Great ambiance - local ingredients from local farms - service was superb.
The Restaurant was closed, has been closed for weeks and your web site is still booking reservations, will never use Open Table again. Poor, poor service, users beware!
appears to be out of business, which is a shame since I had many good meals here
Closed?! Please remove your restaurant listing from here so that people will not make make a reservation and show up to an empty restaurant!!!!!
Thank you for letting us know you were closed I have nothing good to say
Always enjoy stopping at the restaurant on George on our way back from Biloxi. The food and service our top notch we look forward to stopping there soon.
Wonderful food, super wait staff. Good value for quality.
i love this place. my wife and I have been a number of times and went for our anniversary. had a wonderful time. she has a gluten allergy and has never had a problem and loves the food. we even tried the ice cream that is locally made and gluten free. it was excellent. I also love the craft beer selection. I would recommend to anyone. great for just a dinner date or a special occasion. we will return soon.
The Maitre d tried to seat six of us with three on a long bench seat which would have been very unpleasant for conversation. He didn't take a hint when we asked if there wasn't a better place. I finally went and found a nice location and basically told him I wanted two tables pulled together in a quiet corner of the place, so we could be more comfortable and be able to converse which was the whole point of dining together.
After that was accomplished, everything went exceptionally well. Our server, Abby, was great. She did not rush us but was there when needed. Both of those items are so important. The food and wine were very good.
Food was delicious. Crab and corn soup with the mini crab cake is yummy.
Croquettes were greasy and over cooked. Fish was ok. Rice was mushy but had good flavor.
Cute place but it must have been an off night.
The food was excellent. We had the duck and the fish and i would order each again.
Lunch was delicious, but the fried chicken was too salty and overly breaded. I had not expected a boneless thigh. Crab/ corn soup was quite good, if a little thick. Grits were tasty and distinctive!
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner and the service was excellent
While my schnitzel entrée was good, the paring with a waffle, slice of sausage and black-eyed peas and butter peas was - strange. I felt service was good and friendly, and the ambience was very good. The restaurant has potential but they are not where they should be.
Wonderful!!! Waitress, Sterling, was attentive & polite. Ordered 4 small plates (which were not that small). Everything was good. We especially liked the Corn & Crab soup! Definite "to do" in Mobile.
Such a pleasant brunch. Server was attentative but not overbearing. This a very pleasant where you can a pleasant conversation and truly enjoy your meal!
One of the best meals I have had in Mobile. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. We will definitely be back.
We had not been to Kitchen on George in a while and as in our past experience this time did not disappoint. The food was fantastic and so was the service. We arrived early and sat at the bar for a drink and appetizer before dinner. The bartender was wonderful and we really enjoyed our date night out. Will not wait so long between visits.
The food never fails to please. Catherine did a great job pleasing 9 hard to please customers.
The food and service was exceptional. We had a good time dining and visiting. Thank you. Lee
I love the lunch menu. I had a protein and vegetable and it was great. My aunt had the brisket and wow, they gave her a ton of food. We really enjoyed it. Fifi was our server and very attentive.
Kat, our waitress, was AWESOME! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to others! Service was very quick as well.
Our server Sterling was impeccable and excellent. Food was delicious.
Wonderful, will definitely recommend and come back.
I was looking for a good fish meal . The grouper was excellent .
Their white chocolate bread pudding was amazing
Great food, great atmosphere, excellent choice of different wines. Menu offers plenty of choice yet not too much. Very affordable fine dining with nice staff!
Good food, good service. Good olace to eat aline ir with friends.
The food was AMAZING and staff were welcoming. We stopped here for a quick date night while in town for business and were very well pleased!!! Can’t wait to return. Tucked away GEM!
Delicous food and great service.
My wife and I have eaten here quite a few times, and it is consistently fantastic. Best restaurant in Mobile, with by far the best chef in town. I recommend this spot without hesitation.
Was absolutely amazing. Only complaint is, it was slightly pricey. But definitely a do over!
We've been to Kitchen On George about 6 times and it has always been a place I would recommend to everyone but our last visit has completely changed this.
1. Vegetable Tempura - When I've ordered this in the past it was stellar. Hot. Cruncy. Full of flavor. This time we received a fairly large bowl of fired okra/broccoli/mushrooms with ponzu and gribiche for dipping but it was room temperature and soggy. Not a crunch was had. The bowl was filled with tiny pieces of batter which let me know they emptied out whatever container they had left over.
2. Shrimp & Grits - This used to be stunning. I've eaten this dish all over the country and never was it as good as it was here at Kitchen On George. Unfortunately, what was once a creamy, decadent, fresh dish has been changed and is no longer worth ordering. Instead of the light and tangy sauce that used to adorn the grits, it was covered with flat-tasting beurre blanc. The shrimp were overcooked and the biggest sin of all...they served a bowl of grits that were coarse and without seasoning! I explained to the waiter that they had no seasoning and asked for a salt shaker.
3. Salmon & Brie - What was good: The greens which were covered with thin slices of apples. What was bad: The brie I take it was meant to be broiled but it arrived cold and hard. The salmon was tiny and had been grilled until dry and again had NO seasoning.
4. Ricotta Cheesecake -The crust was incredibly tasty. Like butter + brown sugar cookies. I wish they would serve the fruit topping in a small ramekin on the side so it could be portioned based on taste but all in all this was the best thing we ordered.
Barring some unforeseen event I suppose this was our last time here. When we made the reservation we checked off the special event box and mentioned in the notes that it was for a birthday but nobody on staff offered congrats or said anything about it. Service has taken a hit, is far too slow, and the food no longer puts a smile on your face.
Ate lunch on a weekday with a party of 6. Our waitress seemed to be somewhat distracted. Greeted and seated 4 of us and took drink orders, but failed to provide menus. Had to ask for menus when the other 2 arrived. Three of us had delicious burgers, and one had a fine BLT. The sandwiches seemed to be a good value. However, the two in our party who had a protein and sides were disappointed. The fish portions appeared to be 4 oz or less, and the salads were simply small bowls of greens. With one side the protein was $12, and with 2 sides it was $15. Those portions may have suited delicate appetites, but left the men hungry. Bottom line--burgers/sandwiches yes, protein and sides no.
This was recommended by my boss as an excellent place to have a casual business dinner and he was right!!! Besides that, the food was EXCELLENT, specially the Ricotta cheesecake. If you regularly don’t have dessert, please plan to try this cheesecake, it is worth it!!!
Kitchen On George never disappoints! The culinary cuisine is perfection!
Outstanding from start to finish.
Delicious meal second week in a row (because it was that good last week). Tempura veg's were excellent and quite generous. Caesar salad, chowder, and shrimp and grits were good. Not excited about the fish bites. Tenderloin entrees and sides were sooo good, as were the schnitzels. Cobblers and brownie were demolished. Kitchen on George is a "must" in Mobile. Excellent service, too!
I've never been disappointed with service or delicious meals. ALWAYS a pleasured experience
Good meal, fresh and very local ingredients. Good table service and fully stocked bar with localized cocktails
