Food was decent but quite expensive for what you were actually getting. The portions were huge, but seemed to be mostly rice. Bill was almost $200 with tip for four entrees, two apps, two beers and two iced teas. Service was fast and the decor is cool, but not sure I’d make an effort to go back.

The Egg Benedict was quite disappointing as the eggs were like hard boiled - the yolk was not running at all. And there were some flies in the restaurant which was not pleasing. I think the food quality has really slipped.

This is an awesome restaurant. I had a fantastic brunch and the absolute BEST Bloody Mary I've drunk--ever! I highly recommend this restaurant for brunch. The food was excellent as was the service. Give it a try....

I've been to KitchenStory twice times now and it's always wonderful. Our server was lovely and the food was delicious. I especially recommend the mango panna cotta.

We had a reservation for 8 people that I made at least a week in advance. I called the day of to confirm, as it ended up only being 6 people. Having worked in the restaurant industry this should be no issue sizing down a table, and I did so as a courtesy.

When we arrived, on time for our reservation, there was no table set for us and it was unclear they even had a plan for where to seat us. The place was packed and there was a line at the door. It took 10 minutes to even get a host or server to acknowledge our reservation and start looking into setting up our table. There was no apology or acknowledgement of the inconvenience. Not to mention the fact that 2 of our 6 dishes lagged behind hitting our table by nearly 10 minutes.

When i book large party lunch reservations for my office, I expect things to run on time - people have meetings to get back to, etc. So for me, this was a big miss. Very disappointed. Will definitely NOT be sending our teams back there for business meals again.

For casual dining, however, the food is great. And despite how busy they are they hustle and make an effort to keep waters filled and plates cleared (sort of).

The food was delicious but it definitely wasn’t a cheap meal. Unfortunately, we were seated in the back next to a stack of chairs and the refrigerator, so we didn’t get to appreciate the atmosphere.

I also received an email from Opentable saying the restaurant reported us as a no-show, so that’s a little irritating.

We've been many times and I order the same item off the menu.. the bulgogi skillet. It got smaller... my only complaint! Hopefully that cook was feeling stingy only for that day. May have to eat before I come for lunch.

Interesting combination of CA and Thai. Most dishes were tasty, but the grilled fish was underdone and heavy on miso.

Based on Yelp I went ahead and made the reservation for this restaurant. It was a Sunday evening, we were in the city celebrating my wife’s birthday. We were excited to try this place out.
My wife and I were the 4th party to be seated. We ordered drinks first then dinner. Drinks arrived promptly. Noise level was moderate due to music being played in the background. Seating is extremely tight and there are no booths only tables with bench seating along the wall. As soon a another 2 person party sat next to us the noise level went through the roof. Immediately she bursts out in an extremely loud conversation with her friend.
We were forced to hear everything she said along with the other group seated on our opposite side.
So much for trying to converse amongst outselves. The staff is not very friendly, the 2 males who seat and take your order seemed to be bothered whenever they were asked a question about the menu.
We were shocked to see the “seater” get upset because a gentleman with his wife and 4year old daughter took a seat at an empty table. Right away the “seater” with his bad colored hair job went into “Diva mode” and tried to force this family to get up and move.
They ended up leaving the restaurant 30 minutes later because they were denied twice by Diva Boy and the owner a pink bendy straw for the daughter.
We waited over 30 minutes for our food while everyone else who came in after us were being served their orders before us. We finally get our dinners and the food was cold. Unbelievable. Very poor service, very poor ambience especially when you need to yell in order to converse with the person(s) in your group. I am sure this place was once a highlight but seems now that the owner has since lost his passion for great food and hospitality.
Would not recommend this place at all for a romantic occasion.
Overrated and overpriced for what it is.
Just another place with bad attitudes
They need a sign in the window thats says “We disriminate against Latinos”.

We were rushed through our dinner at such a pace it was horrible. Food was completely underwhelming and the bill atrocious. Would not recommend.

My husband and I have a 3 year old and 1 year old and asked our friends to join us for dinner (they also have an 8 month old baby). The food was great but I’m even more impressed with the patience of our server. Three kids at one table can be a lot of work, but he was extremely kind and accommodating! It’s so hard to find a place in SF that’s kid-friendly. We’ll definitely be back with our little ones.

My husband and I used to go here for brunch because he loved the french toast and I loved the bottomless mimosas. It's still a great place for brunch, but not a kid-friendly one. :)

The reservation with Open Table was very easy and the service super friendly. I liked the ambience and the food was delicious (coconut soup and Pad Thai w Beef). The only minus was that we waited ~10 minutes for our check.

Great dinner! It took us forever to be seated even though we had a reservation, but once at our table, the service was friendly and quick. The food was fabulous and perfect to share in our large group. I will definitely be back!

Well, I have been a loyal customer to kitchen story. I loved their brunch, since then I always went back. We went there for Mother’s Day last Saturday, and the whole experience is a disaster. They were rushing, kept interrupting our conversation, keep asking if we need anything or if we need a box while we are still working on the food.
Come on now, we were enjoying our family time, is it necessary for the rush? I am very disappointed with the experience.

Came here on a Wednesday for Brunch/Lunch. Had reservations for 3 and was seated promptly! We of course did unlimited mimosas for $19 per person which was worth it for sure! We tried the millionaire bacon and shared it amongst all of us like an appetizer which was good. It was a spicy/sweet/salty goodness. Our food was really good and service was good as well. They were really busy for a weekday and we had to wave down our server a couple times for more Mimosas. Overall I would come back for sure and try their other dishes.

Even though we came in a little later than what the reservation time was, they were very welcoming. They seated us fast. We ordered our food and drinks and everything came in a timely manner. All the food was very delicious and could not be happier since we are not locals.

I gave this restaurant a chance, 3 times! Every single time, they let me down! Service was the poorest, servers are very rude and the food is not up to par considering the high price. All my visits were business breakfast meetings and 100% of the time, servers were rude. On my last visit with a colleague, April 27, 2018 at 8am, I had to follow the server so we can have coffee. I had to also ask for refills otherwise, you will not even get approached. Effective today, Kitchen Story lost several of my colleagues. We will never, ever eat there again!!!

Delicious, creative, healthy and moderate pricing, who could ask for more? Also generous portions and lovely wait staff. The pumpkin tempura appetizers with soy dipping sauce were fabulous, as was the green curry. Coconut chicken soup also great!!

Quite simply, this restaurant should not take bookings at 9:30pm. Kitchen was closing, food forgotten, and meals all arrived a different times.

We had to wait 15 mins for a table, despite a reservation. No apology from the wait staff and our waiter was gruff throughout dinner. The menu has changed since our last visit—and the fried chicken is no more.

One of the waiters was extremely unprofessional and rude when I sent back my meal. The eggplant was not properly cooked (spongy) and I couldn't eat the "salad". His colleagues did their best after his outburst, but I just patiently waited for my friend to finish her wine so we could leave.

Good food overall with wonderful presentation. Menu is diverse which makes it a good place for a group. The service was very poor. We ordered wine which never was brought out. The waiters seemed like we were inconveniencing them by asking questions about the menu and overall were rude and indifferent.

Living off apparently prior value and service? Hard to tell what the fuss is about. Manager/ lead server apparently having another bad day. I’ve tried them for brunch and now dinner and won’t be back. Too many other options to try. Don’t waste your time or money with this location .... maybe one of the other locations are with a try? I’ll never know

I think the server was having an off day. We got our food before our drinks. Didn’t talk much. He second server was much more social and helpful.
