Kingfish was the perfect place to get brunch. Classy vibe, but great prices!! Also, best mimosa I’ve ever had in my life. Great service, a must go!
The paella was very bland but the risotto was good.
Having visited Kingfish last year I was excited to take my work colleagues there, but it wasn’t what I’d hoped for. Previously I’d been for cocktails and brunch which was great, however dinner was a big let down. There was 6 of us and we ordered some boudin balls to share. 5 came out so we asked for one more and was told we couldn’t have one more. The rest of the food was simply ok. The seafood paella was clearly cooked in a different dish then served in the paella pan to look authentic and it was everything but. No crusty bottom, shrimps we’re seared, so no color and lacked depth of flavor. I’m doubting the suckling pig was a sucking pig and tasted more like pulled pork... I know the difference! Also the Crackling (crispy skin on pig) was soggy so a huge disappointment. The service was good but our server had some pretty offensive body odor and the back room they put larger groups in lacked the lively atmosphere of the adjacent bar. This place has all the tools to do a good job but the execution was very much lacking
Very nice restaurant to celebrate our 14th Anniversary. The Crawfish Gratin was one of the best appetizers that I've ever eaten, then the Shrimp and Grits were incredible. We would recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for good food and atmosphere.
Stopped in on a recent trip for Sunday dinner. Late for reservation by 15min but the host called cell to check on us and held the table. While a constant stream of folks going in, we did not feel rushed. The Shrimp and Grits, Kale Salad and Crackle were fantastic.
I've had the pleasure of dining here several times while visiting New Orleans over the years. This time I went for brunch and they had a piano player which was lovely. The brunch menu was delicious; though this time, some items could have been hotter in temperature and our server a bit more friendly but overall, I would highly recommend Kingfish!
Spinnish and crab omelettes were fantastic! Bottomless mimosas were awesome as they bring you the champagne and orange juice separately so you can make the mix as you please.
We were in New Orleans for my father-in-law’s 85th birthday. We decided to go to the Kingfish to have dinner with some New Orleans friends and relatives who’d come to New Olreans. The service at Kingfish was terrible - infrequent attention from our wait person and very slow food prep time. We complained about the long wait for food to our wait person who told us, “the food is cooked to order by a real chef”. Perhaps she thought we were used to eating at Luby’s or Popeyes. When the food finally arrived, we sent several dishes back. The gumbo was cold and tasted like the roux was burnt. And it wasn’t served with a spoon. The steaks were lukewarm, were served without steak knives and the French fries were cold and limp. The paella was under seasoned and the rice was dry. We weren’t billed for the dishes we sent back but missed what we came for: excellent food, service and ambience for a special meal with friends and family. Extremely disappointing and won’t return.
Great lunch experience to celebrate a birthday.
Drinks are expensive and food was very disappointing. Paella had small overcooked dried out mussels with half dozen small shrimps on a plain dried white rice bed that was hard cooked on a iron casket which was very salty. Bread was excellent.
Terrible experience with wait staff that was bumbling and Inexperienced, with attitude. After ordering and starting appetizers was told they were out of two out of four entrees. Then entrees came before we finished appetizers, and wouldn't hold them. Food was mediocre, staff had an attitude. Avoid the Kingfisher.
Unfortunately we had a poor experience at Kingfish. Our expectation was raised due to the higher spec web site and pricing. The experience did not match this. The menu was limited. The server did not know much about the (fish) dishes. The main fish was not available which limited the selection further. The food was not good - all dishes. The Chef had a brain freeze with his idea of serving the fish on a salt block, which over powered the fish, the salt block sat on a napkin, with the side dish put on the rest of the plate resting on the napkin and salt block! Where these salt blocks re-cycled for other customers? I never asked! The pull pork was wet and tasteless. Plates were removed with people still eating. Really sorry for writing a negative review.
I had the whole fish which was very good and would recommend it. My wife had the paella and it was average. I feel it is a better place to sit and eat/drink at the bar rather than a sit down.
Apptizers were good but both my girlfriends and I entrees were both subpar
I have food allergies and they are extremely accommodating.
Service was outstanding and two managers walked the room checking on guests which I truly respect.
Crab cake - order it. Beets - order them (mustard sauce dominates but you can order it without sauce).
The fried chicken was marginal, but the collard greens were as good as my mother-in-laws and that is sayin' something.
Happy hour menu is NOT served in the dining room. That's okay, but disappointing.
Great food and drinks. Brenda was a fantastic server
We went for a birthday celebration. Loved the craft cocktails. Place has a hip vibe.
