Kitchen West Restaurant - The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch
The restaurant is casual and modern with a vibrant open kitchen and wood-fire grill. A selection of regional wines, craft beers and seasonal cocktails shine a spotlight on the local wine-making, brewing and distilling scene.
Christmas Eve
It was Christmas afternoon, the restaurant was almost empty so it was extremely quite but felt abandoned. So sorry for them. The menu was limited but sufficient and the food was good.
McCormick Ranch"s best kept secret. This place has great food..the sea bass was outrageously good: the pasta was to perfection, and our bartender was a great conversationalist. We ended up chosing to eat in the bar.. Our service was prompt: happy hour was extensive..and we left HAPPY AND FULL!! I suspect they would like to be busier and I "get it" that their menu is limited..their flatbread used to be "to die for" but they didn't have it on the menu any more. They probably are known for their convention fare, but for now..we locals need to keep it in business and it is NOT A CHORE to do that..
We enjoyed our happy hour drinks and wings in the bar Six40. We were the only people in the entire restaurant dining room, so it was a little strange. They were short staffed and it took a long time to get our food, but our young server did the best he could and tried very hard to please us. The food was very good, and we loved the combination of mixed veggies. However, I am looking forward to when this restaurant gets back up to normal.
Our server/bartender Michael was amazing and his service was excellent. The food was very good (we had the salad with grilled salmon, and pork verde chili, along with the grilled chicken sandwich and fries). It was well priced, quite reasonable for the quality and portions. There was a limited menu with a cap on breakfast at 10am which we thought an opportunity for mgmt. to look at for weekend brunchers but really enjoyed the lunch we had. The patio is charming with a view of the golf course, but needs some buzz and maybe a mimosa bar with live music, etc. to capitalize on such a great location. The resort is charming...definitely a good potential for a hot spot. All in all a pleasant experience and we will be going back!
Thought that we'd try this restaurant during AZ restaurant week and were glad that we did. We'll be going back. A great wedge salad, corn chowder and pork osso buco are strongly recommended.
It was honestly a very disappointing first experience. First of all, the ambience was very lackluster at best and entire restaurant was basically empty on a Friday night. The food was mediocre. We used a Groupon which included a prefixed meal. The Caesar salad felt like it came pre-made salad bag and the lemon poundcake definitely was a Sara Lee poundcake which was sliced and plated. The salmon and flat iron steak entrée were not bad, but lacked flavor. Honestly we could have over looked the entire bland meal and ambience If it wasn’t for what happened with the check. They tried up charge on the salmon (even though it was clearly stated as an entree choice on the Groupon) and reasoning being is that their “meat prices” went up. Honestly, the waitress had to get the manager involved to have the charge dismissed. We felt as though they were trying to bait and switch customers by up charging on the Groupon in hopes we would not notice. Very dishonest establishment and we will not be returning.
It was a slow day , not a lot to see there. Food was good but not to many varieties
Brandi was amazing. Fantastic service.
Great food and wine... lovely overall experience. Very quiet evening due to Pandemic. Don't miss the salmon board, Scallops and Chiean Sea Bass. Devine evening for our ''Last Supper''!
Great food great ambiance!
The menu was great and I did have a travelzoo discount but I will def come back without one!
The sea bass was DELICIOUS!!! We also had the shrimp scampi for our appetizer and that was so good!!!
Excellent food and service. Would recommend to others.
The service was lacking for a resort. No busboy so the waiters had to multitask too much.
Empty water and wine glasses etc
I ate lunch there twice while staying in the hotel. Food was good. Service was great one day and pretty bad the other day. Maybe she was new but her lack of understanding made things very awkward.
Great food on a slow night for the restaurant. Waiter had little to do but check on us, but he was very nice.
Enjoyed the salmon appetizer, would not order the steak. Should add a ribeye option. Ambiance was cold felt more like lunch place.
We had four different main courses including the steak, shrimp buccatoni, salmon and sea bass. Everything was delicious. The desserts were fantastic. We had the apple and pear cobbler with ice cream and the s'mores dessert with the homemade graham cracker.
We have been going to Kitchen West for Christmas day buffet for over 10 years. This year was by far the best ever. The food is always plentiful and well prepared, but this year the service has risen to a new level of excellence.
Although we were very disappointed in the resort, our Christmas eve dinner was excellent. Our waiter, Joseun (sp?) was great.
