King + Duke
Our managing partner, Ford Fry, named the restaurant after two characters in Huckleberry Finn, “The King” and “The Duke," a pair of grifters who ‘put on airs’ and pretended to be royalty, when in fact they were a couple of hillbillies who lived in the woods. With our slightly mischievous ways ☺, a huge focus on quality, yet a primitive cooking style and down-to earth atmosphere, Chef Fry felt like it was the perfect name for our newest restaurant.
Get back to the way you once were!!!
The food was excellent. The service was great. Our waitress was friendly and experienced. She knew a lot about the restaurant and told us all about it. The look of the place was fun and upbeat. Will definitely be back.
King + Duke was so lovely and honestly perfect for date night. Our server, Sophie, was so kind and knowledgable on the menu and gave us amazing recommendations. Definitely want to go back and try their brunch menu!
Food was good (though one of the dishes was not very hot when served). Service was very slow. Took longer to get our drinks then to get our appetizers.
My server probably was over booked with tables but we definitely felt overlooked
They waited 2 hours to tell us that they ran out of our food. It was Mother’s Day and we had a two year old. It was completely unacceptable and unprofessional
Mother's Day dinner
We wish our experience had been better. We were there in the early afternoon on Mother's Day so we expected it to be busy, but it was actually only about two-thirds full. We ordered drinks and appetizers and got them right away (a giant cinnamon roll, which was good but would have been great hot) and warm donuts. The problem was with the entrees. We ordered basics off a simplified brunch menu....cheese omelette, French toast, french fries, bacon. The server put our order in at 2:19, but at 3:04 we still didn't have our meal. By that time, we needed to leave for the airport and had to ask for our items to be boxed. Again, we expected Mother's Day to be busy. But 45 minutes is a long time to wait for a meal. What we ate from the box in the car was pretty good, although only mildly warm, so we'd like to try again when they're on a regular menu and maybe running a more efficient kitchen. The servers were apologetic, kind and informative.....we were all on the same team wanting a great experience.
Food was amazing. The service was great. Drinks was great too.
Great spot for Mother’s day brunch. Only problem was my sister hated the strawberry yogurt item. Once she requested honey she could eat more of it but she still only ate half. I suggest serving it with a small amount of honey for those who expect the yogurt to be sweet.
He was a dick
We went for Mother’s Day Brunch and it was the perfect ambiance. The noise level was great for my grandmother and we had a wonderful server!
We went on a busy Sunday morning for brunch. The service suffered because of it. I would not recommend. We were also seated a good 30 minutes after reservation time. Very frustrating.
Went for brunch. Everything was great except for the steak and eggs, specifically the steak. The flavor profile they were going for was either a failure in design or execution. Also, some of the what seemed to be intentionally ‘charred’ sections of the meat were more burnt that I would have liked. I came in really excited about this meal and my first K&D brunch but left feeling ‘meh’. I’ll come back given other experiences I’ve had here but will steer well clear of this dish.
Excellent food and drink. Our sever was knowledgeable and engaging.
Had a great time as always! Took my Mom in for an early Mother’s Day celebration and could not have been more pleased. Our server Catena was awesome, exceptionally known and kind. Ryan, the manager, stopped by our table and made sure that our experience was everything we wanted it to be and more. Definitely would recommend this place to everyone!!!!
Overall, this just wasn't what we would expect out of a fine dining restaurant. We ordered the muscles to share and had to send them back because they were simply tasteless. They were beautiful, but neither my husband nor I could eat them and when our server noticed we weren't eating them we just couldn't lie. (We've never once sent anything back so they were really that bad.) The staff was very nice and did bring us an order of shrimp instead- which were pretty good. I ordered the Scallops as my entree- they had more taste but were incredibly salty to the point that I just couldn't finish them. My husband ordered the short ribs, which were excellent. However, for a dinner that was $200 (including drinks) we just expected better.
