Excellent Asian fusion especially with the dancing queen and tsunami spaghetti in how they how balanced and blended the spicy and sweet together nicely. The Open face was pretty large with a pretty presentation. Great portion size for other dishes people had to bring half home.

The food was really good but I thought the service was sub par. They seemed too busy to pay attention to us. However, Dessert Story next door (their sister restaurant where you eat dessert) was awesome! Service was great and the desserts had an awesome presentation. I would go back there in a heartbeat.

Food and service are quite good, but it was so loud that I couldn't wait to get out of there. Music was way too loud making it nearly impossible to have a conversation with friends at the same table. Won't be back for this reason.

At 22:15 ( 15 min after we recieved our meal) they dont want to give us more drinks and22:25 we recieve the bill... if you close 22:30 you cant do reservation at 21:45 because NOBODY eat in 15 minutes on a restaurant in saturday night...

Fun neighborhood spot. Large portions, good breakfast food and comfortable seats. The bacon is over the top delicious. Only negative is the super high noise level.

We were a party of 6, and it was obvious that since they include the tip for large parties, we were not a priority at all. Very curt, uninterested service. We were not treated like guests, but a burden. Have been going here for years, but won’t return.

Met my parents here for dinner. Service was quick. Music playing was catchy but not too loud. Easy to have a conversation using a normal voice. Food was great. Pumpkin fries app was more than enough for 3 people. Dipping sauce was tastey. I had the Tsunami spaghetti entree. Taste was great, only thing I can really take them to task for was serving the bread without toasting it. Would definitely go here again

Many of the things - and we ordered too much - were tasty. The pork ribs had a delicious sauce, but the pork itself was very overcooked and dust dry.

First, I'd like to say the food was very good and the servers were very nice. The restaurant itself was cute and cozy and it was overall a pleasant experience. The restaurant was a little overcrowded with tables, tho I understand the desire to pack as many people in as possible, you suffer a bit when trying to get in or out of your table without sticking your butt directly into your neighbor's plate. This was also the first place I'd been where instead of asking if we'd like more wine, our glasses were just whisked away never to be seen again. Overall the entire experience was pleasant but could be improved slightly.

I had heard so much hype about Kitchen Story that it may have ruined it a little bit for me. I went there on a date, it was good food -- but not over-the-top good. When my date was trying to explain her allergies they cut her off a number of times and we had to press them to make sure there was an issue. Overall, I thought it was good, but not "the best ever".

The food are big portions. Go for the burger and add the $4 pork belly, it's the boom!! Ahi scoop a must, sooooo good!!
Service not so good, sassy with attitude!! Take a chill pill, relax. It's new years eve!!

The food is good and typical SF trendy neighborhood prices ($20 burger), but if you want wine with dinner, you might want to go somewhere else. The least expensive wine was a Bonterra Zinfandel. They charge $58.00 for a bottle that retails for $12.00. There is mark up and then there is gouging. Kitchen Story belongs in the latter category.

Well, considering they marked us as not honoring our reservation — we did — which precipitated an email from Open Table, I’m not thrilled with this place. So I’m not recommending it based on that.

Delayed seating (even with a rez). Fried pumpkin (kabocha) sounded great - but way too greasy to enjoy. Other dishes overly sauced, or too sweet. I expect high quality, fresh ingredients to be the star of any dish. Here it seems some gimmicky presentations and overly aggressive sauce masks the food - perhaps for a reason?

Two colleagues and I went for lunch on a weekday during the week before Christmas and to be expected, it was crowded. That being said I have not experienced such poor service in many years. The wait person took drink orders and the drinks arrived promptly along with the menus. It was more than 35 minutes before he returned and we had to stand up and wave to get his attention. Yet we saw him leaning on the counter several times seemingly doing nothing. When we placed our order it was 20 minutes before it arrived and afterwards the waiter did not return until we summoned him for the check. The food was lovely but one has to work for it.

Decor and ambiance was great. The food could’ve been much better. We ordered the pumpkin fries, pacific pad Thai, and the bucolic baby back ribs. The only redeeming piece of food were the pumpkin fries: tender, moist, very flavorful! Nearly every bite of the pacific pad Thai had uncracked crab shells, ruining the experience. The baby back ribs were easy to eat with a fork, but they were dry and very bland. Although the food lacked flavor, the presentation was interesting.

Short-rib noodle sooouuuup. Holy cow.

It is pretty noisy in here though. Especially if there’s a birthday, in which case they bring out a metal pitcher full of metal spoons for the sole purpose of rattling it around in order to make even more noise. So, there’s that.

But the food is so dope, that the noise is honestly worth it. Definitely recommend!
