Kitchen Bar’s bold colors, mod chairs, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere mark this Abington staple, where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served seven days a week.
The menu has an international flair, with offerings such as Ahi Tuna Steak appetize, BBQ Chicken Quesadillas or Encrusted tilapia entrées. From Tuesday to Friday the large bar is lively with a crowded happy hour. The cellar offers domestic and international wine selections.

We came for brunch for a family birthday. An hour before our reservation, I got a message from the restaurant saying their was a problem with the reservation. I called back what appeared to be a personal cell phone. I was told to call the restaurant to confirm my reservation. When we got there, it was chaos. The restaurant was full of big parties, including a baby shower in the main part of the dining room. They offered to seat us at a high top at the bar, even though my reservation included details about the high chairs we would need and kids menus. I wouldn't recommend Kitchen Bar for large parties. We were seated at a series of circular tables pushed together. It was haphazard and loud.
The Kitchen Bar is a great place to connect with friends over a nice meal. Our server, Richard, was attentive without being intrusive. We all enjoyed our food. The portions are ample and the prices are reasonable. Parking can be a challenge, if you are unaware of the overflow options. Maybe they could mention that on their website, they are not doing so already.
We had mussels for an appetizer. There were shells for approx. 40 mussels. A bunch of the shells were empty--with no mussel to be found--not in the bowl, not anywhere. The ones that did have a mussel inside were tasty. If there were shells for 40 mussels, I would say we had maybe 23 mussels. One ordered fish and chips--the fish was soggy. One other had penne with shrimp--the shrimp was soggy. Seems like they both came out of the freezer and weren't cooked enough. I had veal--but could not tell the meat at all. It was a very fried something--could have been fish or pork or chicken. Too fried to tell what could have been inside. The prices were high. Will not go back.
We took 10 family members for lunch on a Sunday for Dad's 82nd birthday. Were seated about 10 min after reservation time. Restaurant was busy but service fairly quick and very good. Some of us had breakfast (served till 2) and some had lunch. Every one of us was quite please with our choices. Generous proportions and very tasty. Omelettes, salads, burgers, nachos, all were outstanding. Very extensive menu with lots of healthy options and items for those with restricted diets, eg GF. Would definitely go back again and recommend to all.
My husband and I took my mother to the kitchen bar for Sunday brunch. We were hesitant because we had had a few prior experiences that weren’t great. After this visit we definitely will not be going back again. The food wasn’t very good and tasted extremely salty. They main dining room was only half full yet service was extremely slow and it took a long time for our food to come out. On our way out I saw the manager and gave him feedback but he only had excuses for the kitchen making errors etc. He didn’t seem to own the experience and service that was being delivered. It was interesting to me that he was walking around the bar area talking to guests but didn’t come through the main dining room the whole time we were there. We will not be back!
This was an open table first-- they didn't actually have seating for us and kept us waiting 20 minutes before seating. Then the server was clearly juggling several simultaneous seatings, making service generally sluggish-- our 1 course dinner took well over an hour.
That said, our server was apologetic and really took time to connect with my sons. And the food, when it arrived, was a big hit with kids and parents alike. The servings were generous. We'll chalk it up to a difficult night and definitely give this place another try.
Made a reservation here because it “accepted” Open Table rewards. The service was slow for an early afternoon dinner but it was adequate. The food was okay— nothing spectacular but not inedible. It’s a kid friendly restaurant which was a big sell for the group.
When the check came we attempted to use the rewards and the first time the server said the restaurant had no idea what it was. When I explained it he took my phone and came back five minutes later stating that the rewards had expired 10/18. That wasn’t true since it was just issued and expires 10/2018. I informed him of this mistake and he went back. Five minutes later he came back again stating that no one had any idea of the rewards program and that this must be something new. I told him I used rewards in the restaurant in the past and never had a problem. He went to check again. He returned stating that the owner was “too busy” to come down to speak to me about the issue and that Open Table made a mistake. I have been coming here for years but today was my last visit.
Learn from my experience— they claim on the app to accept Open Table rewards THEY DO NOT and the owner won’t even have respect for the customers to speak to them. Very poor customer service on the owner’s part.
As usual, great restaurant. First time for the pan seared crab cakes. The two had very little filler and were seasoned and cooked just right. The Teriyaki Salmon was also seasoned and cooked just right. Both entrees had mashed potatoes adorned with a cute waffle chip, nice touch, and broccoli cooked tender, not overcooked with a side of melted butter. A great evening was had by both diners. I always recommend Kitchen Bar.
We were seated right away, and it wasn’t crowded. However it seemed after we put our order in the more people were showing up. Seemed like there was a jam in orders? My husband had to wait forever for a coffee refill, then when breakfast was served his was ice cold, my son was handed two scrambled eggs that did t even appear to be one egg, my mom’s didn’t come out with everyone else’s. It was just disappointing. We finally had a chance for us to have a meal together and it seemed to again not go our way.
Again dont know if there was a backup or not. Or other circumstances, but it was a let down.
Took my husband here for his bday. We both had never been here. We loved everything about it. The service was excellent! The food was delicious, tasting exactly how it looked. The atmosphere was A+. That was our first visit there but definitely won't be our last.
My wife and I visited Kitchen Bar amd were absolutely delighted with the meal and the service. We are from Connecticut and first experienced Kitchen Bar last year when we travelled to PA.; we were impressed then too. We look forward to visiting Kitchen Bar again the next time we visit in that area.
I went here by myself because I just wanted a quick bite that was close by my home. The family was gone and I did not want to cook a meal for one. So the sever was just daring. She was very bubbly and nice. I ordered the Fish of the Day, you had a selection of a few different options. I chose Teriyaki Salmon with fruit salsa. The best thing about this meal was the house salad that I had to order as an extra item because I was not allowed to switch it for the broccoli. The salmon was frozen not fresh and you could really tell once you got past the too sweet fruit salsa. I took a few bits and gave it up. Not a good meal at all.
Our server Robert was AWESOME! With so many indecisive women and so many personalities pulling him in many directions, he was very attentive and great at informing us of some of the best items on and off the menu! He even took photos of the group for us!!!! Our food was delicious and our service received was outstanding, even down to the ladies who greeted myself and the birthday girl (who had no clue)! Leaving the establishment, the night life appeared to open up and attendees at the bar area wished the birthday girl a happy birthday and even offered her a drink or treat. Thank you guys so much!
The food is delicious. I especially recommend the omlettes (until 2pm) I think, and the salads. I been here many times, meeting friends and family. The ambiance is clean, bright and modern. The food is fresh and well prepared and the staff friendly and efficient. The bar on the other side of the restaurant looks interesting although I have not patronized it for no reason other than the types of occasions I ate at Kitchen Bar. All around a pleasant and satisfying experience.
