Best sushi in Seattle. We’ve been eating here for 12 years. We no longer live in Seattle, but we still make it a point to dine here whenever we come back in town. The freshest and most skillfully prepared sushi in the entire western coast of the USA.
This was was great, I would highly recommend.
Long time favorite for special occasions. Food presentation got an upgrade!
One caution note - they don’t have a liquor license - only wine and saki.

Affordable, relaxing, delicious! Took my S/O for Valentines day and we loved the laid back atmosphere. The Nigiri is the perfect size and temperature. Highly recommended.
Jason was amazing. We sat at the counter for our 19th anniversary and he served us the most mouth watering sushi. Such a delightful experience. Thank you and we will be back!
Good rice for the sushi and well-cut, fresh fish. Not inexpensive but not outrageous. Very pleased with the experience and will go again.
Server was attentive and friendly. Food was tasty except for when I realized I had a piece of paper towel in my sushi. They didn’t charge us for the sushi and was very apologetic. They gave us ice cream for dessert in the house. The sushi roll was excellent but couldn’t finish it after the paper towel was found.
Kisaku allowed our group to use the back room for dinner! They were very accommodating to our group. Our only regret is we didn't order enough food. Thanks Kisaku!
Did Omakase at the counter. I love seeing the chef prepare the food, and it's fun to try all the different types of fish.
Usually we have the very best experience here. But this time it was super disappointing. The sever was rude when we asked about the white fish we were not familiar with. She was snotty when I inquired about any belly’s the chef might have.
It was very frustrating having a reservation and being sat in front of the door while several other tables were empty.
The fish was fresh and delish. But again our server didn’t want to tell us what fish was what when it was brought to the table.
This is a Neighborhood place that is filled with families and children in the early hours. We went at 6:45 and it was loud and lots of kids. We were seated in a small back room with only 3 tables. We stayed there because it was quiet, but the ambience was awful. Once it got really busy the waiter was less attentive, but there were lot's of staff trying to keep up. My biggest disappointment was that we said it was our Anniversary on the reservation and there was no attention given to that at all. We would have loved a window table, which was available when we arrived.
The food was just OK....edible for sure but nothing spectacular.
The food was lovely as usual but our server mixed up our appetizer (forgot about it and what we ordered even though we reminded him) as well as our entree (got chicken instead of fish). Both order snafus were corrected and the final food delivered was tasty. The restaurant was loud as it was full on a Sat night. Some noise buffering would be nice.
We had a lovely lunch at Kisaku. Everything was so tasty, beautifully served, and at a very good price. There were many choices, and several adjustments were made for my companion who has several food allergies. Thank you for a fun outing.

Sunday, 11:30 AM Reservations. Spent about $120 for lunch, 3 persons, zero alcohol or desert. Everyone was overstuffed at the end.
Parking was easy on a rainy Sunday morning, about a block away.
You know, I liked this restaurant and yet it seemed unfulfilling in some way, like it is a ship lost at sea while the crew are sleeping down below, oblivious to the rest of the world. It seems like there is an owner who just hired everyone and told them to make a lot of profit, and no one really cares. Seems they also said to use as few ingredients as possible. I believe the owner may be responsible more than the workers.
The wait staff seemed like this was just a job they wanted to get over with, like if my goldfish was serving me, lackadaisical. Even if you don’t like your job, you can still put your best out for the public: be attentive, engage, make the best of who you are interacting with, try and make the day special for everyone, including yourself. Strange to be served by girls in combat boots in a Japanese restaurant, maybe Japan has an army that now accepts everyone. I lived in Japan and there is a sense of girl, waza, a promptness to detail, expecting what is needed. Here we have the wait staff in sloppy wrinkly outfits, swimming around like gold fish, and yes they did their job, the hostess provided a fine table, the waitress was attentive and did everything right, however a restaurant is supposed to make you feel special in some way, instead of feeling like you are on a trip to the supermarket.
My partner and I went there on a rare night out. We have two toddlers. We ordered the chefs meal for two for $120. The food was great. The first few courses came out in a timely fashion. The rest was a mess - it took 40 minutes for the next course. We ended up being there for over two hours. They offered no compensation or explanation other than sorry. So, while the food was amazing, their extreme error in service timing, and the lack of compensation for the error did not sit well with us. There are plenty of other fantastic sushi places in Seattle. If they would have offered something to recognize the ridiculousness of essentially being forgotten for 45 minutes (we did speak with the waiter during this time), we would have been more forgiving. But, we were brushed off and the concern showed by the seeming manager was not very much nor satisfactory. The waiter was sweet but seems to have forgotten to put in the food orders. Anyhow, next.
Dinner out with my husband, and my dad who was visiting and loved sushi.

