Kincaid's - Bloomington Ratings and Reviews
Pricey, but very good fresh fish special of halibut -- gorgeous preparation with very light Asagio crust and lovely beurre blanc sauce. No one will accuse them of serving over-cooked asparagus!
However, while crunchy, it was very flavorful, almost like farmer's market. The mashed potato side was just fine. Decent wine list - has been updated this year, which is good as it was the same for so long. Was quite surprised and dismayed by the unannounced "living wage service charge" that appeared on the final bill! Yikes, was 2.9% of the total bill -- and this was computed on not only our ordered food and wine, but also on the free birthday desserts and the $40 reward credit I was using. Underhanded and sneaky way to raise prices.
Kincaid’s had a wide variety on their menu. French onion soup was very good and traditional. Several folks ordered steaks with a dipping sauce which were good. The salmon had good flavor, but was over cooked; potatoes were great. Caesar salad was crisp and fresh, but the dressing had too much garlic. The chopped burger was good. Jerry, our server was great and very attentive. We would go back to Kincaid’s.
Seated right away, with a good table. Although all of the tables seem to be the right balance of privacy and ambiance. Selections were good, with pricing reasonable. Love their Maytag Blue Cheese Salad, which no longer shows up on the menu but will be served if you ask.
On this visit to my favorite restaurant some of the food wasn't hot and the flavor was missing its usual tastiness. I assume a new chef - definitely disappointing.
I've also noticed on recent visits that the hostesses are not warm and friendly which was always a hallmark of Kincaid's.
I'll always go back to Kincaid's but they need to step up their welcome committee and food.
We had a great experience at Kincaids in Bloomingon. We felt the St Paul location had gone downhill a bit and had had a couple not so great experiences there, so we decided to try the Bloomington location and it was much much better....the quality and professionalism we were hoping for. We will be back!
Our family was here to celebrate our 40th anniversary with their champagne brunch. 5 of us had one of the egg dishes 3 had over cooked eggs. The 3 who had the bad eggs were because the eggs were so over cooked. Our daughter who doesn't put up with bad food had her very hard cooked poached eggs done over. Morning pouched eggs need to be runny especially after we asked for runny eggs.
WONDERFUL DINNER AS ALWAYS! We first ate at Kincaids in the 1990s and we have always had great food and service. Had prime rib and walleye and both were wonderful dinners. The service is always great. We have eaten there 3 times this year and look forward to the next time. Thank you for a great experience!
We went to Kincaid's for Restaurant week. The Prime Rib was good. The Salmon, with Crab & Crab sauce on top, was to die for, it was so Moisture & Flavorful. We both got a huge heap of mash potatoes, that were great. Also got Asparagus, which was wonderfully prepared.
I wish they would have offered some Chocolate desert. I did see one on the regulatory menu. We will be back!
Our server, Caleb, was great; he gave us just the perfect amount of attention. the lobster bisque was excellent and although the prime rib was tasty it was a bit dry. The evening was very enjoyable for two friends having dinner and a nice visit. we were not rushed out of there and left alone to enjoy our conversation without constant interruptions. I would return.
We went on restaurant week. The beef was very good, the chicken was dry and not so good.
We had dinner salads that were both very good. Loved the atmosphere. Wish they had a few more choices of dessert on the menu for restaurant week. Over all a fun evening!
Everything was delicious and very well presented. We went for restaurant week and now we will definitely be back. Had great food, drinks, wonderful staff, and of course great company.
Was very beautiful and everyone was super friendly. We all loved it. See you soon.
Kincaids has never before disappointed before. I hope this was a one off. The bartender had no clue this was the beginning of Restaurant week. I had to go to the hostess station to get a menu. First course, a Caesar salad was served immediately, however, the second course was delayed for what seemed forever. I finally had to ask what the problem was. It would have been better if it had never come! The prime rib looked as though it had come from Denny's. It was thin, cut grotesquely, and when turned over was well done, as if it had sat under a heat lamp waiting to be served. The potatoes were Luke warm and the vegatables were burned and limp! I had a plane to catch, therefore, was unable to get a proper replacement. Very disappointed!
It was date night with my wife. Server was excellent. Very attentive and ordering was smooth and quick. My salad and my wife's soup were excellent but our entrees (both fish - 2 different types were overdone and bland. My gnocchi seemed overcooked. Food presentation was nice and it was a full portion, but for the price the food quality was in my view substandard.
Our anniversary. No wait time, food was great, service exceptional, surprised us with dessert and even received an appetizer coupon for our next visit. Just a great evening. Only negative was we had a partially used gift card that was not honored. I was surprised a Kincaid's gift card ever expired.
Our group of 8 "old" friends met for dinner. The service was excellent, even with the corner table that was hard for the server to access. We appreciated being away from the crowd so we could chat. The food was fine but not exceptional (where's the asparagus that's pictured on the date night menu?). All in all we enjoyed our dinner and will return.
Had brunch with my family. My eggs and bacon were lukewarm and cold, toast not buttered.. My server gave us the bill before he had to be reminded to bring us the complimentary Crème Brule. We've dined here many times, but compared to past experiences, it seemed to me that the value of Kincaid's has declined significantly.
Another great date night meal with just my husband this time. We have met many other couples here for Kincaids date night menu. For $60 a couple we each get to choose soup or salad, choice of 4 different entrees, Key lime pie or crème brule, AND a bottle of red or white wine! The date night menu is available Sunday and Thursday nights. I had the chicken Dijon. My husband had the salmon. The food and service at Kincaids are always wonderful!
