King's Fish House - Tempe
To create the ultimate seafood experience, we traveled down the highways and byways. We pulled up a seat, put on bibs, and soaked up the seafood experience: The no-name dishes with unforgettable flavor, the fresh-caught oysters and clams piled high, the hand-lettered specials on ancient chalkboards, and the savory simmer of every combination of spices imaginable. The pleasure of preparing and sharing seafood was simple and genuine, and it brought out the best in everyone. Often we felt as if we’d been welcomed into somebody’s home.
That’s what King’s Fish House is all about- and we’ve tried to bring all of these ideas together into one single, spectacular place, filled with camaraderie and celebration, and the things we love best. Welcome to the House that Seafood Built!
Food and service was good. Up charge for side of 5 pieces of undercooked asparagus with $28 dollar modest lunch serving of wild salmon seemed excessive and confusing. Halibut which included two aides was cooked properly. Overall an enjoyable experience.
We celebrated my birthday dinner on Saturday and had a wonderful evening. Service was attentive, yet not overbearing. They made helpful suggestions with our meal and the Manager checked in later in the meal to ensure we were happy. Apps, meals, and dessert were all delicious. We hadn’t been to Kings in some time, but will need to come for dinner again soon.
We had a great evening at Kings. The food was excellent and the kitchen was accommodating of our special requests. We were there to celebrate our son’s birthday and the made it special.
Excellent location and atmosphere for a business lunch.
The food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared with fresh ingredients. The service was terrible. The waitress kept making statements trying to convince us that it was just a one off situation & kept apologizing for the slow service. The restaurant was fairly empty on a non-busy Sunday being at 7:30. Just not a great service experience. We also thought that it was extremely odd and incredibly inconvenient that they couldn’t bypass our debit/credit pins. We were asked one by one to get up and enter our PIN numbers as our bills were cashed out. I can’t imagine that on a busy night that they would have dozens upon dozens of customers get up and go to the register to enter PIN numbers.
Horrible experience poor waitress had No help and the lazy bartender even made her make her own drinks
Good quality mussels but won’t go back
Service was slow and bad. Took over an hour to get a cup of soup. Fish was over cooked and dry. Scallops lacked flavor. Have had better meals at the same restaurant in the past.
Kings fish house dining experience was just superb ! From Crab legs halibut, oysters, sea bass all were prepared perfectly Our server Amy was so very knowledgeable in guiding us through the menu and always there when we needed her without hovering. . Definitely a place we will recommend and return with such a varied seafood menu and quality service.
French fries not impress me any more :-( it used to be very great .
Waiter was aloof. Not very attentive and not rude but not friendly either. It was not very busy. We had a specific question about one meal prep due to dietary constraints and he didn’t confirm with us after we ordered until we flagged him down. Brussels sprouts were over cooked with a distinct charred flavor. The Ono was ordered medium and was dry. The salmon was ordered same way and was under cooked. Since it was not busy we stayed and talked for extended period of time. He never refilled our water after the bill was paid and we stayed about an hour after that. He picked up the check before we left, my experience is that the wait staff waits until the party leaves, unless perhaps the shift is ending, but his was not. I have eaten here many times before and have been pleased with food and service, but not on this occasion.
The portions were very small. His Swordfish was tiny!
I paid $13 for a cadillac margarita....it was tiny! Prices too high for mediocre sea food. My lobster was small, the petite sirloin overcooked all for...$ 52...? Come on....
It was for a birthday. They offered no birthday treat. I will not go here or recomend it. There are too many restaurant options to spend money and get small portions and pay $160 for 2 people.
I had ONE drink he had 2 beers at 9$ a piece!
Step it up fish house I'm assuming you can see this in your sales! Barrio Queen will be a huge dent in sales.
People go to eat seafood expecting amazing seafood. Not mediocrity.
Fish was incredible. Sushi was the freshest we've had here in AZ. Everything was great. Smallest complaint, if I were to make one, interior is a bit dated but, hey, that old school look might appeal to some.
But very enjoyable experience all around, will definitely be back!
Steak was asked to be medium, it was very rare (only seared) after sending back, it was charred and flavorless. Salmon was bland and no seasoning and risotto was undercooked. We enjoyed the beet salad and the African lobster tail.
