Kitchen West Restaurant - The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch
The restaurant is casual and modern with a vibrant open kitchen and wood-fire grill. A selection of regional wines, craft beers and seasonal cocktails shine a spotlight on the local wine-making, brewing and distilling scene.
Chilean Sea Bass*
pecorino romano risotto, vegetables, lemon butter
Cognac Filet Mignon*
garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables, peppercorn sauce
I just expected something a little more cozy (6 feet away from other guests).
We were underwhelmed with our experience. We thought the food was okay but very overpriced.
Our server was okay, but if you are going to charge the amount of money for the food, the service should be top-notch as well. It simply was not.
He was nice enough, but my guest asked what vegetables were in her selected entree - he left out one which of course was the vegetable she does not eat and had to pick them out of her food. He never came over to refill our water glasses the entire evening, didn't offer coffee or tea, and we were contemplating dessert and assumed it would be a normal size and too small to share- so we ordered two- both of us could only eat half as it was so big. Your creme brulee is definitely meant for two and he should have shared that bit of perspective.
Unfortunately, it was not a great experience. We were sitting in a corner and definitely felt like we were not a priority, but just part of getting the job done.
Very nice place - service was excellent - food was very good!!
We decided to go in because of the menus online and the reviews but the menu was completely different when we asked they said that they didn’t know why that was online. The food was ok definitely have had better
NEVER DISAPPPOINTED. Every time we go to KW, we find the food to be delicious, the service spot on, and the ambiance,,,very comfortable. There is no rush to eat and run. The wait staff is always fun and responsive..and the FOOD...The sea bass is always great ditto for the salmon and my husband sticks to the filet. EXCELLENT
Located inside the Scottsdale McCormick Ranch area it's a beautiful location. The valet was super friendly and the entrance inviting. I wish I could say that of the staff at the Kitchen West restaurant. The hostess seemed a bit confused but was sweet. There were only 2 other parties in the restaurant at 6pm on a Saturday so that was concerning. Our waiter was a bit rude at the beginning like we were keeping him from something and seemed annoyed that we asked to see the Restaurant Week menu but warmed up to us after we gave a few compliments to the dinner and right before we paid the bill. The meal was delicious. Started with ratatouille and the green chili pork verde appetizers, the filets were very good and the caramel pecan cheesecake was really delicious! The live music was a very nice touch and both the restaurant and bar could listen which if we were staying there would be a plus. The restaurant itself needs a good deep cleaning and window washing. Again, upon leaving the Jamaican gentleman who was watching the door and ran to get our car, I am so sorry we didn't get his name, was so friendly and kind ~ he is a gem!
Worst Dinner Reservation Ever. Took 45 minutes to get drink order and it came to the table wrong. Water was never brought to the table. Left after waiting 1 hour. No food ordered & no tip left.
Paper menus brought to our table were wrinkled. Waiter serving us was dressed in jeans and a crumpled shirt...he was pulled from the pool area to assist in dining room. A Mother's Day dinner that will always be REMEMBERED !!!
Food was good but my filet was not cooked evenly. Atmosphere in the restaurant was ok, not overly impressive. Definitely understaffed. Overall, it was good but would likely go elsewhere.
The food selection was limited and quality of food was very poor, especially compared to prices. It would be worth staying here again if the resort invested in a quality chef. The food was not good.
Quiet dinner evening ...... no crowd ..... quick service..... scrumptious meal.
Food was good. Pound cake was very dry and tasted like Sarah Lee frozen pound cake.
Chilean sea bass was awesome.
Great service, we ate on the patio, Kiely our server was AWESOME
Food was delicious, service was slow and waiter was not very attentive even through there was only people at 2 other tables
Dinner was delicious, the outdoor patio at sunset was busy but not overwhelming, Lilian our server was lovely and attentive. We don’t go out very often and so this was a treat. We felt treated.
short staffed. inexperienced service. food good but took way too long to get
Not impressed. We took one look at the empty tables and small menu and knew we shouldn’t have picked it. We got some drinks and decided to get food somewhere else, when we told the waiter he told us, “you could have just sat at the bar” super unprofessional. And it wasn’t like they were crazy busy and we were taking up space. We were one of 3 tables of customers.
Easter brunch fabulous
We made reservations on this site, open table, clearly for Easter brunch reservations. Brunch was lavishly explained on site. We drive 45 minutes for our 8:30 reserved time. Get there the host stated there is no brunch til 10:00am!!!!!! Why wasn’t your open table site aware of this? No one wants to take responsibility. So we left and found another restaurant for breakfast, much cheaper also!
Wonderful food from a limited menu. We both had the seabass which was exceptional and served very hot with a tasty risotto. Nice wine selections. Definitely worth a return visit.
We sat on the small west patio to be away from a very noisy bar with happy hour and live music. Only negative is the view towards the side of a large golf green about 20 feet above the patio.
The resort is 45 years old and doesn't appear to have had any upgrades to the dining room, bar, and lobby since it opened. Bar has a much nicer large patio facing north with the high tops on the tier next the building and regular tables on two tiers below overlooking the golf course. So all tables have a good view.
The food and the view were both amazing at Kitchen West. We sat on the patio as the sun was going down. The flavors of the Chilean sea bass and even the vegetables were well worth the price; our compliments to the chef. We'll go back again.
The service was AMAZING. Our server was the very best. BUT the food...meh...not so good...it was very very very bright lights in the restaurant and seemed a bit like I was at a diner in the middle of the day. The food was very bland and very blah and would never go there again for the food.
The restaurant was closed and was dirty. They don't have waitress,
Food was great. We requested outside seating when we reserved a table due to Covid and it being a beautiful warm night. Everyone else was eating indoors and the host thought it odd that we wanted to sit outside. We then didn’t get very good service because we were the only ones outdoors and the people inside got all the attention. The food was good however.
