A woman owned steakhouse, we continue the tradition of excellence in food & service in our restaurant. I go on a lot of first dates because idk, so I go to a lot of nice places. I was very happy with the food and the service. I waited at the bar for my date to arrive and the bartender was very talented and very welcoming. I would genuinely go there for a casual drink if I lived closer. I’m in west loop. The wait staff was excellent and super attentive. Nothing was missed. They asked about allergies which is pretty rare in Chicago, I just found that nice. Was asked in a way that was a tone of “why wouldn’t we ask” and I love that. The food was excellent. The bone marrow and beef tartar were quite nice. I had the dry aged New York strip. I usually scoff at getting steak while I’m out, I can cook a pretty decent steak. I at least enjoy it more than I do most places I’ve ordered one at. This place did not disappoint. I was incredibly happy with it. Cooked to perfection. The Mac n cheese was amazing as well. The bill was also not near what I expected it to be. Really well priced, especially for Chicago.

The service was impeccable!! The steak was so-so, It should have melted in our mouths. My steak was a little over cooked & tough....for the price, I had high expectations. The wait staff was so friendly, I can’t think of a time I’ve had better service. They made the evening very enjoyable & special for all of us, especially for my daughter who that day graduated from college. Thank you for making the evening so special for her!

I had a reservation for two in the main dining room. Upon arrival, we were told a large private party's size meant that we would have to instead sit at a table in the bar area. That was disappointing because it was noisier and difficult to have a meaningful conversation. That said, the manager was aware of the inconvenience and offered a second glass of wine (each), a glass of champagne (each), and desserts without charge to make up for the issue. We made the best of a less than perfect situation.

I came to Kinzie in my first ever visit to Chicago. This was one of the few restaurants that were taking large parties ,12 people to be specific,so we decided to give this restaurant a chance. IT WAS AMAZING. The staff was friendly and constantly checked on us and asked if there was anything that needed improvement. The appetizers, steaks and desserts were amazing. I would definitely come back and recommend this place.

We've been going to the Kinzie Chophouse for 20 years, but it's been 4-5 since our last visit. New ownership has made some "fancy" changes and the entire place has a more formal feel. The food and service are still top notch and we had wonderful dinner.

We had a wonderful time here. The food was great and we enjoyed the caramelized onions and gorgonzola cheese mashed potatoes and seafood salad. The cocktails were yummy and the atmosphere was fun and vibrant. Hugo was an awesome waiter and had a refreshing and jovial personality. We will definitely be back!

I went here for Valentine’s Day and received the 5 course dinner. Where we were seated, we could bump elbows with the two couples on either side of our small square table. Drinks were not included in the meal but gratuity is added to the bill. Plates were $120 a person. The steak for the main course was absolutely incredible, but the duck tasted like a large fried chicken nugget. The atmosphere was romantic. In shorter words, it is a nice restaurant; but it is expensive and not worth the money.

1. Cockroaches on the wall in the dining room - they moved our table. 2. Steaks are low quality (not trimmed, for example). 3. Forgot parts of our order. This is one of the worst steakhouses for the money - Chicago Cut, Joe's, Bavette's, Smith and Wolensky - all better. In fact I would take Weber Grill over this place.

Very very disappointed! My wife and I were visiting Chicago ND booked Christmas eve dinner here as they were offering what looked like a very nice 5 course dinner. Food was very average. Highlights were the soup and goose wellington. The "potato gratin" and "mixed vegetable" sides were disgusting. Literally chopped up potatoes thrown in with mushy broccoli, Brussel sprouts and covered in melted cheese with broth. Mu wife even found pieces of chicken in hers. For $250 you'd expect much better. Wouldn’t be coming back.

Food never disappoints at this steakhouse. Filet was so tender you could cut it with your fork. Great flavor and good variety of options. The service was outstanding, accommodating with our 2 children and was there when we needed something without being too much. Our server had a wonderful demeanor and really made the night. In a time when many are struggling to find quality staff, Kinzie Chophouse's team is top notch. Didn't miss a beat and our meal was amazing.

In general the place is good. A couple of items to note that I could not find anywhere on the open table description of the restaurant. First, we drove to the city to meet friend from California so we wanted to have a leisurely dinner and catch up. We had a 6:30 reservation and were there about 90 minutes when they told us that they needed the table and they had a 90 minute policy. Second, we were a party of 4 and they included the tip. It was only 20%, which I probably would have tipped at least that much but I'm not used to have a tip included on a party of 4. Third, the restaurant is right under the L, so eating outside would not be a good idea. Hugo was our server and he was prompt and friendly. The food was good but not great. This would not make my top 10 for a steakhouse in Chicago.

Date with my wife was enhanced by the outdoor “in the middle of it” setting as we dined outside. The lit up trees were festive but the occasional rumblings of the nearby L tracks made it just a bit less romantic. Overall nice city ambiance. The waiter was knowledgeable but was not “reading the room” as he rambled on more than needed about everything on the menu. Steaks are just not that complicated. Superb cocktail sauce with the shrimp appetizers, made in house. Sauces accompanying the crab cakes on the other hand a bit bland…..not a hint of wasabi in the one labeled as such. Prime rib was nicely crusted and well marbled giving it a moist texture and bargain priced. Not at the quality level of the now departed Lawrys steakhouse…..but a solid B. Prompt service from the kitchen and wait staff. We will return.

Poor experience. Reservation was for 8. We weren’t sat until 8:30. Host said he will comp us something for our wait. He never followed through. After waiting 30 mins, we were sat in the back room which ambiance is terrible. My wife ordered the filet and it was cooked poorly as it was bland and lacked flavor. We will 10 minute walk from here but will bit be returning due to this experience.

We have been dining (and lunching) here for years & always enjoy our stay. We do find it odd they accept reservations for 4p (this is the moment they open) & will seat walk ins this early as well when clearly they aren’t really ready yet, haven’t had the staff debrief &c. On such occasions service on the back half of our visit is always far more attentive & comprehensive than the first half. I would suggest either prep needs to begin half an hour sooner or they need to block off reservations until 430 despite opening at 4. Otherwise we come back again & again because we love it here.

For an expensive ($250 with tip) dinner for two, you expect a lot. Friday night at 8, sold out of prime rib. Baked potato with burned skin. NY strip steak ok but overdone with salt. The worst part, though, was Nico, the host. Twenty something full of himself, probably related to owners. When we arrived only table was at front door next to table of 3 patrons who had been there for quite a while, sloppy drunk. After asking about any other tables, he must have been offended, told we could wait indefinitely at bar. We chose to be seated and next table over thankfully became more restrained. At end of meal, Nico comes by our table, not to ask how things were, but commenting how we had cleaned our plates, and not picking up any of the service. The tone was “you ate like pigs”. That was last straw. Plenty of other better places for mediocre food that aren’t so obnoxious
