Kincaid's - Redondo Ratings and Reviews
We ordered two martini's. My boyfriend's martini arrived in a "typical" martini glass. Mine arrived in a Frank Sinatra 60's era glass that was half the size. I asked our Server to bring me one in a normal size glass. I was told that since I ordered my gin martini stirred, as it should be, it gets a smaller glass. Hmmm, never heard that one, and not acceptable. I requested a normal size glass. When he returned he had merely poured my half drink into the larger glass. I then asked to have him actually fill the glass. He then came back with a shaken drink, which destroys the flavor of the requested drink. I asked to speak to the Manager. Upon hearing my request she argued with me three times before I finally told her I didn't care what their stirred vs. shaken policy was and requested a full drink. I was exceedingly polite, other than the not caring remark, and the situation was finally corrected. I felt compelled to assure her I was happy to pay extra for a full drink. I would have let it go at that unfortunate, extended experience, but when my $29 Seafood Louie Salad arrived it was shredded iceberg lettuce, 4 sliced cherry tomatoes, two shrimp, a smattering of crab meat, and a small piece of salmon. That's not worth $29 anywhere.
Having said all that, I'd like to commend our Server, Roy, for excellent service. Following the Company policy, albeit flawed, was not a negative reflection on him.
We have been to Kincaid's a few times. This was the first time we were not satisfied with the service. I made a reservation for a Saturday night, arrived on time but waited 15 minutes to be seated. Our server took a long time to greet us and come back to take our food order. Our food arrived 45 minutes after we were seated. Many open tables so I don't know why service was so noticeably slow. It may be a while before we return.
We were disappointed during our last visit. We had to remind the server to bring the wine, my salmon was half cooked, the server said happy birthday to the wrong person several times and she didn't ask us if we wanted dessert or coffee.
We were at your restaurant during the holidays and had a wonderful dinner. Not sure what happened last Saturday.
We go to Kincaid's once or twice a year and usually come out very satisfied. The last couple of times however, the food was good, but not great. The service was very good as usual. This might seem a bit picky, but my husband and I both commented on the fact that the tables were absent tablecloths - we seem to remember tablecloths which contribute to this restaurant being one for special occasions.
Kincaids is my favorite restaurant for view and ambiance. I always enjoy my meals. My steak was cooked perfectly, the vegetables were amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed the truffle oil. My only critiques would be 1) I wish the menu was a little more creative 2) my salad was drowning in dressing. I love dressing, so for me to say it was a lot says a lot.
The menu always seems fresh and creative at Kincaid's. Great food, well prepared and presented in a charming ambiance, makes this our ongoing local choice for a pleasant and unique dining experience. We've never been disappointed in over ten years going there.I highly recommend it!
Went there for lunch and had to sit inside because outside had a 2 hour wait. It’s fine inside for a business lunch because it’s very stuffy and proper. Food is rather pricey for everyday dining and overall rather meh.
Their happy hour is awesome when you can sit outside and enjoy the ocean breeze, inside I don’t recommend unless you like stuffy overpriced food.
If you sit outside and go for happy hour, one of the best places on the pier.
Made reservations for Christmas Dinner. Kincaids offered an apprebreviated menu for the holiday that picked some of the best dishes on their menu - short ribs with mushroom ravioli, prime rib, scallops, clam chowder - with enough variety to provide a choice for any diner. This restaurant has one of the best seaside locations in the area on the Redondo horseshoe pier facing the entrance to King Harbor on one side and the beach and south side of the pier on the other. Redondo Beach has free parking for the holidays - an added bonus. The chocolate cake with ice cream and chocolate sauce was the perfect finish to an enjoyable meal.
I have been going to Kincaid's for decades and it's one of my favorite restaurants. I don't know what happened this time around but the food was sub-par, this Christmas 2017. It's always been very consistent with the service and the food but this is the first time I can say that it was not good, at all. Maybe the cook was upset he had to work on Christmas. I don't really know, but the previous years we've gone there for Christmas the food was just as excellent for that holiday as it was for the rest of the year. This will not stop me from going or referring it, but I will be more critical on judging the food from now on. I still love it and our server was the nicest and sweetest guy. Keep up the good work.
My order of the seasonal vegetables was a serving of carrots that were covered in a sweet sauce. The sauce was too sweet and too much of it was served over the carrots. Otherwise, the prime rib and salmon entrees that we ordered were perfectly prepared per our requests.
Didn't expect a limited menu for Christmas Eve but they customized the meal to how I wanted the salmon to be prepared. It was exquisite/delicious! Thank you!
My husbands ribs with revioli meal was dissaponting , he never ever says a meal is dissapoiting, he's a fan of Kincaid's and will always recommend as the place to go in RB but he actually said the ribs were better at Suburbia!
Been wanting to experience this local icon for some time and we finally did for a special pre-Christmas dinner. Not cheap, not crazy expensive. You definitely get your money’s worth. Absolutely delicious lamb, wonderful seafood linguini, outstanding scallop dish, no disappointments. Superb service, great location, fine dining with humble, caring, skilled staff.
The seafood Louie salad is my favorite but I had the crab sandwich this time. What a wonderful surprise. I recommend this place for a special occasion, a business lunch or a weeknight reward to yourself. It is always a great experience and I highly recommend it.
Calamari were very oily and more dough than calamari. The mani mahi was still raw and till they brought it back , my husband already finished home meal . Dessert ,key lime pie was way too sweet and no meringue but whipped cream instead .
No ambiance either.
The only good thing about this place is the location, by the water .. I came here for lunch with a friend visiting from UK. The food was average, though the worst was the service (our waiter). When the waiter brought as check, we asked him to take a picture of us. His answer was: "No, I can't. I am too busy .." and he left. In fact the restaurant wasn't really busy. Just few tables on a patio. This has never happened to me before. Extremely rude !! Going there I was hoping for my guest to have a pleasant experience. It turned out to be the opposite. I won't come back, and will sure tell the story to others
I made my reservation a month in advance hoping to get put by a window to see the sunset and the boat parade. Instead they let folks walk in earlier in the day and take up those seats not honoring the reservation. That said, for $49 the lobster tails we less than good and the portions we small. The only good thing about the evening was the Bourbon Cocktail. I won't be going back.
Rack of lamb well done burnt on outside raw on the inside! Cook should be ashamed to let this out of the kitchen. No mint jelly and they said they have never heard of that served with Lamb. What????????
Dining experience leaves a lot to be desired for $200!!! Yes
I had the Wagyu sirloin. It was a little stringy, and over seasoned (salty), but prepared as I like it. Once the food was served we never saw the server again until the bill arrived. My wife had the scallops which she said were very good. Overall a bit disappointing for the price.
We brought my parents for a post-Thanksgiving celebratory dinner. Our prior experience at Kincaid’s was sub-par. I let them know that in the notes of my reservation and they more than made up for it. Our service was superb and the staff went out of their way to make our evening a great one. My mother has very specific dietary restrictions and our server was phenomenally patient with her.
