Kitchen428 Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We have now visited three times (lunch and dinner) with three different sets of friends. Consistently pleased with the wait staff and the food. Great menu selections and great value. Patio dining was our favorite as we brought our dogs and enjoyed the outdoor setting. I hope they can maintain the quality and retain their fine staff. It makes for a great experience.
Drove out from Davis based on reviews. What a terrific meal!!! I had the ribeye-YUM! Tender and full of flavor. Hub had short rib and friend haddock. Both were also excellent but I think I had the best dish!. Price is moderate to high for the area but worth it.
We make a point of dining here before a theater performance. The menu dishes are all good as are the specials and service is attentive. We prefer the front dining rooms, the back sometimes gets a little noisy. Probably Woodland's best fine dining.
Our group ordered Spring Rolls as an appetizer and the veggies were so CRISP and FRESH bursting with flavor. Sure tasted like Farm-to-Fork all right! Plus The Roasted Vegetable Panini served on Rosemary Focaccia is one of my favorite items.
This restaurant had very good food. My husband and I each ordered steaks, both were very good! However, we were treated pretty poorly (I'm guessing due to the fact that we are young, both 22). The waiter read the full list of specials to both tables next to us and didn't even offer to read them for us. We also noticed her whispering to her coworkers while looking directly at our table. After this, there was always at least one member of the waitstaff watching our table, yet no one ever approached us to check in beyond taking our order, delivering food, and bringing the check. They also only gave our table one menu to share when we sat down, which was odd. Overall, we paid quite a bit of money for the dinner, which in and of itself was very good, for an environment that made us feel a little like criminals/children.
It was a family dinner and focused on the Wednesday special -- prime rib. Ordered one rare and one medium rare -- they arrived exactly as ordered. Nice wines by the glass.
Food -- the prime rib and caesar salads arrived surprisingly quickly.
Service was very thoughtful.
This was probably the fifth or sixth time to have the special; there has been no drop-off in quality over time.
Nice to have a very good, reliable restaurant in town!
We were visiting Woodland and looking for an restaurant that offered something other than the sea of fast food and chain restaurants that over populate Woodland. We were well please with what we found at Kitchen428. Eye catching decor, delicious, well prepared and present food, good wine list and a very attentive waiter! Who could ask for more?
Although I had been to this restaurant before, I was there for luncheon. This time it was post-opera house production of Anne of Green Gables. The dining room did not open until 5:00 PM, so we waited in the cocktail lounge/bar. We were served our cocktails and then repaired to the dining room at the appointed time. Our dinner meals were deliciously prepared, beautifully designed and enough to bring home leftovers.
Seven of us at lunch while visiting the Stroll Through History Event. Everyone was happy with the presentation, quality, and quantity of the food. Can recommend the watermelon & beet salad with chicken, spinach & peach salad was skimpy on the peaches. The friend who had a burger said it was the best she had eaten in a long time. Thumbs up.
There was 4 of us. We all had filet mignon. Each steak was not done consistently throughout. Parts of each one were fine, but other parts were underdone . Service was excellent. This was the only time that we were there where the food was not done quite properly. An off night. I'm sure we will return again before too long.
Kitchen428 is a lovely reincarnation of the old Morrisons. I had the daily fish special, a perfectly prepared hake over a wonderful polenta with a yummy sauce. My husband had the Wednesday prime rib special. His end cut was generous in size but bland, dry and tough. Because my meal was pretty spectacular, I will be back, but probably with a girlfriend, not my hubby.
Excellent restaurant but be sure to watch parking time limit. A $45. ticket for parking over the two hour limit is extensive, City of Woodland. Did I park over two hours? Yes, but it was easy to do so when visiting with a friend I haven't seen for years. The $45. fine should be re-evaluated by the city.
Went there for my wife's birthday. I had rack of lamb, she had the chef's special filet mignon. Both were excellent. My rack of lamb was served in a coffee/raspberry sauce that was really good. I liked they used locally sourced food. Highly recommend.
We came for the Wednesday night special -- prime rib. This was not our first [or even fifth] visit and did not disappoint. Along with a salad, the 16oz cut was good for two.
Service was attentive but not hovering.
Despite the number of guests, noise was not an issue.
We will be back!
Fourth Anniversary and four years in a row. Kitchen428 never disappoints. Jillian, our server, was a doll and very patient with us. My parents called ahead to surprise us with a gift card for the meal and the restaurant printed up a card to go with it and presented it as we ordered our appetizers.
I ate every bite of my salmon and my wife took half of her steak home to have for lunch the next day. It is our pleasure to go to Kitchen428 for every one of our anniversaries and I hope we have many to share with them.
Once again my family traveled from San Jose, Sacramento and Davis to celebrate a birthday. We were seated in the window table which is light and comfortable. I enjoyed the bottomless mimosa while the others feasted on the Thai Totchos and Ahi Tuna Poke for appetizers. My grilled steak sandwich was an ample treat. All of the portions were generous and well received.
