At King and Duke, we showcase locally sourced ingredients through simple, yet focused hearth cooking. Our goal is not to manipulate food, but to accentuate the natural flavors of our products through slower methods of cooking and the smoke of the wood fire. Through this primitive technique, constantly moving and manipulating the live fire, we invest exacting attention to the preparation of each and every dish.

Our managing partner, Ford Fry, named the restaurant after two characters in Huckleberry Finn, “The King” and “The Duke," a pair of grifters who ‘put on airs’ and pretended to be royalty, when in fact they were a couple of hillbillies who lived in the woods. With our slightly mischievous ways ☺, a huge focus on quality, yet a primitive cooking style and down-to earth atmosphere, Chef Fry felt like it was the perfect name for our newest restaurant.

We arrived a little late for our reservation but were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Brittany was friendly and told us about highlights on the menu. We love eating at all of Ford Fry’s restaurants!

Great Friday evening dining on the patio. Johnathan, our server was pretty cool. The heirloom tomato salad was simply, tastefully delicious...that required additional popovers to sop up the buttermilk dressing.

The food wasn't on par with our previous visits. We're not sure if there's a new chef, but the food was bad. The service was as usual though. Savannah is awesome.

If you go you have to get the sticky toffee pudding it is absolutely ridiculous.

Great ambiance. Great wine selection. Absolutely love their bread (and I'm not one to partake of bread pre-meal). But, all of the dishes were .... well .... off! The fried okra and shrimp appetizers lacked something. An appropriate dipping sauce may have helped. Very odd use of parsley for the fried okra and the grilled trout. And for dessert: whole black peppercorns on top of the ice cream and (dry) tart made absolutely no sense. The chef's creativity was misguided.

The amazing smell of hickory cooking over a visible open flame truly sets the ambiance upon entering. The cocktails are amazing. We had the deviled eggs with the prosciutto on top (amazing). We had the trout, which was seasoned to perfection, and chicken, which was quite delectable as well with the collard greens as a side. They had a great smoky flavor to them. The Patio had a really nice vibe with the Buckhead aura In the background. I appreciated being greeted while entering and “thanked” by several staff members while exiting. This restaurant is solid!

It's hard to put in words exactly how much I love this restaurant. The service is impeccable, in the food , which is all cooked over an open fire, is absolutely outstanding. During our last visit we had "The King", a 40 oz Tomahawk Steak, served with the Szechuan fried okra and roasted bone marrow. Everything was perfectly cooked and the staff made us feel wonderful on our anniversary. There is a reason that this is my favorite restaurant in Atlanta, it never disappoints.

Great outdoor seating and delicious burgers! Only thing that would have been nice would be some fans to fight the Atlanta heat. But a definite gem in Buckhead!

Decided to try something new...Since we had to give up our girls’ night dinner at Houston’s on Lenox Road😑...
Loved the atmosphere, customer service was exceptional, wine list superb, the chicken dish was amazing and Jeremiah the valet, who braved monsoon rain to walk us from my car to the restaurant’s door...was our MVP!

We've been coming to King+Duke for a few years now for birthdays and entertaining. I liked bringing visitors to try the impressive specialty of the house, "The King" hand-cut ribeye steak. It's pricey, but has always been worth it. Until now.

"The King" has always been so large that it could easily feed two people, and maybe even have some left. The waiter informed us that they had changed the King to a Tomahawk cut, and that it is even bigger than before - advertised at 40 ounces! I know the tomahawk cut, and know the huge bone included can easily weigh a couple of pounds. I asked if the advertised 40 ounces included the bone, and the waiter confirmed that we would get 40 ounces, net of the bone! Wow! Even at the new $109.00 price, that's a lot of high-end steak for the money. I decided to go ahead with the order and let the kids share it, confident that I would be able to steal some myself.

Nope. The steak came and there was probably 16 - 18 ounces of ribeye beautifully pre-cut along with a Fred-Flintstone-sized bone. I did not raise a fuss, but I explained to the waiter that I know what 40 ounces of steak would look like, and that he should go back and re-confirm with the chef. He returned to apologize that he had made an error, and that the 40 ounces advertised actually does include the monstrous bone. Whoopsy.

The steak tasted FANTASTIC, but I cannot justify $109.00 for 18 ounces of steak and a big bone. I didn't ask for it, but the manager comped $60.00 worth of drinks and food to compensate. Nice, but this is not what I came for.

"The King" is dead at King+Duke. Fortunately, Little Ally Steakhouse has opened up a new location in Buckhead. They have a killer prime tomahawk ribeye that was $85.00 last time I tried it.

I won't be back to King+Duke since they no longer have anything unique for me there. Atlanta has a lot of great choices. They really have a great burger though. But again, Atlanta has lots of those.

Overall, the experience was good, but I probably won’t be back any time soon. The service was good but not great. Main complaint is the server would disappear for rather long stretches, such as when we were ready to order wine before the entrees arrived. By the time our entrees were delivered, we thought we’d already ordered the wine (we were talking and got distracted), but then realized we hadn’t. Then had to wait for her to show up to check on us and wait more for the wine to arrive.

The swordfish was over cooked, but the grouper was fabulous. The grouper could have been better balanced with seasonings—the mushrooms were an odd pairing for a delicate fish and with the right seasoning it would have worked better. It seemed mismatched.

Great atmosphere and overall service was good, our server just missed the mark a few times.

It was our first time at this resturant and it eceeded all of our expectations. I would recommend this resturant to anyone who loves food and a great staff. Our server was exceptional . She came to the table quickly and let us know about some menu items that are really popular and we took her recommendation , she knew alot about the food and wine list which showed that she loves her job and the place she works at. It was a rainy night so we sat inside but next time we will have to sit outside it had a covered area and it was lit perfectly for a romantic or just a fun outdoor space. The flowers and trees really made the area very cozy.

We decided to dine at King + Duke to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The service was impeccable and so was the food. We couldn't decide between the lamb, swordfish or trout. So, we decided to order all three and share our meals. All three food selections were delicious. Everyone in my party left King + Duke feeling full and satisfied. I Will definitely dine with this establishment again in the near future!

Wonderful drinks, service and food. The waiter suggested the duck and I was not disappointed at all. He paired it with a Syrah that was fantastic . Favorite meal I’ve had in a while. Don’t forget about the pimento cheese hush puppies!!!

Note- this was the first restaurant I’ve ever been in where the waiter came and wedged the table so it would stop wobbling. Very impressive.
