Permanently Closed - Kincaid's Bayhouse - Oakland

CLOSED. Yes. This place was close. Has been for awhile I guess. Thanks Open Table got accepting the reservation and confirming it the day before only to walk up to the door and see the sign closed forever! I will now call directly to the restaurant when making reservations. I was embarrassed and upset and how to scramble to get an alternative place to eat with friends from New York in town.

Kincaids closed. Sad to see.

Everything was fabulous! The green curry scallops were to die for and we had a great view on the harbor. We’ll be back again when in Oakland.

My wife and I went to Kincaid's for our Anniversary. We made a reservation with this information included. We each had a cocktail ~ my wife loves Cosmopolitans ~ and ordered an exotic variation, which she really enjoyed. I had the best Old Fashioned I have ever had. Our dinners came in a timely manner and were exceptionally delicious. The one dry spot was the fingerling potatoes. These were undercooked and were not to be desired. There was no mention of our anniversary, until our server saw the card that I had given to my wife, "Celebrating something tonight?" We mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary, and they brought out a nice dessert at the end of dinner.

Overall, a very nice evening at Kincaid's.

Prime rib dinner was just ok.

Four of us friends went to Kincaid's for a special lunch. It was on a Monday, so the place was particularly quiet, which we really appreciated. I particularly appreciate that the floor of the dining area is carpeted to absorb noise. Very attentive service - they were there when we needed but otherwise left us alone to visit. Good selections on the menu, albeit a little pricey. Kincaid's is great for a special occasion or business lunch.

Outstanding service from the hostess and Ely for Sunday brunch! Ely and the other servers were very attentive and knowledgeable.

Thank you also to the chefs and cooks for the delicious food! The calamari was perfectly breaded and fried. My cousin commented that it is one of the best fried calamari she has ever eaten. I enjoyed my delicious ribs, mac n cheese (with cornbread), and slaw. This dish is perfect in every way, and I want to return soon to get more!

We love going to Kincaid’s. It’s one of our favorite, classic restaurants in the East Bay.

The service and food was lackluster. Ive always had good experiences there. I was celebrating my birthday and it was my dates first time there Our food was not season well and the sort ribs were very dry. The waiter also kept bring things to the table that we didnt order

First time at Kincaid's and unfortunately also my last. I enjoy a good meal and am willing to pay for it on occasion. Here's why:

Drink service wasn't attended to until after I had sat and then made a restroom visit. I would have expected a great time of fewer than 5 minutes.

Service sub par. Examples include, same custom drink order made in bar arrived incorrectly. Sent back and was delivered with another, still wrong, drink. Drinks and appetizers delivered before water service (first thing waiter promised). The waiter lost one person's salad order and initially blamed runner. Later took responsibility. Salads delivered but no pepper offered until twice requested. Appetizers came quickly but food took almost an unreasonable time after that. The waiter did not appear to have more than 3 tables yet was rarely in proximity. Had to request the check with main meal delivery and felt rushed eating as we had a show. I would normally think this was our fault for not scheduling enough time but our reservation was 2 hours before our show. It took us 1 3/4 hours for dinnter and that doesn't include the bar time so drinks weren't the reason.

I must admit that as prices go up, I expect service to move from good to great to impeccable. That didn't happen here.

I'm saddened that the restaurant has gone out of business. It was easily one of my top 3 restaurants.. service, quality, and price were always reliably excellent.

Sunday evening, and out of standard faire, no oysters, calamari, etc, service great and the view was fantastic

We had terrible service. Not sure what happened but our table and a few others had a very bad waiter that unfortunately ruined our dining experience.

Our party of 5 was very happy with their various dishes. We love the view out onto the Oakland estuary, especially at dusk. The staff tried very hard to be attentive and friendly even though they were understaffed.

Food is always good. Excellent service. Very attentive -- continued to check on how we were doing and if we needed anything.

Spent a nice evening at Oakland Kinkades, Service was very good but I had the Meatloaf Welington, which had very little flavor. Two of our party had the Stealhead Trout which they enjoyed. The fourth person had the Salmon which was very good.