Food was amazing . Fettuccine scallops was cooked perfect and had so much flavor. Would highly recommend
10/10 would recommend Kingsfish if you’re going to New Orleans. The food was amazing and great NOLA-Southern fare with $12 bottomless mimosas on the weekends. If you’re just in town for a weekend it’s a must visit!
After waiting 30 minutes to be seated and another 1:15 for the food to arrive, we were so hungry we would have eaten nearly anything. Unfortunately the food was so atrocious that out of 8 of us, the only edible meal was my son’s chicken fingers. If I could give 0 stars for food, I would.
We love Kingfish! We go to NOLA to see my son & daughter-in-law annually, this is our 3rd year now and Kingfish is our absolute favorite place to go. We missed it last year bc they were booked. So, we made our reservation this year several weeks in advanced. We weren't about to miss it!
We were seated up front and the doors were open, what a great view! We know now, we didn't order nearly enough boudin balls! We'll def order more next time! Everything we've had is delish! We didn't care for the loud group next to us, but we didn't let them keep us from enjoying Kingfish and each other. I tried a Pimm and it was sooooo goood! My daughter-in-law had a steak and she was in heaven!
I tell everyone I know going to NOLA you have to go to Kingfish! We'll be back in May this year and already plan to take more of my family!
Great local food and NOLA atmosphere.
Suckling pig is great!
Excellent culinary experience. Not a place for romantic dinners- but great otherwise.
Fantastic dinner and worked with my gluten free diet.
Great shrimp & grits, but crab claw appetizer looked more like crawfish claws. Special drinks were good and our server was great. Manager came by twice to chat. Nice atmosphere.
Boudin Balls are amazing !!
Great casual gastropub style. Service was really good. Food was great- jambalaya, alligator with grits, pig, and salmon tartar. Wine was also awesome-amazing wines, not expansive, but high quality.
Great service and the steak paired with Prisoner Cab was awesome. Very clean, well appointed location, lots of seating for all group sizes. We had a great server with Brenda for a last minute Valentine's Day. Business casual to formal dress. I'll go again for the steak and greens salad.
The problem was that the med/medium well steak came out raw. The soup also came out Luke warm and had to be sent back to heat it up. They took the steak back but the sides were left at the table and were cold by the time the steak returned. Given all the outstanding restaurants in the area I would not return or recommend based on the visit.
We ate during
I have eaten here two times before and loved it. However, the third time was a bad experience. It took 10 minutes for the waiter to even come to our table after we were seated. The waiter came and took our drink order. It took another 10 minutes for the waiter to take our food order, and I had to tell him we were ready to order. We ordered an appetizer and an entree. After 20 minutes we still haven't gotten any food. I asked the waiter what's taking so long, and he blamed the cook and then a computer glitch. We finally got our entree but we had never gotten our appetizer. Some lady who worked there came over to see how we were doing, and I told her we had to wait forever to get our food, and we had never gotten our appetizer. I told her to cancel that order, but she gave us our appetizers for free. I'm not sure I will return to this restaurant.
Good food, good prices. Happy hour is legit.
Amazing! On all levels. One of our fav places in nola
Mardi Gras. Drink sizes are too small for price.
unique menu. very tasty.
When we arrived we where early and seated at the bar. Bartender was knowledgeable and made our cocktails after inquiring about what we liked and what their specialties are. Waiter was knowledgeable, meal and service was excellent, Pianist was good.
Beet salad was beautifully composed and tasty. Generous portion for sharing. Pompano was prepared in the local style. Liked the experience. Handy location. Waiter knew we were sharing and did not bring plates until requested.
The crawfish and artichoke appetizer was delicious. I had the alligator grillades and grits. The gator was very tender and tasty, while the grits were a bit too thick and lumpy for my taste. Some folks like them that way, I prefer thinner (and lots of butter). My wife had duck breast and sweet potato Andoille hash, which was also excellent.
The waiter was prompt, courteous and provided excellent service. He said he was new so he did have to ask other staff about two questions we had, but that was fine.
Atmosphere was nice, relatively quiet. Even with music in the background, we could converse without raising our voices.
Overall, a very good first experience! I plan on returning and would like to check out Sunday brunch.
Great experience. Loved the food, service, the whole package!
The dinner atmosphere and service of Kingfish was the perfect ending to a busy, touristy, day in NOLA. We weren't sure what the dress code was, but we went in dark jeans/boots/nice top/necklace and khakis/button down and we fit right in. Our server was very attentive and gave us great recommendations.
Our experience at Kingfish was a little disappointing. The service wasn’t great ( we were constantly waiting for water or having to flag down the server for drinks) and while some of the food was great, other items were only ok.
