King's Fish House - Huntington Beach
To create the ultimate seafood experience, we traveled down the highways and byways. We pulled up a seat, put on bibs, and soaked up the seafood experience: The no-name dishes with unforgettable flavor, the fresh-caught oysters and clams piled high, the hand-lettered specials on ancient chalkboards, and the savory simmer of every combination of spices imaginable. The pleasure of preparing and sharing seafood was simple and genuine, and it brought out the best in everyone. Often we felt as if we’d been welcomed into somebody’s home.
That’s what King’s Fish House is all about- and we’ve tried to bring all of these ideas together into one single, spectacular place, filled with camaraderie and celebration, and the things we love best. Welcome to the House that Seafood Built!
Able to sit outside. Everything from the waitress, to the food and ambience was great. Will definitely be back.
This meal was perfect! We had amazing oysters and crab cakes and then we shared the Scallop entree.
Clam chowder is always my favorite.
It's conveniently located in the Bella Terra shopping center right off the 405 freeway. It's a great meetup place for us coming from Long Beach, Seal Beach, and Irvine. We enjoyed the food options, drink options are exceptional, and service was great. Service was fast, especially drinks. I love the Agave Sting, had two! Seafood was fresh. This will become our hangout place to catchup with friends and families.
Mediocre food and a server who barely acknowledged our existence. Not to mention they did nothing to celebrate my mom’s birthday even though I put it in the notes of the reservation. I will never go back there.
Delicious food, friendly service
Great food as always
Staff always great
This was my first visit in many years; I had eaten in the Long Beach location many years ago and remembered it was a good choice. Our visit to the Huntington Beach was somewhat taking a chance. We were not disappointed except that our waiter (Josh) mistakenly did not note our request for a Roasted Beet salad. When we brought it to his attention he brought us some beets which we inserted into the salad he had previously delivered. While not exactly what we had ordered it was satisfactory. Otherwise all of our food was excellent and Josh's service was also excellent and we were satisfied with the quality of the food and the service. I would recommend it to others and would not hesitate to return in the future.
For a place that sells so many oysters our waiter couldn’t tell us crap about them. So had to guess which they ended up pretty good! But that’s it. We shared beers battered fish and fries...fish was tasteless completely and fries taste like fish lol!! Not great being seafood is what they do!!! 🤷♂️ Good news our cocktails were great!!! 😀. Always a silver lining somewhere!!!
Absolutely! I held a dinner gathering for my husband birthday and we were happy and we enjoyed our visit together. The waitress made that possible, she was on task the entire time. The staff was great! The experience there was so welcoming!
The server did not seem like she wanted to be there and was not very friendly. I asked for water 3 times and never got it.
It is a pleasant place, but the food was OK for fish house. It was also a bit pricey for what you get. Service was good.
The service at King’s Huntington Beach was excellent. Diana was our server and very attentive to our needs. I ordered a glass of wine and it was evident the bottle had been opened too long. Wine had a vinegar taste. Diana immediately had the manager serve us wine from a newly opened bottle.
This said, the items on the menu are priced too high! You may lose our business if prices continue to rise.
We celebrated a birthday here and enjoyed it very much. All four entrees were delicious and generous. Wine selection and drink selection are good. Sourdough bread is the best! Service was great! Highly recommend!
Good food and good service!
Good service but the food was served room temperature. The fish was dry and the bake potato was slightly above room temperature.
Finally had a chance to get out just the two of us and went there for a nice dinner before a movie. My wife had salmon and I had halibut. Wife’s fish was way over cooked and had to be sent back. So I had to eat my dinner while she waited and then I waited for her to eat. It happens... manager apologized and brought out the new plate... but they never offered anything for the inconvenience. No discount... no dessert... another drink... nothing! Maybe it happens too often for them to reciprocate or to care. It’s too bad because we like their fish and have gone there often... but they don’t care about service so we won’t be back.
Service was a little slow but it was very busy. The manager compensated for the slow service and comped dessert and extra shrimp. Can’t complain.
The sea food was very fresh. Had a great taste. I would go here again, this place is awesome and service was good.
We ate outside on the patio, which was really nice, though a bit loud (as one would expect outside). Romeo was our server, and gave us just the right amount of attention without going overboard. Really excellent meal with the family of 7. Thank you!
We ate outside on the patio and it was fabulous. Nice cool breeze and minimal chatter. The clam chowder is amazing. It never disappoints. My hubby got the grilled Mahi Mahi and he said it tasted fishy. (Ewwww) my Cobb salad with shrimp and scallops was huge. Definitely will share it next time.
The servers intentions were good but she was overwhelmed with work, so was relatively in attentive to our needs. The manager, who walked through once, paid no heed to any of the tables needs on the patio, which were plentiful and obvious. Main issue is with service as they need more staff on weekend evenings
Best Birthday ever!! I loved my meal and will definitely go back!! Highly recommend this place!!!!
