Kincaid's - St. Paul
comfort , of trends and tradition, of fresh thinking
and established methods -- Kincaid’s is the
New Classic American restaurant.
Beautiful restaurant with amazing food and great staff to guide you through the experience.
Outstanding food and service! Great place to grab a bite to eat prior to an event or just for a date night!!
Great place--Salmon was wonderful! Service was great!
Our server Sharone was very friendly and made us feel very comfortable and we had an excellent time!
Valentine’s Day date was great
Went there on Valentines Day! Got a great booth. Ambiance was awesome and our server was even better. We eat out a lot so we know what’s good. This was fantastic. Loved the bar before our reservation too.
This is where we go when we want a nice dinner. My wife’s favorite pea salad was not on the menu on Valentine’s Day, but the waiter arranged for it to be prepared. My filet was perfectly done. My wife’s scallops (though smaller than usual) were nicely done. The martinis with blue cheese olives were perfect.
I remember when Kincaid's was a gem. I hadn't eaten there in a few years, so I was excited to snag a last minute Valentine's Day reservation. Unfortunately, our experience was a real let down. The service was fine, but the food was a disappointment. Kincaid's used to have some of the best prime rib around. This time it was ridiculously chewy and was almost inedible. It was probably the worst I've ever had. I should have sent it back, but I was surprised that our server didn't notice my struggle cutting it, or the fact that I only ate a small amount. The porterhouse was decent, with good flavor, but it should be at that price point. Neither of our potato or vegetable sides were good: bland and clearly overcooked. The quality of this establishment has gone down drastically, yet the high price remains. We left disappointed after a $170 tab. There's just too many great options out there for that price.
I ordered a well done steak which was still pink on the inside the value was expensive the menu doesn’t have the prices on it I’m from nyc where the steaks are STEAKS someone told me to try this out never again
Our server was great. She was friendly and outgoing.
The food was great!! Our server did a fabulous job. She answered all of our questions and was very friendly and pleasant. I totally recommend this restaurant.
Most things about our meal were perfect, except one, and that was a biggee . . . the entre. The ambience and service were great, and our pre-dinner lemon drops were perfect. The artichoke appetizer was delicious, as was the dessert. But, we both ordered the prime rib and were very disappointed. The meat was just plain tough, and even hard to cut. It had some flavor, but I have had much better prime rib at lower end restaurants for a fraction of the price. Kinkead's is positioned as a high end steak and seafood restaurant. They just can't serve sub-par prime rib. While the rest of the meal and experience were good, we could not get over the bad main course (with it's high price) and won't be back.
The food and service was outstanding, our waitperson was both professional, and personable. We have dined here numerous times, never a disappointment.
What a fantastic place to go when you have a special occasion. Great food, great service!! I just love it.
Nice fine dining, good for business or special occasions
Not the best experience I’ve had at Kincaids
Wonderful as always - the food and waitstaff are superb!!!
Surprisingly poor experience as we have been to this location a few times before and it was great. Steak was ordered med rare and came out at least med well. On 2nd attempt it was brought to me basically rare. At that point I could tell the manager noticed it was way undercooked, but he didn’t want to acknowledge it. Asked me if I wanted it done more... I didn’t want to send it back again and took it as is. He should have simply looked at it and taken ownership to the issue and said “let me make sure they get that to medium rare for you”.
No efforts were made to make it right. No offer of a discount or even a free dessert. It was as if they never wanted to acknowledge that a mistake was made. Very disappointing!
The food was pretty average. We had the appetizer sampler and the crab artichoke dip was 90% onion and very little crab. The other two apps were good (teriyaki beef and shrimp and grits), but nothing to write home about.
Entrees were rack of lamb (good but not great) and prime rib (good but not great). Not really worth the money. Cocktails were good though!
Service and noise level were excellent. Soups, Lobster Bisque and Clam Chowder were very well done. Meat Loaf Wellington was interesting good. Veggies were overdone but the staff was highly responsive and made a it into a minor bump in the road. The Key Lime Pie was exceptionally well done.
Love Kincaids as it's a solid choice before attending late evening shows in the area. Generally a higher-end establishment (white linen tablecloths, cloth napkins, professionally knowledgable servers), casual diners are still welcomed to stop in even for appetizers. I had the French Onion Soup for my entree and it was beyond delicious; I got a chance to chat with the chef about his bold choice of replacing gruyere cheese with Swiss...not a fan of sharper cheese, but the soup broth itself was heavenly. We also shared calamari, and while pretty standard (save the buttermilk breading), my companion managed to clean the plate (ha!). Staff and servers were more than accommodating with coat check, wine suggestions, and attentive table service throughout. Took one star away from ambiance as we reserved a table with a view and 20 minutes into dining a couple was seated in the window opposite us, blocking our view and much too close in a sparsely seated section for comfortable conversation. Other than that, a terrific experience!