Also, despite the fact that there were plenty of open tables, they seated everyone right next to each other (like 20 inches away) so that we were basically having dinner with the people next to us. Not a huge deal but also not what we had in mind for celebrating our anniversary.
Entrees and most appetizers at K with apps and drinks.
The small plates are they way to go. I had the Pork Porterhouse for an entree and it was just mediocre and a little tough but the sauce was good. The other people at the table had the halibut and really enjoyed it. The Chocolate Ice Cream cake is worth the calories.
We celebrated our daughter’s Masters Degree today with lunch at The King and Duke. Outstanding! From the moment we arrived to our server - Brandon - a wonderful experience. The menu is not extensive but left us more than satisfied based on appetizers (the Popovers and Oysters were great) and sandwiches. “The Duke” lives up to its name - a great burger. We topped it off with desert and I think we are set until tomorrow’s breakfast! Great staff; special credit to Brandon our server; and an overall “10” like experience today. You made our daughter’s and our Masters Degree Celebration most memorable!
A MUST when in Buckhead
All the food is very “heavy”. Lots of fat and oil in EVERYTHING.
Wonderful. From the time we were greeted, throughout the meal, and upon departure, the service was tremendous. Food was fabulous and surprisingly unique. Loved it!
Service was great. Nice place, easy parking (for Buckhead), my food was delicious (scallops). One problem however... my guest has mussels and one of them was bad. He spent the rest of the night indisposed. Our server immediately noticed there was a problem and wanted to rectify it. My guest said no need to but the server brought out a fresh bowl of mussels anyway. So the sever handled it perfectly.
King & Duke was highly recommended by family - it exceeded our expectations. Spencer was especially helpful and attentive. Thank you!
Took my husband for brunch. He LOVED everything about the establishment. Our waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed because of the amount of people he had to service, but the manager stepped in and served us so it was great! Definitely cannot wait to return. The food is portions for the entire table. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.
Fantastic dinner. Food was creative and tasty. Service was efficient and unobtrusive. We had a great time.
K+D atmosphere is lovely. Calm, dim and perfect for a date night. Service was great! The food was a B+, in our table’s opinion. My scallops were delicious however, the sides were a disappointment. They lacked variety and not cooked through. The wine selection was impressive but seemed a little extra expensive. I would recommend K+D but would try all new things.
My wife and I have loved king and duke for a long time but alas we have to face the truth. The system here is messed up. You can tell the wait staff is doing their best but the drinks/wine are consistently very slow arriving, the food is late too and not up to its previous standards and you can just sense that the place is NOT what it used to be.
Very sad that our neighborhood go to great weather place leaves us frustrated and disappointed.
Food was excellent! Service needs to be improved. They need to pace in bringing food out as they brought almost everything close together where I felt rushed I need to dine and dash.
Festive environment in the heart of Buckhead! Unique menu!
As always, we were not disappointed at any level with our visit to King and Duke. No matter where I live, I’m always up for a trip for any meal. Everything is phenomenal from the food to the service. The sticky toffee pudding is out of this world!!
Service was outstanding!!! Craft cocktails were fabulous! The food was perfection!
We had a very poor experience I have been here many times service was slow and our waitress was just ok !
Great menu, awesome dining room. Wait staff had an off night but were gracious about it and took care of stuff on the bill to make up for it. One of my favorite Atlanta go-to spots
Definitely choose King + Duke. Ask to be seated in Brian’s section. You will be pampered
Great service and food
Love coming here
We went for Easter brunch. It was reservation only, so it wasn’t packed. The servers were very friendly and professional, but there was an over a hour between our apps and our entree. The server came over a few times that the kitchen. Was b
My girlfriend and I attended Easter brunch and greatly enjoyed the food and service. The chef was very kind and served us a gratis softshell crab appetizer which had recently been removed from the brunch menu. Kudos to our terrific server Catina who mentioned to the chef that we were interested in the dish. Catina also asked the bar to make us a custom cocktail which was delicious. We will definitely return for more wonderful food, drink and service.
