This is my favorite place! Great food, ambience, excellent service, and an unhurried pace. We ate here on our first night in tow 7 years ago. This place does not disappoint.
We went in late on MothersDay and were greeted by the super friendly staff. The customer service was very good and our meals were delicious. 2 of us had the prime rib special and one had the rib eye. EXCELLENT!! I would highly recommend this restaurant again. What a pleasant surprise on out travels through Woodland on a holiday! I would definitely go back!
Kitchen428 is excellent. The menu isn't large, but everything on it is of the highest quality. The food is delicious and the service is friendly.
Had a great dinner with family. We ordered the artichoke dip and ceviche appetizers which were delicious. We had a round of tequila sunrises (yum) We ordered the chicken, steak and short ribs. Perfect and delicious too! Our waitress Jillian was marvelous. Can’t wait to get back there again for a great dinner.
This is a greatbplace for a quality meal in a very comfortable setting .
And the Decour was charming & my vegetarian Panini was absolutely divine! Our waiter was extremely attentive, kept refilling my diet Pepsi without being asked!
( The bathrooms were clean, thank you! )
The food was great. Our waitress was excellent, friendly and efficient. I have eaten here on several occasions and have never been disappointed
A wonderful dinner! We went early for a quiet time.
The interior is quirky and fun. The serving staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. The food was great though my friend felt the asparagus was overcooked. The chocolate pate` dessert was amazing.
One of the finest restaurants in Woodland, they feature an excellent bar and kitchen.
Very friendly staff and nice ambiance. Food was fine, nothing to write home about. I had the spinach salad that came with strawberries - there was one strawberry cut into many pieces. Hummus plate was good and bread was warm :-)
Had requested a special dessert b/c we were celebrating an award my wife had just received and that request was never acknowledged.
I have been here several times and each time it has been a wonderful dining experience. From the ambience to the service and staff and wonderful food options all have been excellent. I really ejoyed the book that the bill comes in also - a nice touch.
Thank you for a great experience.
This is our special place. Found this restraunt 3 years ago. So, this our yearly date night place to go.
Never been unhappy with food and service. The thai tachos are delious! I always get the ribeye steak, never disappointed.
Waitstaff was accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu. Food arrived quickly and was good.
Great Contemporary American Food. The sea bass was excellant. And the walnut pudding bread ala mode was so good, I might order it first next time!
Very good service, not enough food options, I went for the prime beef and is only on Wednesday, I want to have it on holidays. Keep up the good work.
Cornbread with lavender butter to die for!
So nice to be in a restaurant that you could hear your dinner partner without straining.
Imaginative food choices.
The soup was excellent and the corn bread was outstanding. And the prime rib was also excellent. A top notch dining experience.
Happened upon this tucked away lil spot in old town Woodland (close to the Opera House). Ordered the fish tacos, which are delicious - noticed that they offer them at half the price on their HH menu. There is outdoor seating in back; loved the rustic decor inside (especially the old doors from the ceiling, which caused a lengthy discussion of: “how many people does I’ll take to hang a door?”).
This was my second time at the restaurant. Was a good value for the money.
This is probably the best "upscale" American Cuisine restaurant in Davis. The service is consistently excellent, the food exceptionally well-prepared, and some of the tables offer a quiet dining experience - something that seems to be increasingly rare these days. It's a bit pricey, but we believe worth every bit of it (and by pricey I mean a check for two might be $10 or $15 higher for a couple of steak dinners, but they do have a wide variety of less expensive options).
A continuing favorite of ours in Woodland.
Upon arrival at our reservation time we were greeted and seated immediately. Our server Jillian was most attentive and truly took care of us. She was especially concerned about my allergy to Canola Oil and made me aware of the items that I was able to order.
Both the food and dining atmosphere we're amazing.
After our dinner as we were walking to our car, our server Jillian called me to tell me that I left my credit card at the restaurant. I truly want to give her thanks and praise for her thoughtful and superior service.
When we return again to the 428 we will surely request her for our server!
