King's Fish House - Mission Valley
To create the ultimate seafood experience, we traveled down the highways and byways. We pulled up a seat, put on bibs, and soaked up the seafood experience: The no-name dishes with unforgettable flavor, the fresh-caught oysters and clams piled high, the hand-lettered specials on ancient chalkboards, and the savory simmer of every combination of spices imaginable.
The pleasure of preparing and sharing seafood was simple and genuine, and it brought out the best in everyone. Often, we felt as if we’d been welcomed into somebody’s home.
That’s what King’s Fish House is all about — and we’ve tried to bring all of these ideas together into one single, spectacular place, filled with camaraderie and celebration, and the things we love best. Welcome to the House that Seafood Built!

We frequent the King’s location in Henderson, NV. It’s one of our favorite places to eat so we had high hopes for this location on our weekend get away to SD. The ambiance is great and the service was good. I must say the restaurant wasn’t busy on a Sunday at 7pm so I’m not sure if that’s normal for this location, although in Henderson - reservations are a must any day.
Food was let down. I ordered Fish and Chips, my niece had the kids shrimp meal and my husband had the parmesan crusted sea bass.
The timing of our meals was disastrous. The kids meal arrived first. 4-5 minutes later my husbands arrived and we were told the fish and chips was over fried, so they had to remake it. 10 minutes later my meal arrives. One piece of fish was undercooked and raw and by this point my niece and husband were both done with their meal.
Overall, the food wasn’t good. They did voluntarily remove the fish and chips from our bill, so we were satisfied at the end of the day.
If we return, I hope the quality of food improves.
Food was great, but service was bad. She looked like she didn’t know what she was doing. Nothing like the King Fish in Laguna. When you order a second glass of wine, you pour a little out of the carafe and leave it on the table. You don’t pour it all in the glass on your service tray.
Awesome server and delicious food!! It was all for a great price too!! Definitely will be back!
Keith, our server, made my sister’s birthday extra special. Great food and excellent service.
Excellent food and service with reasonable prices; highly recommend
We wanted to have oysters, so we checked King's Fish House. Many different choices, all wonderful, but the main entrance was outstanding ! I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, one of the best I've had....mmmmm delicious and my friend ordered the Seared Tuna and it was also extremely good.
Our waiter also did an excellent job ! attentive and with many suggestions.
Definitely will be back very soon.
I was looking forward to Soft Shell Crabs.
Great food, great service!! We will definitely be back!!
Love the seafood served here, as well as the awesome cocktails!
The food was just ok. I ordered the sea bass and it was over cooked. My 10 yr old ordered chicken fingers and they forgot about it and she didn’t get her food until everyone was almost finished eating.
The food was good, the service was excellent, ambiance was creative and fun but it was expensive for what you got.
Last minute stop for lunch was glad we were able to make reservation within the hour
Great food will visit again!
First time at this restaurant and it was great. Great selection and great value for your money. Will go again.
Not our first visit. As usual, food and service very good. Same with the unique cocktails.
The food was delicious and the service was great! Our waitress took real good care of us and was able to answer all of our questions regarding the different things on the menu
We love eating here! The food is constantly great! Everyone is so nice!! The prices are good, I think they reflect the price of Fish. Definitely a must try!!’
It's not fine dining or haute cuisine, but they did a very good job with everything we tried. The raw clams are big and plump. The king salmon on cedar plank was done very well. My wife said it might be the best best piece of salmon she's ever had. The King's Combo Platter with fish, shrimp and scallops was excellent. The scallops were huge and perfectly fried, as was the shrimp. The fish was good, but maybe a bit too much batter. The only negative was the fries. McDonald's fries are better. The service was friendly and efficient. Will return.
We ordered oysters, calamari, lobster tails, sea bass and clam chowder. The food was delicious.
Excellent service. Fish was fresh, and tasty.
It was nice to be able to sit inside again. Our server was very nice but unfortunately also had a party of 20 to deal with, thus our service for two was a little disappointing. I will definitely come back again.
Great atmosphere and extremely friendly service. He was a bit slow on the refills and forgot our bread but other than that he was very nice. The food was ok. Some meals were bland while others were tasty. We were visiting from out of town and looking for a local fish house. While we enjoyed the atmosphere we probably wouldn’t come back
Very disappointed with the taste and selection of food. Never going back
I had sushi it was great
Susan was our server again and never missed a beat
Food beyond belief. If you want fish lobster or shrimp this is the best in San Diego.
Best lobster in town
Our server Paige was outstanding! Attentive. Super friendly in a completely authentic way. Food was excellent. Though pricey even for fish. Place was hoping on a Friday night which was good to see. So glad KFH able to weather the pandemic storm.
The variety of menu choices fit everyone in my party. The service was friendly and the food was delicious.
We were very disappointed. While my food was good both of my friends had a problem with their orders. One was resolved but the other was not. I am not sre if I will return.
Restaurant was great but they sat us inside for a table of 5 but I reserved a table for 6 outside
Took 2 hours to eat because service was extremely slow. Food took 30 mins to get there and they were out of menus. Restaurant was only half full. Food was very good though.
Table was 30 minutes late. It would appear that King's is missing wait staff. Waitress was obviously new to the restaurant. Still our go-to spot. They will recover from Covid just like the rest of us.
Amazing food and amazing service! 10 out of 10 will go again!
My guess is that this restaurant is poorly understaffed. The clam chowder and iced tea was great....other than that, everything was sooooooo slow to arrive, and when it did it was bland.
First time at this restaurant and I liked everything about. Will likely go to their other locations as well.
Server was friendly and kept drinks full. Food temperature was perfect And food tastey. Perfect sized portions, though the piece of Halibut I received at the Mission Valley, SD, CA location seemed a slight bit smaller than that I had received at the Carlsbad location two weeks earlier.
Very good food and excellent service. This is the second time we’ve been there this month and we love it and I’m gonna go back into weeks. Thank you so much
I haven't been here in a couple of years. Eating here for the first time since the pandemic, and meeting with an old friend (also for the first time since the pandemic), was just perfect. Our waiter Carlos was exceptionally attentive and personable. I ordered my "usual", the parmesan-crusted sand dabs. Delicious! And I could have just had their fresh-baked sourdough bread for lunch.
We have dined at multiple locations over the last 10 years. This was the worst experience and the food was awful. The portions are smaller and the flavors are off.
Waitress was great!