Had a great time at King's Fish House. It was my first visit there and they surpassed my expectations in every way. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. We received our order in a timely manner and the atmosphere was lively but pleasant. I highly recommend King's Fish House to anyone who enjoys great food (seafood) and great service! I can't wait till my next visit!
We were pleasantly surprised by the food and service here. We ordered oysters as an appetizer but they did not come out until after our main course. The manager came and was very apologetic, comped us out the oysters and offered complimentary dessert, and we hadn't even complained. On the waitress's recommendation we ordered two crusted dishes (parmesan-crusted sand dabs and lemon-nut crusted sea bass), and they were both excellent. The kids had mac & cheese and the kids' salmon with french fries, and they were delicious -- our kids are picky eaters but they ate every bite. The freshly baked sourdough bread was a big hit too. We will definitely come back!
Several items were wrong when we received our orders. All our food items did not come out at the same time - had to wait 5 minutes extra for last persons dish.
They have a nice patio and sat us at a table that looked like it would shortly be in full sun. We asked the waitress to move where there wouldn't be sun and she said the table would not get any more sun than what it had. She didn't move us and she was wrong about the sun. Food was mediocre.
The shellfish plate with an assortment of fresh seafood was excellent. I normally don't eat raw oysters but the fresh condiments and the oyster itself was outstanding, as was the other assorted shellfish on the platter of ice and seaweed (nice presentation) for our first course (appetizer).
We were there on the 4th of July for dinner and had the place mostly to ourselves (I guess everyone was either barbecuing or at a restaurant closer to the beach). It's not unusual for a restaurant to fall short when things are slow (sending home chefs or wait staff or both) but that was not the case at Kings.
The service and food were both outstanding. Perfectly cooked filet, lobster, scallops and shrimp. Our server, Diana, was attentive, very helpful, and super-friendly. One of the most pleasant and tasty dinners anyone could hope for!
Good food, very accommodating and eager to please! We will be there again and again.
Mixed thoughts on this place. Some things were pretty good and some weren't. I got the shrimp/scallop combo - not much food for what you pay, and it was cold when it arrived, so I sent it back. My son ordered the Hot Seafood Combo, but they brought him the King's Combo Platter. They acted like this mix-up was our fault - like we really had ordered the combo platter and then changed our minds. When we ordered, I asked about all the various sauces that came with the seafood combo to match each item, so I know what I ordered for my kid. Then, we didn't even get the right sauces! And they offered nothing for this error or my cold food or how long things took. My dad got the beer battered fish - that was actually good. Thankfully, he's a slow eater, so the delay in our food gave him more time, lol! The fried jumbo shrimp and calamari were also good. Did not like the blackened shrimp taquitos or Caesar salad - hardly any dressing, and they didn't tell us they charge for anchovies. They did a nice job of packing up our leftovers - but only gave us one set of plastic utensils! If we lived in the area, I would probably give them another try and order totally different items to see if the experience was better. We recommended this place to people at our hotel before we tried it, and they actually had a better experience than we did!
Horrible service on Thursday night. Food was cold, service was non-existent and the servers were rude. As an individual who has gone to this kings fish house in the past it was very disappointing for a birthday dinner. I will certainly think twice about going back there anytime soon. So sad that good restraints are becoming no better than a fast food restaurant with exorbitant prices.
We have been to King's several times. The service and food is always superior. Service on Saturday was even better than usual. Would always recommend this restaurant.
The soft shell crab was fantastic and it can be prepared three different ways. I'll be back soon.
Always a great dining experience. Polite servers and very timely. Will return soon.
Started off well with appetizers though not impressed w/ the hard cider from a can. Salads came next, which was followed by a very long wait for the main entrees. Waiter graciously apologized. Could not understand the long delay as the place was not busy. After more than 1.5 hours into the meal, the entrees came. One grilled yellow tail order was dry & the batter on the fish & chips was disappointing. I was shocked by the presentation of the food. Not sure why anyone would place small undressed two items on a large metal platter. I get that the plate/ metal pan is supposed to give the “sea”worthy impression - it doesn’t. Can’t believe that was approved by anyone. It does not match the atmosphere.
Overall I was very disappointed & will not be returning.
Note: Tim, the waiter, & the mussels w/o tomato (original??) were the best parts of the experience.
Really great Father’s Day lunch with the young adults we call kids. Delicious and they were able to treat Dad! Our server Tim T was Awesome! Knowledgeable, friendly, made Great and thoughtful suggestions , and more. Overall a Grand experience! Thank you KFH and staff!
Our dinning at King's is always the most pleasurable, that's why we always return. This past Saturdays dinner was excellent as always. I have to mention our Server" Diana", she treated us as if we were her only guests, EXCELLANT SERVICE!! I can't wait to return to dine!
The food temperature was not good. I was expect to hot but it was lukewarm.
