Kindee Thai Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I like kindee Thai - typically eat here before Guthrie plays. Often the restaurant is busy, but this time it was quiet - so I was able to notice lots of wall areas where the paint is scraped off (from chairs, looks like). Makes the restaurant look like it needs some attention.
Overall it was good. Or just ok. Here's the run down:
Kitchen was fast
Sevice was good
Food was good but not as flavorful as I hoped
Tables are Extremely close together
Very cold, despite being packed in like sardines
Food lacked depth
Perhaps lunch time would be a better experience. We'll go back to the other Thai restaurant nearby next time.
We reserved a table at this restaurant to get a quick bite before a play at the Guthrie. Service was a bit slow to order, but was served fairly quickly. Food was good; some items were quite awesome like the soups. Pad Tai lacked ingredients we normally enjoy in pad tai, also was a little sweet. Was very chilly in the room; could have used more heat! We had plenty of time for a leisurely meal before the play.
This was my first time at Kindee. I loved the variety of vegetarian options. Many to choose from. So many restaurants have one or two boring options. Kindee has lots of choices. I like that some of the meals were stand alone, and then you add your protein. Our server was very attentive and very friendly. We will be back with friends!
We love Thai food. That said we found the food had nicely integrated flavors-and portion sizes were reasonable. Our waiter gave good suggestions except we thought the spice was quite mild. A “two pepper” indication left me looking for more heat, but then we like Thai food. Next time I will try Thai hot and see what happens.
We went to the restaurant prior to going to the Guthrie. The location is very convenient prior to show. The food was good, but the atmosphere was just ok. Need to turn down the lights and turn up the heat! It was so cold in the restaurant. They had two heater fans going but didn't help a lot.
Kindee is a neighborhood Thai place that has moved up and down in our experience, and lately it has been up. Very efficient service, fresh ingredients, well prepared, quick service at lunchtime. Sometimes if there is a matinee at the Guthrie Theater across the street is is packed, other times it is quiet. I judged this rating on food a bit lower because they tend to use a bit too much oil for my tastes on noodle dishes, but their soups are excellent, as are their spring rolls... those are NOT too greasy at all, incredibly light.
We went here before a play at the Guthrie and the food was outstanding. The wait staff were very friendly, sometimes a little hard to find, but they were very helpful and accommodating. We did specifically go for a Mango sticky rice dessert, which they just took off the menu! PLEASE BRING BACK THE MANGO STICKY RICE we will definitely go back.
I like Kind a lot. It's a great place to dine pre-Guthrie or 10,000 Things. The food is both delicious and attractively presented, the service is outstanding (even during a full pre-theatre crowd), the prices are quite reasonable, and it's never too noisy to have an actual conversation.
Kindee Thai is a regular pre-Guthrie performance dinner spot for us. It was very busy on the Sunday night we were there, but thanks to our Open Table reservations there was immediate seating. The appetizers are always excellent. It's possible to "spice up" your entree on a scale from 1 to 5. The spicy entrees are clearly marked. The wine selection is small, but adequate. Serving staff is always knowledgeable about the nuances of menu items.
We had an early dinner reservation. Only one waitress was on duty and she seemed busy even at 4:45, but she handled things well. My wife had the vegetable stir-fry and I had the duck and noodle soup (I forget the Thai name) and both were tasty and satisfying. Very nice presentation, and I didn't have to ask for chopsticks. The house red wine was more than acceptable. This is a well-run restaurant with great food and perfect for an evening at the Guthrie.
My partner and I absolutely loved our meal at Kindee! We were there on a date to the Guthrie and stopped at Kindee before our show. I got the tofu pad thai and my partner got a curry with duck. The tofu was amazingly fried and delicious, and the curry was surprisingly sweet and spicy. I found that the natural lighting and interesting overhead lighting and seating completed the atmosphere. I would make this a regular restaurant in our rotation!
We chose this restaurant based on it's location across from the Guthrie and the fact that we enjoy Asian food. We were planning on attending a play after dinner. We arrived on time and right after a couple with no reservations. They were given a table by the window which we had asked to reserve. We were offered a table crowded in behind a party of 10 guests. I needed to make a fuss before finally being seated in a quieter area. Once we were seated, we received very prompt, friendly service but were not offered any advise regarding the menu. We chose an excellent fried egg roll which came immediately. Then we ordered a vegetable stir fry with added chicken and a honey chicken main course. Both were bland and extremely skimpy. We noticed the noodle dishes served at other tables were much more generous. Our portions were smaller than some children's menu items I have seen in other restaurants. We were not offered any dessert choices and did not notice anyone else eating any dessert so even though we were still hungry, we skipped dessert. The atmosphere is cozy here and the waiter took our order with a pleasant demeanor but was totally disinterested in making sure we were pleased with the food. We would not return to this restaurant even though it is very convenient to the theater. If for some reason we must go back here we would definitely order a noodle dish so we had some food to eat.
Wonderful server/service and food. After watching the production of Romeo and Juliet across the street, I took three 15-year-olds to eat a type of food two of them had never had before...and they all LOVED it!!! It was made even better by having a friendly and attentive server!