Sadly, Oakland increases costs, and minimum wages, helping cause this business into bankruptcy and is now closed

Beautiful view. Good service. Everyone was pleased, if not raving about their food. Raves were heard for the blueberry muffin French toast. All in all an excellent place for Sunday brunch offering a variety for every taste. Would definitely return.

Excellent waterfront views and very good seafood. Service was just right--helpful and knowledgeable without too much hovering.

Our waitress Nicole was amazing, dinner was amazing, drinks were amazing, everything.....AMAZING!!!

I love and will miss the crab dip!

The dinner was for our anniversary but no one acknowledged it. Our food came out while we were eating our appetizers and felt rushed. The shell fish fettuccini was good but very rich.

We went for my birthday and I made the reservations weeks in advance. I had the special filet with the crab. The amount of crab would fill a tablespoon and the sides were cold. Not worth $42. My husband had the salmon and his sides were under cooked and cold. The total bill was over $100. Very disappointing.

Overall it was good. But expensive and not worth the $200 spent honestly. I expected more. The calamari was probably the worst part of the meal. It was chewy and it’s bad that Olive Garden’s is better. Our server seemed new and anxious. And the market vegetables weren’t great. But the steak was cooked and seasoned well, my short ribs were delicious despite the fact that 30% of it was just a piece of inedible fat. And my wife’s meatloaf was amazing. The view over the bay of docked boats was great. But the restaurant is dated and needs new carpeting at least. The floors are sticky. For the cost, this should be a more elegant experience.

Ambiance lower than expected as the place needs update. Worn carpets, furnishings etc

Birthday dinner

Had a great birthday dinner with my wife, but timing with the dessert and coffee was off. Coffee came out first dessert came out 20 minutes later. I always feel coffee and dessert should come out simultaneously.

Good for meeting friends !!

A few glitches rapidly made right by server Natalie and the outstanding manager. Fabulous customer service. We’ve been enjoying Kincaid’s since it began. Thank you! Many restaurants need to take a lesson for these two.

Been a few years since I dined at Kincaid's (Oakland). Wow! What a letdown!

Made reservations ahead of time; walking up to the entrance area outside ... it was dead ...no one in sight. Approaching the entrance it was very noticeable how shabby the the area was .... outside walls were overly worn with bird dropping and remnants everywhere..not a pleasant sight to enter a restaurant.

Had me wondering: I wonder what the kitchen looks like ....

We were warmly greeted by the host and taken to the seating area ....the restaurant's large dining area felt ominous as there was only one other party seated ..........on a Friday @ Noon !

The service of the waiter was good as was his timeliness in ordering portions were adequate, but it was the quality that were the issues here.

My dining partner accidentally tipped over his water glass (about 1/3 full) after our meal was over; we soaked up as much as we could; summoned the waiter for assistance; he picked up the remaining dishes, made a feeble attempt to soak up water with a cloth napkin that didn't work (we tried also). He gave us our bill & then left us even though the entire table was now soaked !! He never came back!

We were left there with a table completely covered in water that had now been sloshed all around.

We couldn't even sign the billing receipts on the wet table ........

Been coming to Kincaid's over the decades ..........I guess there's always a last time.

The setting & view is the one very positive aspect .......fortunately, that does not change ........other aspects of Kincaid's has !!

As my companion said: "If Kincaid's doesn't care about maintaining the property, their meals & service, why should we?" Unfortunately, I must agree.

Service was great (I’m so sorry I can’t remember the name of the waitress) and the food was excellent. All 3 meals were well cooked and the different flavors and textures made this a birthday to remember for our friend (including the complimentary crime brûlée served with a candle for dessert).

Permanently ensconced in Jack London for many, many years this venerable Seafood and Steak restaurant offers up very good food, excellent service and an absolutely beautiful ambiance. Remember when you dine here to ask for seating overlooking the Bay where you can view the ships and boats passing by as you dine under the sunset. What a beautiful sight!

We got a waterfront table and the setting is perfect for a romantic evening!