Incredible seafood options
We arrived at 4:30 PM had the place to ourselves, service was excellent and the seafood was as good as your going to get in the desert.
The halibut was delicious as always. Enjoyed my visit.
I haven’t been here in a few years and forgot how great the food is and how many choices there are. Recently some friends came into town and went there for dinner and loved it, so we decided to go back again and it was really good. Aidan was our waiter and her was exceptional and very nice to our elderly guest who was celebrating her 93 birthday. I had the shrimp and scallop dinner and it was excellent. Another person in our group had the swordfish. The serving size was great as each came with two sides, and there are many sides to choose from. Aidan told the birthday girl that she had a choice of desserts on them. We will definitely be back soon.
This was our second visit to King's and it did not disappoint. Their menu is broad and offers something for everyone. Oysters were fresh, served in a nice presentation. Halibut and parmesan crusted sand dabs were perfectly cooked and delicious. Generous portions of side dishes. Both the dessert menu and the drink menu have many choices. Restaurant was loud.
Great Food! Service was very good! We’ll be back!
Great food and fast service! This will be on my list of preferred restaurants.
We went here for a birthday and anniversary with our entire family everything was just perfect I highly recommend this restaurant
This was the BEST meal and the BEST service we have ever had at Kings!! Rich waited our table like we were the only people there. He was patient in answering our questions and got every detail of our meal just right. The salmon was exquisite and all the food was hot to the table. The coffee was still hot after I added the milk!! Thanks for a great evening!!
Everything was great from service to food! The oysters and fish were amazing! We'll definitely be back.
Server was awesome!
My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch and had great service from Jerry who was there when we needed him and inconspicuous the rest of the time. Food was great as was the service. I highly recommend the King's Fish House for a nice lunch or dinner.
As always, our server was top-notch, helpful in guiding our party to making great choices.
And the food . . . as always it was spectacular!
Good food . Poor service.
My first visit to King's Fish House. Lots of things to choose from on the menu - which changes every day. Really good food. My friend liked her meal as well. Would come here again.
Excellent food and a fun place to celebrate a birthday.
From the oysters, to the seasoned artichoke, topped off with fresh halibut, one couldn’t ask for a more deliciously fresh dinner! Our server was so charming and thorough. Michelle, the manager, came over to say hi and check in.
One of the best dry Martinis I have ever had! We’ll be back!!
Staff attentive but non intrusive. Food excellent. Seafood is fresh
I love oysters and the ones I had at Kings were delicious. Also enjoyed the roast beet and goat cheese salad.
Terrible. Serving spoiled mahi-mahi. The manager did not seem to be concerned at all. She handed her business card saying Call if you have questions. Not only I am not going there again and telling my friends about this experience, but hoping that this place gets penalized for serving spoiled food.
The wait staff and service was great. The food was excellent. We had a great experience.
The food was amazing! This was our first time going!
Great menu. Terrific waitperson. The only negative was the amount of noise in the place, not from customers (we were about the only ones there at 8:15pm on Sunday) but from the staff clanking dishes as tables were bussed and other noise by staff laughing and giggling with each other. Having said that, we will definitely go back again.
First time patrons. Heard good things so decided to try. Ambiance and interior warm and inviting. Service exceptional. We both ordered the lobster roll. On the brioche roll it was filling. We noted both claw and tail meat in it. As a comment, the traditional ones back east are all tail meat. Taste was about average. The fries were great. The Cole slaw was not good. No flavor, dry and not at all creamy. Mama's Little Fella Pils was a nice surprise. We'll return again and try something else. Regardless, I graded liberally.
As always, our dinner at King's Fish House was a wonderful experience. The service is terrific, the food even better. My wife had the Lobster Clambake and is still basking in the afterglow. Then, of course, there is their astonishing home-made ice cream for dessert. Never tasted better. Anywhere. Will be bringing our friends who've never been there to check it out soon.
It took a loooonnnnnggggg time to get our oysters as an appetizer. Then our dinner was missing things and we were never asked if we wanted another bar drink. Our server was really new and doing her best so that’s why I would recommend trying the place out at least once. It’s a pretty pricey meal and would certainly be more worth it if they button up a few issues.
