King's Wharf - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
The food was disappointing and the restaurant had absolutely no Christmas decor except for a couple of poinsettias and a Christmas tree in the hallway leading to the restaurant. Disappointed with the dining experience overall. Our waitress was good but it wasn't her fault the food didn't measure up and the holiday spirit in the restaurant was nonexistent.
This was our first time back to the Kings Wharf in several years. We took a friend for dinner and a play. We were so disappointed. We waited for service for 45 minutes. There was confusion with staff. Our meal arrived cold. I sent my vegetable back. The quality was terrible. We won't be back.
We went to King's Wharf prior to seeing Singing in the Rain at the Marriott Theater, which is right next to this restaurant. Our meal was excellent, although I felt it was slightly over-priced for all that was included. Overall the pricing is what you would expect from a hotel restaurant.
Our only really issue was the length of wait we had between completing our meals, receiving the check and getting to pay. We actually had a to flag down another server to find ours so he could take our credit card. Overall, still an excellent option and we had a fun night.
We've been to this restaurant many times. This time was very disappointing. They sat us next to the kitchen entrance. There was a lot of noise and chatter coming from the kitchen. Our server never took away the plate that served the appetizer. My husband's prime rib had a sauce on it that he didn't like. On previous occasions the prime rib had no sauce. My baked potato wasn't done. All in all a very disappointing experience.
The servers seemed to be running around frantically, but there were not that many people in the restaurant. I am never a fan of a server leaving the check before you are done eating. The vegetable was very bland. The steak butter was not melted on our steak. Definitely not what I was expecting.
We had dinner after the theater, the restaurant was cold (temperature) probably due to the high ceiling. Ambiance was great, would like to see it during the day (looked like it had a good view of the golf course) we had trouble finding our way out and went around barricade back through the theater.
Food average. Not a big menu. The 25% off for being a subscriber for the theatre did make it at least a better deal. The French onion soup was bland and the choice of salad dressings poor. The rack of lamb was good , could have used a little more sauce and the potatoes were also bland. The cherry cobbler was very tasty. Menu just didn't offer many choices
My wife and I went to King's Wharf this past Saturday and it was wonderful! Every bite of food was better than the next. I got the scallops and my wife got Oscar tilapia. We haven't been in a couple of years because we have two littles and this is one of those places we'd prefer to go without them. The services was great, the food was phenomenol, even though it's big I'd say it's cozy.
The setting is lovely but the service was horrible. Had to ask for water...it never came. Had to request rolls...never came. We finally had to call over the maitrede to get any service. The restaurant was not busy. Seemed like the waiter didn't want to bother with a table of two. Paid lots of attention to the nearby table...of six. Would never return unless going to a play.
The ambiance truly felt like a wharf , which only matched the menu from a seafood standpoint; that decor belongs in a fish and chips type of place. The food is closer to the upscale but only some of it was good, other parts just "ehhh". Two special requests for no onions- onions came out both times. It was very quiet because the theater crowd had left so the kitchen wasn't backed up trying to accommodate. I had listed on Open Table that it was a birthday but no mention or action from them about it - I would have been happy to pay for a dessert but is it too much to throw a candle in it? I wouldn't say it was bad, I wouldn't say it was great, I guess "fine" is how I would describe it. We all have different tastes and expectations so take this review as you will but note that I wouldn't go back unless it was for convenience, like staying at the Marriott or attending a play.
This was the perfect spot to celebrate my son's graduation from the nearby Navy boot camp at Great Lakes, as the extensive nautical theme/motif fits perfectly with "Anchors Away." The strip steaks and salmon were nicely sized and cooked just right. Appetizers and accompanying vegetables were also tasty, especially the grilled asparagus. The maitre d' and waitress surprised us with a dessert cake with grey frosting and and navy blue anchor decoration in the center. Great atmosphere, great food, great service, I really can't imagine a better spot in the area for this occasion.
Couple of hopefully helpful hints. You get to Kings Wharf via the Marriott Resort Hotel lobby entrance, and there are no signs outside directing you, so be prepared. And although the price points are certainly appropriate for a restaurant of this quality, it may be expensive for some boot camp graduates, so check the menu. Because boot camp graduates cannot drink while on leave, if your group abstains (as we did in a show of solidarity!), the cost can be moderated.
We had dinner near the window overlooking the pond. It was a great experience our waiter was friendly, funny and very attentive. The food was good, so were the drinks. We were celebrating with friends before the show Evita. A wonderful experience I would highly recommend The King's Wharf.