The Halibut special with creamy polenta and rainbow carrots was amazing!!! The halibut was so tender and juicy and the polenta with basil was super tasty. It was like heaven in my mouth! Compliments to the chef for creating this dish. I finished my entire plate, which is rare for me. Love this place!!!
This was her second visit to kitchen 428. Two of us ordered the filet mignon off the menu rather than the filet mignon special (because of the accompaniments) but yet the filet mignon special is what came out. My husband asked for fingerling potatoes with his rib eye instead of mashed and yet he got mashed. I had the salmon which was wonderful. All in all, it is a lovely place with great menu and very good food. I think the wait staff just wasn’t paying attention.
The service was lacking. We were waiting for a Thrid person to join us. Service never asked us if we wanted a drink or gave us a wine list. Our leftover sat for 20 mins before they asked us if we wanted boxes. Then instead of putting our food in the boxes she left it on the table for us to do ourselves.
I ordered the chicken special and the amount of food for the price was shocking! The flavor was good but one small breast with a scoop of mash potatoes and a scoop of broccoli that wasn’t cooked was Harley worth $57
Overall less than average.
The circle table in the front corner is best for group of six. Quieter there than in the back. Servers were very accommodating for separate checks, refills on water, and getting food ordered/served quickly for a later theater date. The fish special this night (Fri, March 29) was superb, asparagus cooked to just right crunch and done-ness; burgers very good. Everything about the meal and setting was just right. Thank you!
Took my mom out for birthday dinner- she’s a bit hard of hearing so I knew I needed a quieter restaurant. Kitchen 428 didn’t disappoint! Tables aren’t jammed too close and we had a nice table by the front window looking out. We had great service by Jillian, and there were Menu items that satisfied all the way down to the 10 year old.
As usual we had a terrific dinner.
Food is well-prepared, relaxed atmosphere, thoughtful service.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. There fresh fish selection is always good along with a great wine list in a quiet comfortable setting.
Made an early reservation so we could get to theater after. All was great until 8 young women arrived in the room in raucous fashion. As our dinner arrived we couldn't even hear each other so conversation at our table - and all others in the room - stopped. The waitress was extremely loud also - exacerbating the problem. Otherwise, it is high priced but food is great. Good wine selection.
Excellent food and service.
We ordered Rack of Lamb, Swordfish special, Short Ribs, and steak sandwich oh, Fried Brussel sprouts(very good) we all like them very much. The only Food issue I had for that night was that the bread was horrible, hard as a rock, tooth chipping jaw breaking hard. NO KIDDING MAN.
The Server was great don't no her name (she had green hair for St. Patty's Day). great personality, helped us with some family pics. A very nice evening.
Excellent food, staff was really nice and helpful, will definently be back
We sat outside on the patio and unfortunately people kept coming outside from the bar and smoking on the patio near us. Several tables complained and the manager addressed it to no avail. Service was great until the end when we could not get our check and after getting it, could not get our waiter to take our credit card. Food was good, setting was nice otherwise.
We were very happy to find a restaurant of the quality of Kitchen428 in Woodland. The atmosphere is great, eclectic design and comfortable. The service was very attentive, and they steered us in the right direction for the deep-fried Brussels sprout appetizer and the rack of lamb and ribeye. The wine list had a couple missing ones, and the year of the bottle we got was not the year on the menu, but it was a better year so, fine. We greatly enjoyed it!
Food was poorly prepared, Lamb chops were dry and potatoes were barely warm. The wine list had nothing but rot gut California wines listed, which are not worth using for cooking, let alone drinking. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Music from Mojo’s was far too loud plus others were talking loud to talk over the music. That was unpleasant.
We needed GF food and they delivered in a great way! Totally pleased with our experience
This is my go to restaurant. The quality of environment, the food and the service are always excellent.
Great restaurant. Traveling north on I-5, here for lunch. Older remodeled building with adjoining bar, casual, nice ambience. Nice menu, interesting choices. Food tasty, well prepared, plenty to eat. Great service. Popular among locals as well as out of towners. Well worth the visit.
