Kincaid's - Bloomington Ratings and Reviews
There were 7 of us for brunch. Booked ahead and restaurant wasn't busy, however service was incredibly slow. We ordered a variety of menu items and all were underwhelming. 3 orders of Chilaquiles, and each of them were dry and lacking flavor. The Prime Rib Hash was more like stew. The Bloody Mary's were good. We would go back to the bar for happy hour, but will not be back for brunch.
Dined on Feb 16th, 2018 with my wife. My wife and I first ordered a cocktail and an appetizer. The appetizer was very good but the cocktails were very poor. I had two drinks gin/tonic. the first had, what seemed like, no gin. The second was so strong I could not enjoy it but put up with it. My wife ordered the lobster tails and found the tails, two five ounce, five ounce probably including the shells so meat portion was very small. Fifty dollars was excessive. I had the 10 oz filet mignon and was a big disappointment. The steak was almost cool and was maybe one inch thick. I ordered it med/rare and it came to me a very light pink bordering on medium. Cooked as it was it was still cool when served. The service was fine but with tax and tip the cost of our dinner was $220.00 well overpriced.
Kincaid’s was generally up to its usual excellence. However my wife’s meal was not up to their standard. She did not mention it until after we returned home. They would have made it right. This is one of our favorite places for lunch or dinner and for special occasions.
Normally one of our go-to spots, the last visit has given us pause on whether to return. Very busy, understandably, yet not overwhelmingly so. Greeted quickly by our server, who was efficient and friendly. The problems arose with the food. Bland, overdone, seemingly thrown onto the plate without regard to presentation or appeal. The Prime Rib, ordered medium, was teetering on well done. The side of vegetables was sparse- we counted four total pieces. In contrast, the lobster dish had about a cup or so for its serving (of the same side). I will normally take most of my portions home due to some dietary restrictions so I asked for the remainder to be boxed. They remove the food and do this in the back room. Normally a nice touch, however, when I looked at the packaging, I found that the assistant threw the hot appetizer on top of the cold salad...I guess two boxes was too much to ask for?? Also, half of the appetizer and half of my remaining entree were missing- the lobster I took home was tossed into a second container without the remaining sides. I realize this is somewhat silly, but the cost of the meal demands better service than that- and half of my meal was forgotten by the waitstaff. Kincaids has started to decline as of late at this location, hopefully not a sign of things to come.
Again, incredibly impressed with the Service - Lucky enough to have LJ (Lori) as our server and she seemed to remember everything we had during our last meal in Mid January. She is a wealth of knowledge, and is very, very pleasant. I wish she could move to my hometown to train some of the newbies in how to treat a customer!
We have been to Kinkaids dozens of times over the years and always enjoyed it immensely. This visit however was very disappointing. Our server was very indifferent, When the food eventually arrived, our guest found a long blond hair on her food!!! She decided to ignore this rather than wait for a replacement. two of us had Eggs Benedict, which had inedible muffins, really hard. As I said , not what we expected. Sincerely Patricia Keogh
Had not been here in years. Great cocktails in bar, delicious oysters, was feeling fine till huge time lapse before food came, then lost the mood and tired... My walleye was bland and overcooked, and came with some brussel sprout slaw that was way more slaw than brussel sprouts, kinda gross. However, my husband had meatloaf Wellington, and he loved it! Complimentary desserts due to slowness, and great waiter Caleb, so all was not lost. The space is pretty and I would give it another try.
Not sure what the problem was here this night as I have had better experiences in the past.
Our waitress must have been overwhelmed by other tables and in a different section as we rarely saw her that night.
We ordered our salads and meals at the same time. We were done with our salads for at least 30 minutes before our meals came and the food was not hot enough that it just came out of the oven.
Kind of put a damper on a special occasion.
This won't stop me from coming back, but probably not as often.
Disappointing visit. Seasonal salad was the highlight of the meal. Waited way too long for entrees, then they were barely warm. Server had too many tables and was rushed. We ordered dessert to go then waited twenty minutes after check was paid, we were considering just leaving without it. Restaurant was not that busy.
We dine at Kincaid's on a monthly basis. Although we do not eat steak often, every time we do have their steaks, we are disappointed. The steaks are neither tender nor flavorful.
There are numerous other steak centric restaurants in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area that do a much better job (Murray's, Manny's, Capital Grill, Ruth Chris).
Fortunately, Kincaid's has much more success with several other entrees. Likewise, service is usually great. Atmosphere is pleasant and conducive to conversation. Too bad they can't find a better option with their beef.
My meal was great, not an issue. My wife loves walleye but her meal was the worst walleye ever. A little walleye over beans?? The wait staff were great but the meal was very disappointing! We have been going to this restaurant for many years, mostly for special occasions but very likely won't be going back after that meal.
I brought my wife there for her birthday. Had reservations for an early dinner at 3:00PM. We each had a drink and ordered. We both had soup that was very good, but was warm when we got it and cool by the time we finished. We waited between 40 and 45 minutes from the time we ordered for the main course to be brought to the table. My fish was wonderful. My wife ordered the prime rib (medium)and it came medium rare if not rare. After a few bites, I noticed that she was just eating the outside edges of the prime rib. I asked her if it tasted good. She said the taste was very good, but it was cold. I asked if she wanted to send it back and she said that she would take it home and cook it longer. I asked to pay the bill and several minutes later ended up going to the front desk to get my check. By that time we were under a time crunch to get to a 5:30PM movie.
The food is fantastic. The prime ribs is a must as well as the short ribs. The only meal that was not up to their usual high standards was with the oysters, but only once.
The service was a bit slow on our last visit. It was about 35 min before we ordered? Not normal.. however we will be back!