Maybe related to COVID. Not nearly what it was even last year.
More limited menu. Service slow and not very friendly.
The service was slow not offered any water. The stew was great with tortillas. The salmon and celentro rice was wonderful. The Filet Mignon was wonderful, my husband loved it. Vegetables was not as good. Potatoes was perfect.
Kristin, Michael and Tim Tutle, we had a blast! You all as your own individual person were super fun. We had a great time. We ordered the steak and it was fantastic, cooked MR, Potatoes were good I already have a peppercorn sauce on the side and a side of demi-glaze. I thought the demi-glaze was the best. I love the variety of vegetables, They were cooked perfect. We originally sat outside it would’ve been a beautiful day but it was cold and extremely windy but can’t wait to go back to sit around the fire
The dining room was not open at this time, we sat in the lounge.
I WOULD RECOMMEND!
We had a Travelzoo and I was eager to try this restaurant out. I would not recommend this place UNLESS you had a deal like we did. We both were excited about the Seabass but the waiter said it was out so easily that it Sounded like it was a ploy to get us in. Same price $37 so instead we tried the halibut and scallops instead. Both tasted very good. Lots of fat but thats probably why the dishes were both very good. :) Do not bother paying extra costfor the wedge. It only comes with ranch dressing (wedge without blue cheese??) and it was definitely not worth $16. Husband's Ceaser salad was good though.
The ambiance is like what other says, cold sterile more like a casual place. For the prices, I am surprised that the dining room is not inviting. No table clothes, or table set.. its more like a casual hotel dining room. The service was just OK. HE was nice and made a couple exceptions (extra veggies instead of risotto) and dressing on the side but defintely not 4 or 5 star.
Overall restaurant was not what we were expecting based on prior OpenTable reviews - we were expecting a higher-end feel/ambiance but it was not that at all. It could be it was the day before Valentine's day or that there was a loud boorish crowd in bar and the what looked like 12 8 year old boys with a nanny and the parents at the next table - not sure. Food was decent but oily and not particularly hot when we received. Our server was very friendly and attentive (good marks for that). They were short staffed. Decor was a bit motel-ish - which you do not see in photos. Heavy clunky chairs. tiled cafeteria like space. Pictures made it look more stylin'. Anyhow - it was as much about the difference between reviews and pictures and reality as anything else.
This was a very good find for Valentines Day. All of our go to places were booked so we took a chance on Kitchen West. The food was great as was our server and the dining room is quite nice.
Spent President's Day weekend at hotel and ate breakfast there each morning of our stay; also had a special Valentines dinner for my wife, sister, and nieces while there. It was all great.
Limited menu, cold coffee, service was spotty. Nit best breakfast option in Scottsdale.
It was Christmas afternoon, the restaurant was almost empty so it was extremely quite but felt abandoned. So sorry for them. The menu was limited but sufficient and the food was good.
McCormick Ranch"s best kept secret. This place has great food..the sea bass was outrageously good: the pasta was to perfection, and our bartender was a great conversationalist. We ended up chosing to eat in the bar.. Our service was prompt: happy hour was extensive..and we left HAPPY AND FULL!! I suspect they would like to be busier and I "get it" that their menu is limited..their flatbread used to be "to die for" but they didn't have it on the menu any more. They probably are known for their convention fare, but for now..we locals need to keep it in business and it is NOT A CHORE to do that..
We enjoyed our happy hour drinks and wings in the bar Six40. We were the only people in the entire restaurant dining room, so it was a little strange. They were short staffed and it took a long time to get our food, but our young server did the best he could and tried very hard to please us. The food was very good, and we loved the combination of mixed veggies. However, I am looking forward to when this restaurant gets back up to normal.
Our server/bartender Michael was amazing and his service was excellent. The food was very good (we had the salad with grilled salmon, and pork verde chili, along with the grilled chicken sandwich and fries). It was well priced, quite reasonable for the quality and portions. There was a limited menu with a cap on breakfast at 10am which we thought an opportunity for mgmt. to look at for weekend brunchers but really enjoyed the lunch we had. The patio is charming with a view of the golf course, but needs some buzz and maybe a mimosa bar with live music, etc. to capitalize on such a great location. The resort is charming...definitely a good potential for a hot spot. All in all a pleasant experience and we will be going back!
Thought that we'd try this restaurant during AZ restaurant week and were glad that we did. We'll be going back. A great wedge salad, corn chowder and pork osso buco are strongly recommended.
It was honestly a very disappointing first experience. First of all, the ambience was very lackluster at best and entire restaurant was basically empty on a Friday night. The food was mediocre. We used a Groupon which included a prefixed meal. The Caesar salad felt like it came pre-made salad bag and the lemon poundcake definitely was a Sara Lee poundcake which was sliced and plated. The salmon and flat iron steak entrée were not bad, but lacked flavor. Honestly we could have over looked the entire bland meal and ambience If it wasn’t for what happened with the check. They tried up charge on the salmon (even though it was clearly stated as an entree choice on the Groupon) and reasoning being is that their “meat prices” went up. Honestly, the waitress had to get the manager involved to have the charge dismissed. We felt as though they were trying to bait and switch customers by up charging on the Groupon in hopes we would not notice. Very dishonest establishment and we will not be returning.
It was a slow day , not a lot to see there. Food was good but not to many varieties
Brandi was amazing. Fantastic service.
Great food and wine... lovely overall experience. Very quiet evening due to Pandemic. Don't miss the salmon board, Scallops and Chiean Sea Bass. Devine evening for our ''Last Supper''!
