King's Fish House - Laguna Hills
To create the ultimate seafood experience, we traveled down the highways and byways. We pulled up a seat, put on bibs, and soaked up the seafood experience: The no-name dishes with unforgettable flavor, the fresh-caught oysters and clams piled high, the hand-lettered specials on ancient chalkboards, and the savory simmer of every combination of spices imaginable. The pleasure of preparing and sharing seafood was simple and genuine, and it brought out the best in everyone. Often we felt as if we’d been welcomed into somebody’s home.
That’s what King’s Fish House is all about- and we’ve tried to bring all of these ideas together into one single, spectacular place, filled with camaraderie and celebration, and the things we love best. Welcome to the House that Seafood Built!
I've reviewed this before because we frequent this place. Attractive room, great food, good service. Favorites: beast Caesar Salad around, best Bloody Mary, sour dough bread, and of course, the fish & seafood.
Best oyster lunch... Ever!
We've dined at King's Fish House many times, and keep coming back for the food. If you like seafood, you will like King's Fish House. The menu is varied with an extensive assortment of fresh fish prepared in a variety of styles. Side dishes and appetizers are excellent, the salads are good, and there is no corkage fee, which is a nice touch. Service has always been slow, and this last visit was no exception, although the waitress was very friendly and attentive. If you're not in a hurry, and you enjoy seafood, you will enjoy King's Fish House.
Fresh king salmon was very tough so did not eat. They did take it off the bill. Additionally they need to rethink the word “seared” albacore for their salad. Very unappetizing.
THE BEST .. LIKE ALWAYS. LOVE THIS WAITER, TOO. Always happy to see him in our Zone! Thanks!
Went for my husband’s bday. Service was nice. The scallops were over cooked. Cool spot since it was remodeled. I will give them another try.
I had the worst piece of fish I have had in a long time. I had the Chilean Sea Bass, but it was overcooked and very tough. Everyone (there were 4 of us) said their food was overdone and mediocre at best. The service was fine, although no one ever asked us how our food was.
As a frequent customer to Kings, our normally awesome service started out poorly. Half orders, missed orders, multiple requests to make corrections, even 3 requests for a glass of ice. Once I asked to have our waiter replaced everything was back to awesome. Cristie(?) the Manager and Heidi took normal (Great), care of us!
Best oysters and atmosphere!
Thank you, Kings!
The fried shrimp was burnt the octopus was burnt and sent back the two fish dinners were cold.
Great ambiance since the remodel. It was a busy Saturday night.
We had to wait for about 20 minutes even though we had a reservation. We got a booth which was nice. Our server told us that she was usually a bartender and she didn't seem to enjoy being a server. She was aloof and almost rude. We brought our own wine, since there is no corkage. That is one of the main reasons we went the Kings.
She slid the wine glasses across the table, even though she could have placed them down. She never poured any of the wine, we poured it all ourselves. We took a while to order since we hadn't seen our friends in a while. She did keep checking back.
The sourdough bread is to die for.
The server recommended the plank Salmon (and the macadamia crusted Halibut, two of the most expensive items on the menu of course) so two of us ordered the planked salmon and one ordered it unplanked. I ordered the San Dabs. We ordered appetizer mixed green salads and each couple split the salad, it was very good. They pre-split the salad for us, which was very nice.
The sand dabs are WONDERFUL! I highly recommend.
One of the planked Salmon dishes was perfectly cooked and the other was so dry that he had to send it back. They let him eat the sides and it took over 20 minutes to get another salmon, so the rest of us were all finished when he got his new plate. The kicker was that they didn't offer to do anything to make up for the mistake, no free dessert or anything. When we asked the manager if they were going to do something, she said that she gave us a second piece so wasn't that sufficient? No. So we asked them for something and they gave us two key lime pies to go. The pie was really good.
I will go back, since the food is usually very good but this wasn't the experience we were expecting.
Long wait for reserved table. Not enough space for customers waiting to check in.
We made reservations and arrived on time, but had to wait 15 minutes even though there were many open tables. We had swordfish which was mediocre. Brussel sprouts were hard and too burned. The baked potato was outstanding. We each had a glass of wine. It was expensive for what we got. We will go again, but probably for Happy Hour!
Seated early but then waited 15 minutes for server to acknowledge us. Food was not good value, 6 Fried shrimp for $22. My wife’s Fish Tacos, 2 for $17 was quite greasy.
Needs more round tables
Noise level very loud and hard to talk at long tables
Mathew was in terrific form on Friday.
