King + Duke
Our managing partner, Ford Fry, named the restaurant after two characters in Huckleberry Finn, “The King” and “The Duke," a pair of grifters who ‘put on airs’ and pretended to be royalty, when in fact they were a couple of hillbillies who lived in the woods. With our slightly mischievous ways ☺, a huge focus on quality, yet a primitive cooking style and down-to earth atmosphere, Chef Fry felt like it was the perfect name for our newest restaurant.

State of the art food from appetizers to ersrt, time and time again. I must go to place for me everytime I am in Atlanta.
Not a fan at all of the new menu. If they stick with this change we may not go back. Very disappointing as this was one of our favorite places.
Hands down this is my favorite restaurant to go to with my husband. It's our favorite 'special date night' restaurant and it's becoming our favorite place to go to for celebrating big accomplishments. It's also our favorite place to take family and friends who visit from out of town when we want to show them what we love about Atlanta. Whether we want brunch, a 'fancy burger,' or one of the amazing entrees on the menu, we know we will never be disappointed.
I live in DFW but this is my second time here within the year. I went with college daughter and friends from Virginia after the SEC Championship. Very cool spot with original food. I will be back many times in the future.
--- Overall: Lackluster. We were greeted by our server it was brought to our attention that they have since changed their menu to a "tapas style" menu. Now, I may be alone on this one, but this is a pretty substantial detail for a prospective customer that should've been displayed. I reviewed their website a couple of days before our reservation and nothing was mentioned of this so that was a surprise. Not a big deal, but still something that the customer should be aware of before dining at a restaurant. I'm no restaurateur or anything, but their menu didn't come across as tapas (shareable) dishes. They were more just like scaled down version of entrees.
--- Service: At one point my Dad had four beers in front of him due to four different people bringing him a beer. I don't even know how this is possible, but was very strange and came across as disorganized. Our server didn't seem to interested or knowledgeable of the menu when trying to review some of the menu items as well which was a bit frustrating after finding out it's a tapas-style menu.
--- Food: I did enjoy my dish which was the beef short ribs. However, I don't recall what the other two entrees that were ordered were so take that for what it is. We ordered three sides for everyone to share. One was some derivative of a vegetable medley, which unbeknownst to us, was a dish served chilled. Again, I may be alone on this, but another detail that should've been brought to our attention when ordering. Another side didn't come out until everyone was pretty much finished with their entrees. No clue what was going on there.
--- I don't typically write negative reviews, but this was just a very odd dining experience. We were in from out of town and were looking for an enjoyable, local Atlanta experience. We unfortunately didn't walk away with that.
The menu has had radical changes and in my opinion has got too much out there; truly a pity
King and Duke was overall pretty great. The food was phenomenal and the service was awesome. I am going to start with what we loved but I also have a couple of suggestions for improvement. We went to celebrate 4 birthdays in our family and each person with a birthday was given a King and Duke card with birthday wishes from the staff on them, along with each person in our party receiving a complimentary glass of champagne. The food was authentic and very good, a little on the pricy side for my liking but some would say it is worth it! I do have a couple of suggestions on how they could improve however, the food is served family style which was not the problem whatsoever, that actually was something unique about the restaurant and made the dining experience more fun considering you could have a taste of everything. The issue I had was that the food is served as it is prepared, and wouldn’t have been a problem if each dish wasn’t coming out about a minute apart from each other. We felt the food should have been staggered a bit more so we could enjoy each dish more without feeling rushed or worrying about our dishes getting cold. My other complaint was that we purchased a whole lobster (two lobster tails with claws) and were told by a staff member that the claws were the best part, but the restaurant had no claw crackers to crack the claws open, which was very strange and also a little frustrating when you pay 50 for a lobster. Overall a great experience though! Great for birthdays and we will definitely be back!
We had to ask for water, tea and wine refills up to three times before we were attended to. For this price point the service was average at best.
The table we were given was in a high traffic area when I asked specifically to avoid this sort of issue. My chair was repeated hit by passing traffic during my meal.
The food was very tasty and I enjoyed flavor but the portions were all to small for the expense.
This restaurant is nice but not worth a second visit.
We love King and Duke! They just changed up their entire menu, and I’ll be honest, I miss this old one. But it was still good nevertheless so we’ll be back.
Sat right in front of the kitchen bar so we had a wonderful floor show with all the great wood fire smells and bustle of service. Nicole, our server was superb. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and she never smacked my deaf brother in law for making her repeat everything over and over. We ate EVERYTHING and it was delicious from pop overs to sticky toffee pudding.
Really incredible experience at King + Duke Thursday night. Had a date night and we had the pleasure of having Leticia as our server. Highly knowledgeable about the menu and beverages. Was incredibly kind to us the whole meal. Thanks for a wonderful time! Get the scallops!!
New menu, now focused on shared plates.
I received food not cooked to the temperature requested which wasn’t a huge deal but it took FOREVER to get my food back...everyone else was done eating. The waitress, although friendly and with a desire to please, continually interrupted the table’s conversation often asking if we were enjoying something before we even had a chance to distribute the food to individual plates. With the shared plates style menu, that happened often!
