For over 28 years Kinzie has been a Chicago institution for locals and visitors alike. Many of our staff have been with us for over 20 years. We welcome guests to a warm and cozy dining room—complete with excellent service, impeccable food and jazzy background tunes to blend together for a true Chicago experience. Recently the baton was passed to Nicole Flevaris and Andreas Tsakonas, the new owners at Kinzie. Andreas has owned and operated restaurants in Nafplio Greece for over 25 years and has inspired some of the new additions to the menu. From our salmon pastrami, seafood puzzle, vegan and vegetarian options we feel that there is something for everyone on the menu, not to mention what we are famous for, STEAKS! Excellent food excellent service would recommend for any special occasion
We had been here in past over 9 years ago and had the most memorable lemon chicken dish. We got there and were a touch disappointed that it was still not on the menu . Our disappointment quickly changed after I received my petite filet. It was honestly the best filet I have had in years . It was cooked perfectly ( I like rare but not cold in middle ) it had great sear but cook and seasoning were right on. Garlic mashed potatoes side was also great and seasoned to perfection. My husband enjoyed the meatloaf which was also seasoned so good. Our waitress was great. The Bearnaise sauce was also a standout. Will be back to try some of the other items that looked so good. Very good restaurant and a great place to go last minute if you have trouble making reservations at 1 of the more popular Chicago restaurants that require reservations weeks in advance.
Fantastic steaks and seafood! Really enjoyed the food and service. Right up there with some of the best steak houses in Chicago.
Great lunch! Love the risotto and filet mignon!
The food and service remain very good since the change in ownership. The wine prices are outrageous. This was one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago but no longer. $240 for a bottle of Jordan Cab? I don’t think so... I found all the wine prices to be outrageous.
Appetizers were sub-par and they obviously push for side dishes that are in the over-ordering category. When you don’t order a steak, the mood for what was a desired “higher bill” on the servers part changes dramatically.
We came here for our anniversary and arrived to a privately set-aside table with a red votive candle and table place card mentioning our anniversary. Also we were created with a glass of champagne. The steaks were indescribably good. Emma was our server and she was knowledgeable and wonderful. It was by far the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had!
Didn't have either bottle of wine we tried to order, and it took upwards of 15-20min to finally get a glass of wine (drinks came after apps). Steak was a bit over done as well. They attempted to make it up to us by removing our $12 app :/
The service was good, I enjoyed the lounge area.
Great service, great meat, all fresh
Sat outside on the ario area. Only downside was occasional loud traffic, but comes with the territory. Food, service, value were all excellent. If I lived in Chicago I would be a regular customer.
I would go back for our server time and time again. Cuts are good and well prepared. Staff is knowldedgeable and the experience was wonderful.
My husband and I had a nice little corner booth. The service was excellent! She was very knowledgeable and interested. Raw oysters were fresh! We liked that it is a woman owned steakhouse, rare (no pun intended). Noise level was a little high, but there was a particularly loud man in a group.
Would return when back in Chicago.
So we ordered the calamari from the bar menu as part of the buy one get one offer, and were told that they were out of calamari at 5:00pm on a Tuesday. It would have been nice if they had offered to substitute the crab cake appetizer instead.
The food and service was amazing! We will definitely be returning very soon.
Best service I have had in ages.
We sat in the bar, the food was great but service was a bit slow. It was a 2.5 hr dinner
Loved our waiter!!! Extremely personable and was very attentive to us especially when our steaks were delivered to our table. He asked us to cut into the steak to make sure they were prepared to our satisfaction. Could have used more seasoning in the potatoes and the mixed vegetables but overall excellent experience! Steaks were wonderful
My experience was a complete disaster. I ordered a grilled greek salad with seared tuna and waited well over 45 minutes for my food. When it arrived it had grilled tomatoes, scallions, onion bread and tuna that was cooked beyond seared. It was missing feta mousse, pickled cucumber and bell peppers as outlined on the menu. We asked about our order multiple times before it was finally brought out. The table next to us ordered and were told 20 minutes after they ordered that they were out of turkey for the turkey sandwich. There was obviously a significant kitchen issue, but rather than owning it and trying to see what they could do to help, the staff was completely oblivious.
Lustlose Kellner, ein leeres Lokal
Steaks sehr gut
We took my son hear for his birthday. He want Ed a good steak. He ended up getting the prime rib. It was perfect. Cooked just how he lines and a generous portion. I had the delmonaco ribeye. It was dry aged. My steak had plenty of flavor and was also cooked perfectly. I tried the creamy gorgonzola for dipping. It was delicious. We shared and order of mushrooms that were also very good. The service was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. I recommend this place for a great dinning experience.
Our server was great! Food was phenomenal. My wife’s steak wasn’t originally cooked to her liking and they didn’t hesitate to have it remade, which she loved. It was an overall great experience.
No one was eating in the restaurant part. Everyone was in the bar part. That's where I ate. I asked the waiter/bartender between three options, and he was clear on going with the NY Strip. It was one of the best I've ever had. It's not cheap, but that's the way it is for most all the Chicago steak houses.
Aideen is a wonder asset to the restaurant. She always makes the perfect recommendations.
We enjoyed our meal at the Kinzie Chophouse. However, I asked for my steak to be medium rare to rare and it was more or less medium well. I couldn't really see because the lighting was too dim. The waiter asked me to check, so I cut into the middle of the steak and it was medium, but the sides were more on the well done side. I should have sent the steak back, but I wasn't sure, so I kept it and regretted that decision. I would try a different steakhouse next time I'm in Chicago.
Set up a business lunch.
Place is spotless, service is attentive but not annoying, and the food is spectacular.
Food was so slow to come out that we couldn’t finish our lunch before having to leave for our next meetings. Server had too many tables to serve so he couldn’t pay us any attention. No bread was offered. Only one drink refill the entire lunch. I’m hoping we just got there on an understaffed day and it’s not always like this.
Staff was excellent, food was delicious, great place to celebrate birthday. Thank you!
My 2nd visit. Sidney’s service was nearly impeccable ! The short ribs were delicious but slightly salty - Overall great and will be back
Had an amazing birthday celebration with friends. Able to have a reservation for a large party. Very accommodating service to share and split checks. Amazing wine list!!!
Celebrating a friend's birthday. Wonderful food and a little surprise for the birthday gal.
impeccable service - good appetizer - bad porterhouse steak.
I ordered medium rare and got absolutely rare. The meat maus ego into the oven again.
Food was delicious as always. Our server, Emma was AMAZING!!!
lovely place and great food, service very good too
Great food and fantastic service. Every time I come to Chicago I make sure to stop in for dinner. My favorite waiter/somm is Rafi. He's always giving me a taste of a new wine which is always delicious.
Not sure why the menu has changed a little bit. Always a fan but some of the menu changes do not seem consistent with a traditional steak and American fare restaurant.
The background music was a little loud
The food was very poorly executed. We live 1/2 a block away, and despite the convenience, we will not be returning. Wish we hadn’t brought guests our first go.
Great lunch date! Steak was cooked to perfection and crab cake was delicious!
