Kingfisher Bar & Grill Ratings and Reviews
I first visited Kingfisher 20 years ago and loved every meal. Now when I return to Tucson I always check to see if the restaurant is still functioning and am always elated that it has stayed the inevitable restaurant wars which in itself is a tribute to the quality of the food and service. This visit was more of the same: excellent food, well prepared and served pleasantly by knowledgeable wait staff. I am looking forward to my next visit the next time we are in Tucson.
Lovely experience, out server was very enthusiastic about the specials and we loved every dish, from appetizer to dessert. However, our Mexican hot chocolate torte was cold when it arrived at our table and we had ordered it because we thought that it’d be warm...nevertheless, we very much enjoyed our experience at Kingfisher and will be back again!
Service was unacceptable. We were ignored many times. Asked to see a dessert menu at end of meal and after 20 minutes, we just flagged down a waiter (not ours) and asked for the check. Lous, large party next to us and it was so noisy. No one from the restaurant asked them to be quiet although both we and the people on the other side of them complained. the people on the other side of them asked them to please "keep it down". very unpleasant. Will not return. Only went to the restaurant because our guest liked the ribs there. Skip it, if you can avoid it until they get their act together.
Very good service, delicious and generous cocktails. We had the calamari as a first course; it was very good and the portion was generous. We both ordered the fish special was lenguado (sole), which was served with asparagus and goat cheese polenta; again, generous portion and really excellent flavors and the fish was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc with dinner which complimented the meal really well. For desert we had the pecan tart and creme brule, which were both good although not exceptional. Overall a very nice dinner and we would definitely return.
We have been going to the Kingfisher for over 5 years and have found it a wonderful dining experience. Teddy Hall, the manager offers excellent service both within the dining and bar areas. His staff have been there for sometime and for frequent customers such as us they always greet us with hugs and smiles. The fresh seafood cannot be beaten anywhere in the Tucson area. After a meal we enjoy a cocktail or two in the cosy bar area. Jim Diamond, Payton and Eric all great waiters offer excellent service and may also offer their expertise for a wine or cocktail. If you are a frequent customer the waiters will usually have your beverage of choice ready before you are seated. We definitely recommend the Kingfisher to all our visitors or friends. We will continue to make the Kingfisher our first choice if dining out. Thanks again to all the wonderful staff.

We began with shrimp cakes as an appetizer. I enjoyed a perfectly prepared king cosmo, tasty and not overly sweet. My husband had a perfect vodka martini. Outstanding! I had the linguado, serves over a delicious risotto. My husband enjoyed the fish and chips, some of the best fish and chips in town.
Celebrated my birthday and though we were so content after dinner, decided to take free slice of cake home. Great to have a quiet, peaceful place where we could just talk without screaming at each other. Definitely an adult place with all the good things that implies.
Our server Ryan was top-notch. Our appetizers were lobster bisque and Caesar salad, as well as the Pacific Northwest oysters..Everything was wonderful but the oysters were barely there. (I'd read this on previous posts so I wasn't surprised but still disappointed.) For our entrees we had the sea bass and the mixed grill which were fantastic. The portions were a nice size, cooked right, and tasted great. Our dessert was the creme brulee and Mexican hot chocolate torte which were also very good. Great service, food, and wonderful ambiance.
The menu at Kingfisher is varied and interesting and the food is superb. Portions are generous - the desserts are large enough for two. Although the restaurant is very large the service is attentive and the noise level low to moderate. Somewhat pricier than where I usually eat but well worth the extra cost as the food is excellent. Loved it! and we even had live music on New Year's Eve which rounded out the evening.
Excellent meal! Great service. The Oysters Rockefeller were delicious. The oysters themselves were very small, but the flavor was so good. We each had that evening’s specials and enjoyed both. Very quality ingredients perfectly cooked. We enjoyed having a wide variety of Manhattans to choose from. Both were well crafted. We look forward to returning very soon.
I found Kingfisher on the internet when looking for a restaurant to be open on Christmas Eve. We came from Sun City to a golf resort for the holidays. We are from the Pacific Northwest and are always looking for a decent seafood restaurant. Kingfisher really filled the bill. I had Steelhead and my wife had Scallops. Both were excellent and served cooked to perfection. We will definitely come again when in Tucson. However the road in front is a mess but under construction.
Your food is always excellent. We took my 97 year old mother-in-law on Xmas Eve and she loved everything including the architectural features of the restaurant. Now she does have dementia!
The waitstaff were all attentive and helpful. Kingfisher continues to be our favorite restaurant in Tucson.
Have never had a disappointing meal at Kingfishers. There is a variety of selections for every palate, but the seafood is always fresh and prepared with expertise and skill. I love the summer 'road trip menus' but also find great comfort in the winter 'old faithful' menu.
One of our very most favorite restaurants when only great fish will do. And when we want to un-buzz, talk and relax. Always fresh (or they’ll tell you it’s been frozen if you ask), and prepared deliciously so you can actually tell what fish you’re eating, in spite of the lovely and yummy preparations and sauces.
Oh yeah. Talented and careful bar too!