I’ve been to King and Duke before and loved it. I went back because I loved the food - which had all changed. Also as someone who eats out often, usually in groups of 6+, sometimes you just want to order what you want to eat without having to find common ground with your table! I specifically picked King and Duke because (formally) it was NOT a menu designed for sharing so I was quite disappointed. The bill was also much higher with this new format...probably the reason for the change.
My husband is immune- compromised, and the host set us up in a low traffic area. Very nice , thanks
Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! I'd heard great things about this restaurant so I was excited to try it out. Making (and changing) our reservation was easy on OpenTable. I even received a phone call from the restaurant to confirm the special occasion. Nice touch. Valet parking in located in the back as well as self parking.
The ambiance was so original. Very comfortable and cozy. Very stylish and distinguished. Quite gentlemanly. My favorite thing was the library with the ladder at the entrance. I honestly have nothing but good things to say about the food. Well seasoned. Great flavor. Delicious.
Appetizers: Lamb Ribs, Grilled Georgia Shrimp.
Entrees: Hearth Roasted Duck, Whole Roasted Branzino.
Sides: Smoky Greens, Shitake Mushrooms.
And the dessert! Pecan Cheesecake, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Pear Reisling Sorbet... Omg!! That toffee pudding was one of the best desserts I've EVER had!!
To top it all off, we received excellent service! Kiara was the best! We are definitely going back. Thank you for an amazing meal!
Excellent service + food! We will definitely be back.
King and Duke never disappoints. The staff and food are outstanding.
Amazing service and great food. We’ll definitlay add this to our date night rotation.
Small portions and very overpriced. No interest in going back. Presentation was pretty, but if I want to see art, l will go to the museum.
Excellent service and delicious food. A favourite in Atlanta.
Restaurant wasn’t busy at all, not even half full. First time I’ve ever had such slow service to refill/replace drinks, by the time they brought drinks the meal was over. Typically the service is phenomenal, so this must have been an understaffed day.
Fourth time at K+D and the experience was perfect except for the slightly one-off comment from my waiter after I inquired on the name of the song or possibly the system for the music (b/c I loved the vibe, and music -mix well done!). He was quick to snark "maybe Spotify" giving off the why ask?!. But I didn't let that damper a great evening. Having entertained both business and friends, it is a hit every time.
Food was excellent. Prepared with different flavorings. Truly a wonderful experience. Nice for date night, celebrations or just time for the two of you. The wines were extraordinary.
So delicious! We had the scallops, duck, and housemade vegetarians lasanga.
My favorite restaurant in Atlanta, never disappoints. The drinks are great and the wine menu has everything you could ask for. Everything on the menu is delicious. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Bottom line, you will always leave K + D satisfied.
Excellent service! Staff was so polite, inviting and informative. Atmosphere was buzzing and lively. Great experience!
The tables are a bit crowded together. We ordered the King (40oz steak) and it took 35 minutes to get to the table.
Fantastic food and service. We had planned for a full dinner but the traffic was worse than expected so we were late to our reservation and only had 45 minutes until we needed to be at the Buckhead Theatre down the street. Our waitress Brittney was awesome and accommodating. We had 4 appetizers and 2 drinks and had our check and paid and still had time to spare. She really accommodated us to get us in and out and still have a a great experience!
We recently celebrated my birthday at King + Duke. It was amazing from start to finish. We requested a table by the window...accomplished. A very nice touch was a birthday card signed by employees! A celebratory glass of prosecco was given to memebers of our party. Nice! I love prosecco. I LOVE K&D popovers and ate so many I offered to pay for them! They would not charge me and trust me, I ate many. Shout out to our server, LaMont! He is the BEST!
Great food very knowledgeable staff great service but a Great food very knowledgeable staff rate service but add soup !
King & Duke was a fantastic find. The food was terrific top to bottom, from the pre-dinner rolls and kale salad, to sturgeon and chicken meals to the pecan pie cheesecake dessert. The service was also wonderful, as Brian was very knowledgeable and friendly. I have nothing but great things to say about King & Duke
Every single thing on the menu was AMAZING! My boyfriend went back the next night because it was that good!
Overall great food and experience. Have dined at King & Duke a multitude of times and they never fail to amaze.
This was our second visit to this restaurant. We ordered one beer each and an onion soup. I had the shrimp which was an appetizer as my entree and my husband had the scallop entree. Even though I was told that the grilled shrimp was shelled, I kept biting into pieces of shell. I was shocked when my husband's $30 entree arrived with a meager 3 scallops. The most disappointing thing was that the attempt to caramelize the scallops resulted in an overly salty dish. It was definitely not worth the $100 price tag. Also, the tables were so close together, it was impossible to have any privacy during the meal. Sorry, two thumbs down on this restaurant.
Great place for a date! Relaxed ambient specially a bit latter, the bread basket is a must!
Everything everyone ate was delicious!
Everything was perfect! Thank you.
Food too salty and a lot of oil
Impeccable service and amazing food - no issues at all for our large group. Birthday cards from the restaurant were a lovely touch.
The trout is absolutely divine! I get it every time I visit. It pairs well with the southern greens and the roasted carrots. I love everything about this place!
Great experience! Surprised us with 2 free glasses of Prosecco to celebrate our anniversary!