Our service was exceptional.
Dinner was delicious.
Good food, outstanding service!!! It was a little warm, but quite hot outside, so hard to keep up the air conditioning, I'm sure.
The Filet Mignon was the best I have ever had!! It cut like butter and was cooked nicely except for the char marks from the grill.
Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful. Made our visit for granddaughters birthday very pleasing for all. Granddaughter requested the restaurant after nice visit for last visit.
My Salmon was very Good! However Several people ordered Salads and the carrots and asparagus were raw and the romaine wasn't chopped but whole leaves and they complained that the salad was dry.
Always an excellent time and superb service. However this time when sushi was brought to table it was delivered without chop sticks. Hostess brought them to me. Then realized there was no soy sauce so asked our server. She brought soy sauce without a saucer to pour it in.
We were disappointed again on the quality of the food. Service was great. It was the start of a holiday weekend so maybe they were understaffed in the kitchen. The fish was bland and oily and yellowtail should not be. The prices you pay here are high so for 135.00 you would expect better. Oh well
I always get the Macadamia nut crusted halibut, which is wonderful! The baked potato was cooked perfectly. My friend got scallops which were a bit smaller than expected but very good.
The waiter recommended 'Decoy' Sauvignon Blanc which was delicious!
Great experience. Crab legs are always delicious at King's. They cooked my wife's filet perfectly (medium rare +). Warm and delicious sourdough bread is also amazing. The only downside was the 'winter vegetables'...I am a guy who usually loves veggies, but these were terrible.
Very crowded seating areas. Clams with chorizo were mushy and bland.
Celebrating our 55th anniversary, we enjoyed another great dinning experience. My favorite crab legs did not Disippoint. My husband's filet mignon was grilled to perfection. Service was perfect! We were treated to a complementary dessert. Our meal was pricey but worth every dime. I made our reservation through OpenTable the day before for a time slot later than our usual dinner time. The restaurant was packed but our table was waiting and ready for us when we checked in. I use OpenTable when ever I can, great program!
A large, energetic and noisy restaurant but the food and service were great.
Arrived 10 min before reservation time & informed the host we had reservations.
Seated right away. Waiter named Chris was awesome, checked in on us often. Food was just all right. Wife had Fish & Chips and I had the Chilean Sea Bass Tacos. Just a chill lunch on a hot day but what sucked was that I received a email from OpenTable that stated we didn’t show up to this said Dining Appointment. Either the host forgot to put in the check mark for our arrival or there is some unorganized disconnect between the restaurant & OTable. Either way it is a hassle for me due to extra time used to correct the inaccurate info & the underlying message from OTable that future reservations may be affected. Disappointed.
Overall very a Good !!!
Wonderful food great service. Thank you.
Great server and great atmosphere! Super yummy food
The food is always excellent as is the service. This is our favorite seafood restaurant in south OC and go there often .
Atmosphere, food & service staff are top notch. Only negative is the kitchen is a lot slower than normal compared to other restaurants.
King’s just remodeled and it’s great! Very cool interior with big bar, inside and covered patio. We had a booth that was super comfortable.
Shawn was our server and she was terrific.
Great food, service, and ambience. We’ll be back.
I do recommend reservations for prime time.
Very enjoyable! We all enjoyed our entree’s and the service and ambiance was great.
We made a plan to meet here every 3 months.
Always a pleasure, everything was perfect our special request was accommodated plus more we ran into friends A+ +++
First off who doesn’t like the warm bread and butter! I’m definitely enjoying their sushi selection 2 rolls at a time. Crunchy lobster roll was delicious and the asparagus was a nice touch. The staff, Emma checked in to talk eating raw fish with me, is always kind and courteous!
We had 6 oysters, 2 kinds from Washington state added Fresh shrimp to oyster platter. Came with the house made jalapeño sauce and fresh horseradish. Seared albacore sushi roll was also very good!
Since they redecorated their facility, the experience has been terrific. It is much more comfortable, and the whole environment seems much more lively and enjoyable. The menu is them same, with excellent seafood at reasonable prices. Definitely one of our favorites.
The food at King's is consistently good, and we always enjoy that there is enough variety in the menu offerings that everyone in our party is happy. One of us had a seafood salad, another sushi, and another a full traditional fish dinner. Our server was attentive and charming. We sat outside because we find the inside of the restaurant a bit noisy since they refurbished it.
King's is always one of our favorites in the neighborhood.
Always great service and superior seafood!
