King's Fish House - Orange
To create the ultimate seafood experience, we traveled down the highways and byways. We pulled up a seat, put on bibs, and soaked up the seafood experience: The no-name dishes with unforgettable flavor, the fresh-caught oysters and clams piled high, the hand-lettered specials on ancient chalkboards, and the savory simmer of every combination of spices imaginable. The pleasure of preparing and sharing seafood was simple and genuine, and it brought out the best in everyone. Often we felt as if we’d been welcomed into somebody’s home.
That’s what King’s Fish House is all about- and we've tried to bring all of these ideas together into one single, spectacular place, filled with camaraderie and celebration, and the things we love best. Welcome to the House that Seafood Built!

My husband and I are two completely different diners. He travels the world for business and eats in amazing places...me - I’m a down home meat and potatoes gal. So this review is good - just picky. First - our server was a bit scattered - but he made up for it in humor and attentiveness- so he gets an “A”. We were seated promptly with our open table reservation - another “A”. Special cocktail was prepared “A++”. I ordered the Caesar salad - which was fresh, perfectly dressed and HUGE - and the Ahi tuna appetizer as a main. Unfortunately it was super spicy (for me - I find salt and pepper spicy), wish it had been identified as spicy on the menu - but I brought the left overs home and my son assured me that it was delish. Picky hubby had the crab cake appy - said he thought it was pre-prepared and would have preferred it to be a bit lumpy-er. But he had the Ono for dinner - and it was like heaven on a plate. Chef prepared it medium rare and it tasted like butter - kudos. Place is busy (so really that’s a good thing - means people like it) and it’s noisy (because people like it) - and would we go again - absolutely!!
Great food and service. The lobster and oysters were so delicious!!! Highly recommend
Great sea food option - presentation of food was good and service was great. Location gets packed so arrive early or prepare to park a little further out.
This is my wife’s favorite restaurant. We were celebrating her birthday. She ordered the shrimp and scallops. They were wonderful!! I ordered the crab cakes. It was a great way to celebrate her birthday.
We dine at King's frequently and have never been disappointed. We had out favorite waiter (Frankie) and everything was outstanding. We entertained some new friends and they enjoyed the entire evening.
I usually like this restaurant, a lot. Have been coming for close to 20 years. Came here with family to celebrate my birthday. Had a reservation, but still had to wait upon arrival. While waiting, I ordered a beer in the outdoor patio area and it never came. Hostess never came to get us when our table was ready, we had to go ask after waiting 25 minutes. We were seated in a terrible location with foot traffic of servers all night (there were other tables open). Waitress was nice, but she did not check in on us to see how we were doing throughout the evening. Food took 35 minutes to arrive, with no apologies for the wait. Frustrating, especially when you choose a "special" place to celebrate a birthday. Won't be jumping to return anytime soon. SERVICE is EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
Our party of 6 had a diverse selection of entrees. Everyone enjoyed their meal immensely. Open Table's 5-star rating system did not give me enough space to describe the excellent service we received throughout the evening.
Arrived about 20 minutes early and waited in the waiting area, tried to order a drink at the bar but the bar area was too busy, I suggest that a waittress be assigned to the waiting area for customers that may want a drink while waiting for their table.
There were four of us for dinner and we had reservations. We waited about 5 minutes before we were seated. Katie was our server and she was attentive and took good care of us.
Birthday dinner was delicious
Can’t complain about a thing! Food, service, ambience wonderful.
The music was pretty loud on the patio where we sat, and they turned it down upon our request- which was great! Restaurants tend to blaster bad music.
Awesome was very happy with everything no complaints
our waitress Hanna was amazing and should be commended. The service was amazing and she was attentive but nit overbearing She totally made our dining experience a great one.
Sea bass was perfect. Save room for dessert because the Butter cake was delicious!
Had the restaurant week tasting menu which was a great value. Loved the butter cake which I had never had. This is our go to restaurant and we really like the decor update!!
It was a lovely setting and the food was good. The presentation was great.
Food was underwhelming.
This was not the first time visiting Kings in Orange and Huntington Beach. I find the food and service to always be consistently excellent. Keep it up!!
Our server Julianna was awesome, everything came out perfectly timed and was really delicious!
New decor is great and it is quiet/"conversation friendly".
This place is so predictable. We always get the steamed clams and they are so tasty. This time we got a spiny lobster for the table. It was outrageous. Clam chowder is always money. Also had the shrimp Louie that is wonderful. The service is always quick and friendly. Go!!!
Had a nice dinner with the family on Saturday evening. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The remodel is great! We had excellent service and really enjoyed our dinner.
Good food! Good service!
I have always enjoyed the food at Kings Fish house but last Saturday was the first time My Wife and I had eaten at this one in Orange.
Our waitress Pamela was fantastic we told her that we were there to see a concert and that we were early and wanted to kill some time she accommodated us to the “T” She was friendly and very helpful.
I couldn’t ask for more.
Our server was terrific!
Manager on duty was awesome. We took our executive team after a long day of meetings and it was an awesome environment.
Always a great meal and service
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The food, the service, everything is just the best here. Although I did not get my favorite, the Tuna Melt is the best in Orange county.
The food was fantastic. It was a busy Friday night, but having a reservation got us seated right away. I will be back again and again.
Great place for dinner. I highly recommend the King Crab legs. My wife had the shrimp and scallops that was also great.
Food was great and the service was wonderful
Everything went as planned. Got a booth, very prompt service, the proper amount of time between appetizers and entrees. Couldn’t have been better.
I've been a big fan of Kings Fish House for years, but this last experience was disappointing. We ordered the lobster crunch roll as an appetizer, but it did not arrive until after our food/lunch arrived. The portions in the lunch plates seemed abnormally small… Certainly not a value for what we were paying.
We will return to eat there again. I'm glad this was not my 1st experience at this restaurant.
Waited 45 minutes for my entree and it was partially cooked and cold when it arrived. Service was terrible. A major disappointment.
Food has always been good here. I’m stuck ordering the same fish (swordfish) and a double side of sautéed spinach with garlic. Every. Time. Noise level was high but we managed. Very pleasant and helpful servers.
Great selection of seafood and the staff was simply amazing! The only negative aspect of our experience was we were seated on the heated patio and smokers from the bar kept exiting through the screens and smoking adjacent to our table.
My caveat is that expect slow service. This is the third time we have been there. It takes FOREVER to get a drink, and the drinks are delicious. They say it is because they are squeezing the juice to order. Perhaps they should stop this. There is a lot of money in drinks. We were a table of six and they could have doubled the entire bill just with drinks. That loses the establishment money. That being said, it is a lovely place and the food is great, just don't expect good service. We had to ask for bread twice! Delicious bread though!
King's is our go to place for fish in the area. We typically order Halibut but since it out of season, we opted for the Sea Bass this time and it was very good as well.
Very crowded we had reservations but were still seated next to the bar- new restaurant layout prevents better seating I guess. Food was hit & miss- the sushi roll we ordered was outstanding the sides on our entrees were not edible- mac & cheese was gummy & not close to being warm while my husbands mashed potatoes were not seasoned at all even though they were to be garlic mashed.
Our water glasses sat empty the entire meal- small details matter.
Our server was great, but the lady who took us to our table must not like her job. Tossed menus on the table and said have a nice evening before we could even pull our seats out or take off jackets. Not a great way to start out a Valentines dinner where we were spending good money for a nice evening out. This normally does not happen, but King Fish s/b aware that there people up front to take guest to their tables easily can set the tone for an evening out. If you don't like your job, please find another outlet and not pass it onto your guests.
Food was great as usual. We had Sand Dabs and blackened swordfish.
