Kingfisher Bar & Grill
Consistently one of the best restaurants in Tucson. Staff are attentive but not intrusive. Diverse menu that, in my opinion does not disappoint. I've been driving from Oro Valley to Kingfisher since the 90's knowing it will be well worth the drive.
Food was great- try the warm cabbage and the calamari. Better than we’ve had most places and unique, and delicious preparation. The whitefish was buttery and delicious, the service was excellent. We’ll definitely be back. Went to the top of our “must eat here” list for Tucson. We’re from the valley and have a couple favorite Tucson places. This is now one!
everyone in our group had fish this time and the Ahi was very good. It was served more how we make it instead of sliced like most restraunts but it was very good none the less. Always a stop when in Tucson
Waiter east attentive. Food always delicious!
One of our favorite restaurants.
Kingfisher has no pretensions beyond delicious food and lovely service. It's reliable and peaceful, like "coming home."
Excellent service. Our drinks arrived quickly. We really enjoyed the ceviche. Two of our party ordered bouillabaisse. It was delicious. The other member of our party ordered the clams. They were outstanding. As usual we ordered our deserts to go. The chocolate torte was absolutely decadent.
Our server, Eli was wonderful. The swordfish was very tasty and they made adjustments to suit my taste. My wife had the Hawaiian fish but she liked mine better.
Great locally owned and operated seafood house. Fresh oysters, other fish and seafood dominate the menu. Good wine list with some local Arizona wines on it. The Picpoul was perfect with the seasonal oysters and the Artic Char special.
We have loved going to the Kingfisher grill for a late lunch. The food has always been superb. However this evening, 6:45 pm, meal was just ok. We were at a table that had virtually no light to read the menu. The waiter suggested we use our phone’s light. I had specifically selected my meal for the charred Brussels sprouts but it came with string beans that didn’t seem to be cooked enough. The other guest in our party just said it was fine.
Our waiter absolutely did not care whether we liked our meal or not. My wife picked the special, and the potatoes on her plate were dry and stale. The fish was average as well. When i spoke with the waiter about my dissatisfaction with the meal he said nothing, picked up the plate and walked away. No apologies, nothing. IT WAS AWFUL, and this on my wife’s 50th birthday. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT. Save your money and go to Wildflower instead... that place was AMAZING.
Want to start the restaurant recon in Tucson, Kingfisher did not disappoint, excellent food, service & and an extensive wine & cocktail list, sitting in the bar was fun but a little loud, however a friendly crowd!
Best fish dishes
We must have patronized the Kingfisher Bar and Grill on an off night. Everything was great until I received my first course of New England clam chowder. I tasted it and it was literally so sour I asked the server if they had put lemon juice in their soup. It was horribly off, and I feared that I might become ill after tasting it. After 10 minutes or so, I was offered a ‘fresh’ cup of chowder which I refused. To be fair the rest of our meal was acceptable but the soup experience was off putting. To add insult to injury, the server failed to ensure that the soup was removed from my tab. The experience had me anxious to leave and I prayed I wouldn’t be ill from apparently not so fresh, soured chowder.
Very nice attentive service
We had five people in our party and all five dishes were delicious! Service was great, prompt anc courteous. The restaurant has a cool, vintage vibe. Loved the whole experience, we will be back!
Food was fantastic! The salmon belly special appetizer was great! Love this place!
Excellent service as always and excellent lunch menu with a variety of options. Their Oysters were exceptional and the special Ahi Tuna was wonderful. A definite go to place for seafood in Tucson
Terrific retro vibe for special occasions or a relaxing night out. The bartenders are on their game, with the biggest negative being the mild, nearly-flavorless macadamia nut coating on the Hawaiian fish.
Wonderful food and an excellent service. One of my favorite Tucson restaurants.
Great place to celebrate your birthday with friends and family. The oysters are amazing, I highly remind trying them.
Another fine meal at Kingfisher. Our thanks go to the chef, Meg, and all the waitstaff!
Excellent food and service as always. Mussels are worth a trip just for the sauce!
Always love going to Kingfisher! So miss their sister restaurant Bluefin...
i was disappointed in the cedar planked salmon. The Cinzano sauce seemed like it was just slapped on the top like BBQ. It would be much better if it was baked or grilled in. Fish didn't seem well grilled either. This is usally a pretty good dish.
One of my favorite places since it opened. . . . Still. Terrific food and service. The oysters I had were as good as the those I had last month on the CA coast.
Let me start by saying that the cocktails, food and service was great! But, the restaurant itself is outdated and rundown. If you are looking for a restaurant for a special occasion and you want to wear your Sunday best, you might want to choose some place else. There is no dress code. My husband and I were dressed up for a special evening out, only to be surrounded by people in t-shirts and cut-off denim shorts. My heart sank as we walked into the restaurant. For such a highly reviewed and decent priced restaurant, the ambiance is certainly lacking to say the least.
Our first time, the other couple had been before.
We were very pleased with the service and food!
Will be back.
All of the seafood dishes were outstanding...except 2. The calamari was a bit tough, and the fish and chips (hubby isn't a seafood eater but loves F&C. The fish was not flaky...but mushy. Of course...he sucked it up and didn't say anything until we got home. He described the fish as 'turds'. We're used to a nice fillet of flaky cod...it wasn't close. Bummer...
Went for the "Best of the Road Trip" menu for its fish selections. While the dishes were creative, we were disappointed as the halibut& walleye were overcooked and the vegetables on both dishes were merely put under the broiler and undercooked. Great bar and great service. Would go for drinks and something easier for them to prepare.
Our server, Pat was great. Knowledgeable, attentive but unobtrusive. The pastry chef Maryann briefly graced our table with stories of her desserts. She is a pleasure to engage in conversation. Chef and owner “Murph” offers a varied and creative menu. It can be difficult to choose only one from his multiple delicious entrees. Every employee at the restaurant does their job well. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We were very happy to see all aspects of our experience return to an outstanding level. Kudos to the entire staff!
Easily the best restaurant in Tucson absolutely worth the price everything is fantastic
It was my birthday and I had a choice, so glad we came to Kingfisher. The service, food, and drinks, cannot be beat any place. Maybe the best oysters I have ever had bar none.
Thank you for the nice review!
Food was cold the fish was overly seasoned and wasn’t very good tasted like a microwave dinner. I wouldn’t recommend or even return
We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your meal at Kingfisher. We take great care in trying to make sure every guest has a pleasurable dining experience. We would have gladly made you something else to your liking had we known. I can assure you, we do not use a microwave for any of our menu items. Thanks for the feedback.
As always, a great experience. Hostess knew of our request and we were seated right away. Food and service were very good. Both of us had the "Roadtrip" scallops w/Risotto and the were delicious.
The service was exceptional and the food was delicious.
End of Road trip roundup was very good. We had Ahi Tuna and Scallops both dishes were exceptional!
Prices were also not bad. We really love the Kingfisher...
Our experience was fabulous! Highly recommended! We will be back!
I took a friend there for his birthday. The staff wished him Happy Birthday and gave us very attentive service. The food is always great and the lemon refrigerator pie came with a candle on top.
We were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken quickly. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer. They were excellent. Two of us had the scallops which was one of that evenings special. They were perfectly prepared and were delicious. they other member of our group had the clams which were also delicious. Dipping the bread in the garlic clam broth was so good. Service was outstanding.
