Kinship Ratings and Reviews
Two of us dined there earlier this week. The food, wine and service were wonderful, but alas our server forgot my husband's entree order. By the time we realized it, it was too late to prepare in time to enjoy with the rest of the meal. Our server gave us the dish in a to-go container, but it wasn't the same. Dang.
Lived in DC 1 year and am always out trying new restaurants. This one had been on my list for awhile and is the best meal I have had in DC thus far. Only thing to lookout for is reservation availability. You definitely need one and they only book one month out, and they go fast!
We ordered the lobster french toast, the Kobe beef carpaccio fried rice, and the doughnuts (among other things, including individual entrees). The french toast was a little overrated, we thought, but the fried rice and the doughnuts lived up to the hype. They were both outstanding.
Every single dish was expertly crafted and delicious. Creative flavor combinations and excellent technique. Relaxed but seamless service. Chef Ziebold really knocked this lineup of dishes out of the park. One of the best restaurants I've sampled in the past 5 yrs.
I recently made my second trip back to Kinship in as many months and was just as pleased as the first time! I am very impressed with the service - the staff is professional, attentive, and friendly. The menu has more than enough for everyone with options ranging from seafood to meat to vegetarian dishes. They range in size from smaller portions to larger portions to be shared by the table. The menu seems to change seasonally, with some additions that incorporate fresh seasonal ingredients (ie: the asian pear salad). Highly recommend the tuna tataki and short ribs! The sea bass is also delicious. The Roma Spritz is a refreshing cocktail that pairs nicely with all the food. I would recommend Kinship to anyone celebrating a special occasion or a night with close friends or family!
Excellence, continued. Returned to Kinship to find it as creative and delicious as in previous visits - once again a treat. This is NOT Food for Dummies. Here you can actually ask your server for details on ingredients, how a dish was composed and other food ephemera and they actually are expert enough to know! Thank you Kinship for sustaining an inviting and compelling dining experience; a true cut above most every where else in the region.
The service and the ambient is excellent. The food was ok. The appetizers were delicious but the entree, was the "famous" chicken was nothing special at all. You have to wait more than and hour for this and the expectations were too high. Maybe this is the problem. For me was a little bit dry and I prefer legs and they serve it mixed with the salad. The potatoes were very good.
My husband and I went specifically to try the whole lobe of foie gras. It was delicious. We also enjoyed the tuna appetizer and the Granny Smith apple dessert. Everything was wonderful! The dining room is beautiful and the service was very nice. I would absolutely go back.
A place with no sign just the street number opens into an intimate entrance with seating area, leading to the bar and dining area. Decor is pretty minimalist, but very clean in design and layout. Jeff our server was very well informed about both the menu as well as offering an excellent choice on the 3 bottles of wine I was interested in, settling on a slightly more fruity French Burgundy. Food ordered:
Maine Lobster French Toast
Mango Marscapone Terrine
Food experience was excellent, each dish crafted for sensory pleasure. The for the table options are really an entree for 2 whereas the rest of the dishes can easily be shared, giving you a good opportunity to order a greater variety. Refined, upscale, professional in every aspect. One fun detail, the knifes for meat are like mini 17th century sabres.
Wonderful experience that lived up to the expectations, thank you everyone :)
Interesting selection of menu items. Something for everyone. Some absolutely delicious, others a little too different for my taste, but I like the variety and trying something new. Reviews I read prior said it was easy to have a conversation with the ambient noise level but I found it difficult at times. I am 60 years old though, and any ambient noise is a challenge for me. Overall, we were happy with our first visit!
