About King + Duke
At King and Duke, we showcase locally sourced ingredients through simple, yet focused hearth cooking. Our goal is not to manipulate food, but to accentuate the natural flavors of our products through slower methods of cooking and the smoke of the wood fire. Through this primitive technique, constantly moving and manipulating the live fire, we invest exacting attention to the preparation of each and every dish.
Our managing partner, Ford Fry, named the restaurant after two characters in Huckleberry Finn, “The King” and “The Duke," a pair of grifters who ‘put on airs’ and pretended to be royalty, when in fact they were a couple of hillbillies who lived in the woods. With our slightly mischievous ways ☺, a huge focus on quality, yet a primitive cooking style and down-to earth atmosphere, Chef Fry felt like it was the perfect name for our newest restaurant.

King + Duke Ratings and Reviews
The general manager Ryan, made us feel at home. Patrick, our server was very attentive and suggested all the items we ate, and they were as delicious as Patrick described them! We had such a terrific evening with a great staff and food was fantastic. Run don’t walk!
Our evening at King & Duke was superb! Since we were staying at the St. Regis for our anniversary weekend getaway it made perfect sense to dine at this amazing restaurant. From the moment we were seated our experience was top notch - special "Happy Anniversary" menus; our server, Corbin, remembering it was our 8th anniversary; complimentary champagne. The food was incredible from beginning to end and the service was even better. I couldn't recommend King & Duke any more than I already have. Thank you for making our anniversary that much more special!!
We went here because many people recommended it. However the service could not have been slower. Two of us ordered duck and they came out 25 minutes later to let us know they were out of duck. We then waited very long to receive our entrees. The food was great but not sure if it was worth the 2 hour wait for our entrees.
First time at King & Duke & really enjoyed it. More casual than I expected. Fabulous service from an older gentleman who wanted to accommodate any food allergy sensitivities in our group (had 2 people). Very good food & fun atmosphere. Will definitely go back!
The restaurant was extremely loud. Mybhusbamd and I could barely hear each other and didn't want to talk much louder because we were sitting so close to the other tables on either side of us and they would be able to hear our entire conversation. Everything we ordered was delicious. We got the bone broth and onion soup appetizers and for dinner we ordered the wreckfish and chicken. Everything cooked perfectly and amazing. Our biggest complaint was that our server knew we were going to a show at 8pm and my husband asked a 2nd time about our food and it finally came out at 7:50. We waited over an hour from ordering to get our meal. We didn't get to enjoy it because we were so rushed to get to the show in time.
First time being here and it was exceptional! Decor is amazing, as was the level of detail. We arrived a bit early for our 6:30 reso, but were seated immediately as it was not too busy. Our server was very knowledgeable about the restaurant’s origins and pretty much everything else. Drinks were outstanding and not only were they thirst quenching but the literary themes behind their names were genius. Starting with the Georgia Shrimp was a great idea, those shrimps were bomb! Shared the NC Trout, lemme tell ya it was marvelous. The skin was super crispy and the charred grape chimichurri was ridiculous. Went with a side of puréed potatoes, simple but so delicious. Finished the meal with not one but two of their desserts! Sticky Toffee Pudding was bliss, for real, it stole the show! Business started picking up when we were leaving around 8:30, which was bittersweet as it would have been nice to be around the hustle and bustle but nevertheless had a superior dining experience. (Also shoutout to our waitress, we totally forgot her name but she was the bees knees 🐝 keep doing you boo boo!)
Came in for dinner recently. Awesome experience and would highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice place to dine. They're very focused on their slow cooking methods and you can tell. I'm not a fan of ordering salads when going out to eat, but I LOVE their Waldorf salad. I had their wood grilled octopus and good breed chicken. My only criticism is that their sweet potatoes from the sides list were too sweet, like a dessert. It wasn't a very pleasant surprise. Otherwise, I do plan on visiting again soon!
Tried this place out for my friend’s birthday. Had asked the hostess to put in a request for a dessert with candle at the end as a surprise. She said she would and then didn’t. The waitress said the burger would have a sliver of pink, it was mostly uncooked inside and burnt outside. Half of the lasagna was burnt. Waitress seemed a bit scatterbrained and kept messing drinks up and then the check. Overall, very disappointing
My friend and I had shrimp toast and kale salad for appetizers. Salad had no dressing at all and shrimp toast was soggy in the sauce that was poured into the plate.
we also had burgers, which we ordered medium +, they were burnt on top and super raw in the middle. Drinks were good but food wasn’t!
I've called ahead on several occasions to ask K+D to provide a special experience for visitors from Northern California/Napa who were in Atlanta for their first time. K+D went above and beyond to bring the best of Atlanta hospitality and sophisticated cuisine. I was proud and my visitors were impressed.
The food and service were excellent. One in the party is vegan, and when she asked the server about options she said the chef could prepare a special vegan dish. Wow - that was fantastic. Everyone absolutely loved the food and ambiance. The server was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We had a great experience at King + Duke and will be back. Only complaint is the parking! Valet was all backed up so we self-parked - for $14. Seemed steep.
