Originally opened by Jane Vobe in 1772, this authentic reproduction public house serves up a transporting experience for the senses in Colonial Williamsburg. Everything is true to the time period at King’s Arms Tavern, from the fashion sported by servers to the pewter candlesticks—all adding to an air of colonial elegance. Inspired by 18th-century recipes, but with updates to suit 21st-century tastes, tuck in to a chophouse menu featuring prime rib, pork chops, and more.

ADA Accessible dining is available in the Purdie Kitchen. Please note this colonial building is separate from King’s Arms Tavern. Please check-in at the front, and our host will escort guests to the Purdie Kitchen.

Wonderful experience, made possible by our outstanding server, George. Food was excellent and so was the commentary that George provided. Also very much enjoyed the musician who visited our private room. All six of us had a great time. Highly recommend!

We come here usually at least twice a year. We love the atmosphere and historical significance of the tavern. The food is reliable. Salman was our server and he hors an excellent job. He’s friendly, soft spoken and polite. We’ve never had a bad experience here.

Fantastic Food was delicious! We have been there at least four times over the years and this time was the best. Chef came to our table as I have allergies and I wanted guidance on the menu. Such a special place!

We had a wonderful dinner. The food was superb (and they were able to accommodate my gluten and dairy restrictions), the staff was lovely, the live musical was great, and to top it off, you get an informative history lesson about colonial tavern experiences. Excellent night out with the hubby!

All of our food was wonderful, although we miss some old favorites like beef pasties, watermelon pickle on the relish plate, triffle dessert, and green gage plum ice cream. Also, although the raspberry syllabub was good, I prefer the traditional lemon flavor.

My husband, in-laws, and I had an absolutely delightful evening at the Kings Arms Tavern. From start to finish, it was a memorable dining experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Not only was the food outstanding but so was the ambience and service. My meal was a colonial period meal that may have been similar to that served in that timeframe. Our waitress Cathy was outstanding. She was knowledgeable and friendly. We will certainly dine at King’s Arm again.

Our server John was the absolute best. He was warm, kind, full of historical knowledge and made our Anniversary dinner, as well as the dinner of the lovely family of six dining near us a pleasant and thoroughly memorable experience. He and the musician that played are a credit to The King’s Arms and made this our best visit in years. Thank you!

We've been to Kings Arms twice, and the food has always been impeccable. The service is good too, although our server this time didn't take time to really explain the menu or history to us as much as other servers were doing. It's pricey, but if you want excellent food based on historical recipes and in a historical building, then it's the place to go.

Food was very good. My husband had Tomato Basil Soup, Game Pie and Bread Pudding. I had Salmon and Chocolate Custard. Our server didn't really give us much of the historic information we've come to expect which was a little disappointing.

Kings Arms was everything I remember from many years ago. Our waiter, John, was very entertaining explaining the goods and traditions of the 18th century with an appropriate sense of humor. We also enjoyed the harpist. We had a great evening at the Kings Arms.

This is my go to ColonialTavern when in Williamsburg especially when taking someone for the first time. As always it was wonderful! Food was fabulous. Service was impeccable. The Thomas Jefferson bread pudding was exquisite. If you can only do one Tavern this is the one to do.
