Great casual gastropub style. Service was really good. Food was great- jambalaya, alligator with grits, pig, and salmon tartar. Wine was also awesome-amazing wines, not expansive, but high quality.
The problem was that the med/medium well steak came out raw. The soup also came out Luke warm and had to be sent back to heat it up. They took the steak back but the sides were left at the table and were cold by the time the steak returned. Given all the outstanding restaurants in the area I would not return or recommend based on the visit.
I have eaten here two times before and loved it. However, the third time was a bad experience. It took 10 minutes for the waiter to even come to our table after we were seated. The waiter came and took our drink order. It took another 10 minutes for the waiter to take our food order, and I had to tell him we were ready to order. We ordered an appetizer and an entree. After 20 minutes we still haven't gotten any food. I asked the waiter what's taking so long, and he blamed the cook and then a computer glitch. We finally got our entree but we had never gotten our appetizer. Some lady who worked there came over to see how we were doing, and I told her we had to wait forever to get our food, and we had never gotten our appetizer. I told her to cancel that order, but she gave us our appetizers for free. I'm not sure I will return to this restaurant.
Good food, good prices. Happy hour is legit.
Amazing! On all levels. One of our fav places in nola
Mardi Gras. Drink sizes are too small for price.
unique menu. very tasty.
When we arrived we where early and seated at the bar. Bartender was knowledgeable and made our cocktails after inquiring about what we liked and what their specialties are. Waiter was knowledgeable, meal and service was excellent, Pianist was good.
Beet salad was beautifully composed and tasty. Generous portion for sharing. Pompano was prepared in the local style. Liked the experience. Handy location. Waiter knew we were sharing and did not bring plates until requested.
The crawfish and artichoke appetizer was delicious. I had the alligator grillades and grits. The gator was very tender and tasty, while the grits were a bit too thick and lumpy for my taste. Some folks like them that way, I prefer thinner (and lots of butter). My wife had duck breast and sweet potato Andoille hash, which was also excellent.
The waiter was prompt, courteous and provided excellent service. He said he was new so he did have to ask other staff about two questions we had, but that was fine.
Atmosphere was nice, relatively quiet. Even with music in the background, we could converse without raising our voices.
Overall, a very good first experience! I plan on returning and would like to check out Sunday brunch.
Great experience. Loved the food, service, the whole package!
The dinner atmosphere and service of Kingfish was the perfect ending to a busy, touristy, day in NOLA. We weren't sure what the dress code was, but we went in dark jeans/boots/nice top/necklace and khakis/button down and we fit right in. Our server was very attentive and gave us great recommendations.
Our experience at Kingfish was a little disappointing. The service wasn’t great ( we were constantly waiting for water or having to flag down the server for drinks) and while some of the food was great, other items were only ok.
Loved the scallops and pasta though my friend found them a little salty. Great service. Would certainly recommend it.
Great service with great food. The shrimp and grits were to die for!
We had the gumbo, and shrimp & grits. Food was tasty, but our waitress was inattentive.
Food was good but grits were not cooked all the way. Servers were great
It’s gone way downhill food was pretty bad, service slow.
Not sure what happened but it’s no longer a go to restaurant for me.
We really enjoyed our lunch. The food and drinks were both exceptional. Our waitress could have been a bit more attentive but overall we had a really good experience.
grits and greens are great and meet high standard. et cetera