I’ve frequented this establishment on multiple occasions and I was very dismayed at this experience. From the lack of being offered bread prior to our meal, to the lack of timeliness to receiving our food, the service did not meet my expectations or standards of a high quality dining experience. One member of our dining party specifically instructed the server that she was allergic to any type of pepper but was given a bowl of soup with red pepper flakes. Fortunately she did not consume enough to cause an allergic reaction. It took over 40 minutes for the entrees to be delivered and the restaurant was not filled to capacity. Three of the four in our dining party ordered scallops and we each shared that the quality and taste of the food was lacking. I now questioning whether Kincaid’s will be my choice for future fine dining.
We had a wonderful experience with a great service!
Good Caesar salad, good mashed potatoes, Dijon chicken was over-breaded and dry; the Meatloaf Wellington was good, but the carrots were burnt. The Warm Bread Pudding and the Pomegranate cheesecake were excellent.
Extremely disappointing!!! I was excited to eat here, craving a good steak, this place was recommended to us by locals. It got good reviews on google but I was not impressed. I’ve had better steaks at Applebee’s. If I’m paying $50+ for a 8-12oz steak it better be amazing and I was so disappointed. Waitress was OK, dry personality, only checked on our table once, the hostess was amazing and made our experience. Definitely will not be going back here, steak was full of tendons and extremely chewy. Not impressed with the quality for a $50+ steak. We ended up ordering pizza when we got back to the hotel room.
Our server was really kind and attentive. When we asked questions about wine comparisons, he had descriptions of the wines printed and we were able to choose one of the best cabs we’ve ever had. We were very pleased with our meals, and were surprised when our server brought us a complimentary dessert because we were celebrating our anniversary. Dining at Kincaid’s made our special evening more memorable, and we will definitely be back!
Kincaids in St. Paul is one of our all-time favorite restaurants, which we visit every time we go to the Ordway. The food is always fantastic -- creatively and deliciously prepared. Service is spot-on. We love the setting, location, etc, What's not to like?
Love the food, the wait staff, the setting, the mindfulness of the staff of time of Opera or Theater start times.
Located in downtown St. Paul and directly across the street from the St. Paul Hotel. This is an outstanding restaurant for Business and pleasure. The service is outstanding, especially if you get Rene!
For a change, we didn't order entrees. Instead, we got the appetizer sampler (three appetizers) plus one more appetizer. That may be our new way of dining; it was a delicious variety of flavors. Also, it was lighter than two entrees would be, a big plus.
Food and service were outstanding. It was a little loud but nothing that ruined the experience. We will be back!
Food was delicious and the service was professional, and cordial. Wish they stayed open a little later than 10 pm on a Saturday night, especially since we couldn’t get a reservation till after 7 pm. We felt a little rushed with blinking lights sending reminders for us to leave.
I took my sister - a real foodie visiting from the Seattle area - more because Kincaid's is so conveniently located to Ordway Theater. I was expecting the experience to be adequate for her high standards. However, we were both so impressed and we absolutely loved our meal. We shared the signature salad and both had the lamb, which was done to perfection (she had ordered medium rare and I had ordered medium). Our server was helpful and knowledgable without being at all intrusive and we got to the opera with time to spare.
Another nice meal at Kindcaid's. Perfect place for pre-Ordway dinner. Excellent, friendly service and wonderful food.
We were extremely disappointed in our dinner recently. The food was so salty as to be almost inedible. We would have sent our entrees back to the kitchen, but we were dining before a performance, and didn't have time. I left much of my meal, and drank four glasses of water.
Great old fashioned
Great prime rib, one of the best I’ve had.
I would go back. The service was good but not as good as the food and ambiance. I wouldn't let it keep me from returning.
For the money you spend, you’d expect to have descent food. I don’t go out much and maybe that’s my problem, but the sirloin wasn’t cooked remotely close to what i asked for. I did not send it back because frankly i don’t trust that the food wouldn’t be tampered with for sending it back. The best thing about my meal was the crab legs! They were really good! Dessert was also a treat but for the money, you can find a better steak and better value...too bad because it’s a really nice looking place with a relaxed vibe.
Great wait staff, great food, awesome spot for a date before the Wild game
I have never had a bad meal at this Kincaids The service is excellent and the food is outstanding Would come here before even thinking of going to the Blmgtn Kincaids
