About King + Duke
At King and Duke, we showcase locally sourced ingredients through simple, yet focused hearth cooking. Our goal is not to manipulate food, but to accentuate the natural flavors of our products through slower methods of cooking and the smoke of the wood fire. Through this primitive technique, constantly moving and manipulating the live fire, we invest exacting attention to the preparation of each and every dish.
Our managing partner, Ford Fry, named the restaurant after two characters in Huckleberry Finn, “The King” and “The Duke," a pair of grifters who ‘put on airs’ and pretended to be royalty, when in fact they were a couple of hillbillies who lived in the woods. With our slightly mischievous ways ☺, a huge focus on quality, yet a primitive cooking style and down-to earth atmosphere, Chef Fry felt like it was the perfect name for our newest restaurant.

I've called ahead on several occasions to ask K+D to provide a special experience for visitors from Northern California/Napa who were in Atlanta for their first time. K+D went above and beyond to bring the best of Atlanta hospitality and sophisticated cuisine. I was proud and my visitors were impressed.
The food and service were excellent. One in the party is vegan, and when she asked the server about options she said the chef could prepare a special vegan dish. Wow - that was fantastic. Everyone absolutely loved the food and ambiance. The server was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We had a great experience at King + Duke and will be back. Only complaint is the parking! Valet was all backed up so we self-parked - for $14. Seemed steep.
Went for brunch. Donuts to start were sweet, salty, hearty, and fatty....so pretty much perfect. Lobster omelette was very solid, but the star is the burger. Just very tasty. The fries were good, but I like them just a little more crispy. But the food must have been top notch since we booked the chefs table with friends for next week. Ambiance is very nice, and the place is energetic. And our server was very nice and attentive.
We were celebrating my husbands 30th birthday and our first night as new parents away from our baby for a special night out. From the second we got there in the reservation I had asked for a table inside or booth they tried to sit us on patio then tried to sit us a counter where the heat lamps were so hot. Service was absolutely horrible she got my husbands drink(a jack on the rocks) wrong 3 times. I’m an ex bartender and that was impressive. The food was sub par and they never coursed us or gave us share plates (we had 5 appetizers) and table was never maintained. Very disappointing as we don’t get to get out as often as we would like since we have a baby and it was such a special occasion. Wish it was a better experience
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner and we had a lovely time. From the moment we walked in to the time we left. Brian attended to us and he was great. He had awesome suggestions and checked on us often (but, not too much). The food was delicious, the drinks were good and the overall experience was great. We will be back.
This was the second time we had been to K&D. We really enjoy it; it's easy and always has great service and food. We typically just get lots of starters rather than big entrees (that way it gives us so many choices). Tonight was no different! Of course we had two of their specialty cocktails, fantastic and fun! Then we had the delicious Kale salad and I would say this was probably the best I have ever had. The small pieces of nuts and the slices of radishes really added to the delicious flavor. We then moved on to the beef tar-tare and this was one of the bests I have ever had; the thin crusts it was placed on and the sauce to accompany it was by far outstanding. We then had the onion soup that was very good but wished it would have come out with the salad. Next we had the octopus and this was excellent as well. Seasoned lovely and was a nice way to finish our dinner. We will definitely be back.
Overall experience was thoroughly enjoyed. There was simply no 'WOW' factor with the cuisine - the look and presentation of the food was stunning. I would return for special occasion gatherings as the atmosphere is great for group settings and/or outside entertaining. The restaurant was beautiful and service was awesome!
Even though I drove by this place for years, we never ate there, until the other night. The outdoor patio was, in a word, awesome. Just the right amount of noise and people, but not too crowded or loud like some Buckhead spots. The food menu was interesting and above average, good enough that we would definitely come back here.
Guess I am old school but waiting 30 minutes for your reservation and then getting shuttled to A table by the service area that was twice as big as our party isn't cool. No apologies, no can I make this right. Clear this service as usual. Food was good but not that good.
Best dinner ever. I can't say enough about this place. It was like Disneyworld of the restaurant scene. Greeted right away, every staff member was friendly and accommodating.
Nadia was our A++++ server. Her advice on choices and service was second to none.
The food was out of this world. We tried a lot of dishes and the chef sent us 3 of them for free to help add to the celebration of a birthday in our group.
Each dish was unique and amazing in its own right. Even the bread was like a Brazilian cheese bread on crack. So good.
We ordered the King Ribeye. It did come out over cooked. As soon as we told Nadia, she said no problem and along with the manager, they brought out TWO new steaks without hesitation. Not only did they give us these two fresh 13oz prime NYs on the house - they also dropped the $108 ribeye off of our bill without even mentioning it. Needless to say, the customer service is what you'd expect from a high end restaurant and then they go way beyond that still.
Desserts were stupid good. Sticky toffee pudding was literally the best dessert I've ever had. Wow.
Can't say enough about this place. 5 stars on every facet possible. What an experience.
Really enjoy the food here. I had the appetizershrimp & roasted chicken tonight and it was very delicious. Tasty and Juicy and I liked the ajou that accompanies it alot. Also ordered the mushrooms very good and spicy! Great portion sizes. We enjoy the special attention the manager Ryan dotes on us. And overall the staff here is very pleasant and amimicable. I need to visit one day for lunch and just to have dessert. Can't wait!!
Did NOT disappoint! They gave us complimentary prosecco to celebrate our anniversary and to kick off our dining experience. Cocktails were amazing -- loved the taste of fall with Cinderella's Carriage. The appetizers were all phenomenal but highly recommend the hushpuppies and wagyu tartare. I went with the tile fish for my entree and it was amazing. The portion size was perfect. We rounded off our meal with the cherry turnovers and bourbon ice cream, as suggested by our server. It was so simple and delicious. The staff signed a card honoring our evening and the manager was gracious and kind, spending about 10 minutes talking with us. The grilled food just cannot be beat and the kitchen watching was stellar! I'll be back. Congrats Ford Fry on another stellar eatery. xo
