Kinzie Chophouse Ratings and Reviews
From the time we walked into the restaurant, the service was outstanding. The hostess gave a warm greeting and a woman came up to us in the bar area asking us if she could help us get a drink. The steaks and lamb chops were excellent. I wanted to make sure that the lamb chops were rib, not loin, and the waiter went and showed me so I could make the decision. The autumn tasting menu was a great value and the scallops were very tasty. The menu is very diverse and the pricing is reasonable for what you get. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again!
This has been our go to place for several years when we attend the One of a Kind Show across the street at the Mart. As a matter of fact, I make these reservations before I secure seats on the AMTRAK from western Illinois. Great service, welcoming greeting at the door, and a menu that appeals to our variety of tastes. Kinzie Chop House is a refreshing respite from all the hustle and bustle of the show. See you next year!
Although our food was excellent dining here was a frustrating experience. We arrived 20 minutes prior to our 9:00 pm reservation and were not seated until 9:20. We were not acknowledged by our waiter until 9:48 pm. We had to request the bread baskets that are normally brought when water is served. Our waiter was not friendly and seemed annoyed with waiting on us. We had to ask questions about the menu, he did not offer suggestions, specials, etc. After finally serving our drinks, he disappeared for another 10 minutes although we told him we were ready to order. Finally received our food at 10:30 pm. When paying he shorted one of our party $40.00 change. When called on it he replied, oh yeah. We asked for the manager when leaving and she didn't seem to care much for our complaints. Our party was 8 women ages 50 - 60 on a week-end shopping trip. Kinzie Chop House came highly recommended and we were very disappointed with the service.
Wonderful restaurant. We come to Chicago often and this will be one of our "go to" places for sure! We had the rib eye & it was very tender and flavorful , also tried the broccoli w/ gouda & highly recommend the mac & cheese. Everything we tried was very good.
This place is so consistent. Every time we go there, the steaks are perfect...the service is impeccable...and the place is beautiful. We go for almost all our special occasions! We just went 2 days ago for my 40th bday and to celebrate our first baby and the staff went above and beyond to make it special. ESPECIALLY our waiter, Chase!!! He's darling and gave such good service :)
Great Happy Hour, nice specials and friendly staff and crown in the bar. Afterwards move to the dining room for a wonderful service and food. Careful you will need a cab when you leave as you will not be able to stop eating until you fall into a food coma. ENJOY!
Three-course prix fixe menu is an excellent value -- especially if two of you order different items in each course and share everything (including the coordinated wine pairings!). Everything was prepared and seasoned nicely, except the avocado appetizer and butternut squash pasta dish had *no* salt whatsoever.
From the time we entered we were greeted with big smiles and a sense of genuine warmth. Chase, our waiter, was fantastic! He immediately made us feel at home! Knowledgeable and enthusiastic, he made me feel like my selections would have been his choice for me as well!
The wine list was extensive and his patience limitless as we tried to make a choice. The steak (filet for me) and the special preparation (whiskey peppercorn) was outstanding. The sides (broccoli fondue and mushroom risotto) were both very good, but too large to finish. If we were local I would have packed it up to go for sure! The desert our waiter chose (for the birthday we were celebrating) was exactly what we would have picked and it came out without consultation and the presentation included a personalized plate and lit candle. It was the perfect night!
Quality of food keeps going down. My steak (their specialty) was not very good. We visit Chicago every year and have visited them the last 3 years. Last year was disappointing and this year was as well. Thought maybe last year was just a one off bad meal but we were disappointed in the quality of main course again.
Wait staff was great, and ambiance was nice, but food was disappointing. They did not offer a 6oz filet, and there is no way I can eat an 8oz, so I ordered the salmon. It was cooked way overdone and the fish was actually chewy! I heard others say the steak was good, but not outrageous.
My wife and I both ordered from the three course Fall Menu with wine pairings. The food was excellent and steaks cooked to perfection. Our service was great, water glass was always full, plates cleared timely after each course, and our server checked back several times to make sure our food was to always our liking. Atmosphere is a little cozy. I would go back again anytime.