Why do I try new place when the chef here is so creative and lands the traditional menu items with such beauty and quality?
The last two times we went I was struck by the very careful listening the wait staff did and then provided us with recommendations that were very personalized for us. The sake choice was spot on. The combo of sashimi platter and additional fresh sheet items gave us a rounded meal with much to enjoy.
Do ask for the fish collars of the day. They vary.
Do listen to their advice after telling them what you generally like. They are masterful.
Do sit at the bar sometimes- a lovely conversational exchange can be yours if you wish.
It was our tenth anniversary and we always book the same table. They were so accommodating. We hope the restaurant will be there for a long time so we can celebrate every year! Thank you!
Disappointing: I ordered a dish I am unfamiliar with, and our server did not explain it well. The miso soup was fine; the salad was crisp and fresh, the wine was expensive. It is a good place to meet my friend who lives within walking distance, but I think Kisaku is not a good value.
The food and service was great! Sushi quality is high and the dinner for 2 was a great value.
We visited Kisaku with 2 adults and 5 kids - it was my son’s 10th birthday dinner. The ambiance was perfect for a family and we saw many kids dining. Our server was nice but we didn’t see much of him during the meal - we had to flag him down to order more food (more on that) and get the check. He didn’t ever ask if we wanted another drink or check in on how the food was. The food was pretty good but we felt it was small portions and quite expensive, even for Japanese food. A small bowl of edamame is $5, for example. My tempura dinner - $22 - had 4 shrimp, 1 small piece of fish, maybe 5 veggies and a bowl of rice. After shelling out $200 for our bill, no one was exactly satisfied. We know Seattle is an expensive city but we expected a bit more for our money. However our son got his birthday sushi experience, and that’s what mattered in the end!
Been going to Kisaku for 10 years. But this was our first time in 5 months (?). We always enjoy sitting at the sushi bar as we like to take recommendations from the chef.
The sushi has always been consistently good, but not inventive. That has changed. We had omaksae sushi and were not only not disappointed, we were wonderfully surprised! Great sushi with interesting flavors that still let the freshness of the fish and shellfish shine through.
The only hiccup was I didn’t get my water refilled until I was basically done with my meal, but the food was fantastic.
We went for restaurant week: the menu choices were exceptional. I usually get sushi or sashimi but the Black cod is a must. New ownership doesn’t seem to have dropped the ball: I will come back and see what else this chef has in store.
It took us an hour to get our food during restaurant week. It seemed like everyone was getting served before us even though we arrived first. The server acknowledged this before we said anything and she apologized. The portions of food were not appropriate for the amount charged ($35) for restaurant week. Specifically, I think the appetizer (sashimi) and dessert (cake) was about 2 x 2 inch portion. Most likely will not return to this restaurant.
We ordered from the dine around Seattle menu, and supplemented it with some hamachi kama & toro nigiri. The a la carte items were great. The set menu was just OK.

We tried the fois gras with cotton candy and it was awesome and unusual! The sashimi was also perfect!
We celebrated my friend's birthday at the sushi bar. The service was perfect. And the extra care the sushi chef put into each piece of nigiri really came through. It was the best sushi we've enjoyed in a long while. We especially liked the umeshiso roll, benito and hamachi. I plan to bring my family back here soon.
Excellent experience! The food (fish) was done to perfection. Can't say enough good things about our recent visit. Highly recommend Kisaku for the food and value.

Specific comments on what I ordered and ate:
My personal preference regarding the food would be to sear the black cod so it has some crisp skin around it which would give it more flavor. Its delicate and delicious as is though and my favorite item to eat there
The mushroom salad was good though had way too much dressing.
The miso soup was OK...usually fresher and more flavorful.
The green tea was perfect!
The Wallingford roll had fish that wasn't up to par...have had fresher there before.
Overall, I keep coming back to Kisaku for a variety of reasons and I'd say that its a place well worth dining at for lunch and dinner.
We took friends, seems good for families and adults.