We went during restaurant week and I ordered from restaurant week menu and my husband from the regular menu. Drinks were great- cocktail with gin and draft beer. Salad had great dressing. Salmon was moist and side of spinach with lentil was very flavorful. Pork chops from regular menu were excellent. We shared the smores which again was great. Service was outstanding! Highly recommend it and we will be back!
I took my mom there for brunch to celebrate her birthday. We consider ourselves foodies and, being from NM, we always choose southwestern dishes when given the option. The food was amazing!! To top off the great service and food, the staff brought out a small cake for my mom that was so beautiful and delicious! It really made my mom’s entire day! We will definitely be recommending and going back!
Mother and daughter weekend. The food was good but too much salt. Great staff and service was super!!
My suggestion is to make the portions smaller.
The first night the waiter did not offer us the special and the portions were just too big. Second night we were offered the special, Antonio, and it was better portions, still large!! Their Nan/ Indian bread was absolutely delicious!!!! Salmon and filet and brisket was also delicious!!!!!!
Lunch with a friend was great. Not super busy early in the week. Servers are friendly and attentive. Food was abundant, and local sources, bar was available too. We both needed carryout. A hidden gem at the resort.
Food is awesome. Big portions. I had the flatiron and it was great. My wife had the brisket burger, which was a meat fest! Bacon on top of brisket on top of a burger. (she couldn't finish it). Place wasn't cheap, but I wouldn't expect a deal at a nice resort in Scottsdale. Good atmosphere. Servers were friendly.
Terrible service. Not busy. Prices high. Waitress doesn’t know the menu lied and then blamed it on being busy only 3 tables occupied in restaurant
Absolutely wonderful service - they went above and beyond. Somewhat limited menu - but delicious food and very creative presentation. Look forward to returning!
Amazing food & service. Everything we ate was awesome. The portion were large so take your appetite.
The music and service were incredible, as was the food. A bit pricey and the extremely limited menu for Valentine's day was disappointing, but overall we had a great experience! I thought the limited menu would make the wait time for the food shorter, but I was mistaken. The quality of the food was definitely worth the wait, though.
Excellent food. Valentines Day menu was exceptional!
Great service and food. Very loud as the dining area is close to the bar which was loud as well as the music.
The sea bass was exceptional!
Made an early reservation to celebrate our folks 50th wedding anniversary. Called to say we were running 15 minutes late and whoever I spoke with was annoyed that we were going to be tardy. Once at the restaurant we were seated immediately as there were plenty of open tables. Our waiter David was excellent. Very attentive and professional. All our dinners were delicious. The sea bass special was excellent. I only wish sides were included in price of dinner. This a a very nice special occasion restaurant.
Christmas brunch for our family was fantastic in every way.
We had a pre-Christmas celebration with family in Phoenix. The ambiance was perfect. The food was was fantastic!!! Huge kudos to the Chef!! Thank you for helping make great memories on our visit!!!
Holiday brunches are awesome now.! We miss the weekly brunches of past but the special holiday offerings are top notch. We have been going here since the original opening of the Conference Center. The staff has always been very friendly and provide excellent service. Many superb choices of seafoods, meats, side dishes, desserts and champagne. Well worth the price of admission!
The food combinations were delicious and the personalities of the staff enhanced our dining experience. Amy was such a joy as she provided professional yet personable service. The wine selection was very well chosen and dessert was incredible!
It was a wonderful place! The atmosphere and service were amazing. The food was just ok. I traveled a distance because I was told I should try the dining experience.
Looking for a nice restaurant, but was too late in making a res at my fav restaurant, so decided to give Kitchen West a shot. I was disappointed that it was a hotel restaurant, but they more than made up with it by serving absolutely fantastic food. The ceviche was superb. The bread and cherry jam quite creative. Not your normal bread, and it rocked. A spectacular cod(with beets), perfectly cooked scallops. The staff was happy and prompt. I gotta say, I don’t normally choose a hotel restaurant(Vegas excluded), but I left extremely happy with Kitchen West. Worth a look. They had live entertainment at the adjacent bar. One of the Cardinal football players was there, but that doesn’t account for the loss to Seattle. He left early with his unattractive date(at least that’s what I said to my wife).
Amy did a great job! Will come again when in Scottsdale.
