Kincaid's Bayhouse - Oakland Ratings and Reviews
Made reservations for Valentine’s Day. Seated on time at a nice window table. From the Valentine’s Day menu; we had the oysters which were tiny, the lobster bisque was good but not great, the 12oz prime rib was ok but more like medium rare than medium and the sides were very over cooked. Chocolate cake dessert good but again average. Service was friendly but rushed and forgot multiple things, also served the wrong wine. Overall disappointing, wouldn’t come here again on a holiday, seems like the quality is affected when it’s too busy.
Had cedar plank roasted steelhead. Was fresh and perfectly cooked. Delicious! Sides of mixed vegetables were bland. We couldn’t even tell what some of them were. Beets? Rutabaga’s? Had 2 cocktails and the glass wasn’t full on either one. The stem on one glass was sticky and the drink had obviously spilled. The cocktails are one of the reasons I come here. They are excellent. I just want the full glass I’m paying for. I will definitely be back. The fish alone is worth it and I think they just had an off night.
Greeter and wait staff a bit preoccupied and greeter acted a bit inconvenienced when the restaurant was almost empty. Requested a window seat 4 weeks ago and even though there were empty seats was not accommodated. Food is always great! More expensive than I remember.
This restaurant operates ONLY because of its location. We attempted to check-in but no staff at reception for 10 minutes! Unacceptable. Next hurdle--our server must have been new and overworked. Terrible service.
I have written this restaurant off regardless of its location. The food was adequate but not enough to go back due to understaffed restaurant
10+ minute wait for a 5:30 reservation when tons of tables were empty
HORRID (mostly non-existent) service - we were seated at a server-less table, with servers and bussers passing us for 15+ minutes never caring that we had yet to be greeted. Another 20 mins to get drinks from order. Food took longer. Sat in front of plates to be cleared for way too long.
INCORRECT ORDERS - drinks came out wrong
MISLEADING MENU - kids pasta was brown (whole wheat?) which was summarily rejected by said kid because the "noodles were wrong" - seriously, do not serve whole wheat noodles for a kids menu without noting as such
INCONSISTENT FOOD - aged wagyu steak arrived well done (WTF?!?!), potato fritters were ice cold in the middle, beans cooked to death, Brussels sprouts undercooked, carrots overcooked...
We will never dine here again - way too many options and way too little time to waste
Really variable service. Had my daughter’s birthday meal here. They took more than 30 minutes after we were ready to give our order (45 minutes after arrival) to take our order. We ordered all together. They brought my 3 yo’s food our almost an hour before our the rest of the party’s order. They did not follow dietary considerations for allergies and were one of our members to eat the dish they ordered how it was taken would’ve had to go to the hospital (fortunately they noticed). They brought out the appetizer after all the main courses had been served. The worst part of it all (why I’m even writing this review) was after all this the attitude was such that they were doing their best, and perhaps we were difficult customers, however these mistakes were made at a time it was not busy and every single thing we ordered came out differently than we had ordered it.
The meal overall was good. We hadn't been to dinner at Kincaids for a while. The soup/salads,
entrees were really good. The dessert, however, was weird. We ordered creme brûlée - it came
out like soup, not custard. It was not creme brûlée at all. They, did however, admit it was not
done properly and offered us another shot at creme brûlée. We didn't take the offer. Jennifer,
a manager, came over to our table to apologize. I felt they should have given a credit on the bill.
My husband and I both ordered the Peppercorn steak because of the description on the menu. It turned out to be nothing like the description. There were no peppercorns and the topping which was supposed to contain blue cheese, but barely had any on it. He ordered his steak medium well and I ordered mine medium rare. They were both done the same.
Great lunch combo special options. I had the clam chowder and open face crab sandwich. The staff was excellent. The decor was very nice and they have lots of tables that can get you a view of the water.
It was a number of years since I ate there. I'll be going back more often, I'm sure.
After waiting for awhile we had to ask for the waitress to come to our table, but once she did, she was friendly and for the most part attentive.
It took awhile for the food to come even though they didn't appear to be that busy.
The vegetables were inedible. They did offer substitutes once we brought it to their attention.
The meal was overpriced for what we received.
Not too pleased with the menu changes from the last time I was here.
This has been our go to place for our get togethers, but we might try somewhere else next time.
I've visited this wonderful place many times over the years. I've never had a plate that I didn't enjoy. Usually I'm very pleased with the food, but this is the first time that I found it to be very salty. I ordered the lobster bisque, and the scallops and both were just too salty. The service was outstanding as always, so I'm hoping it was just an odd night for the chef.
Our family of 4 enjoyed a delicious meal celebrating my husband's birthday while seated overlooking the beautiful SF bay. The server was pleasant and attentive. The ambiance was relaxing and calm. We enjoyed scallops, ravioli, salmon, seafood pasta, along with salads and calamari appetizer. Delicious! Will definitely visit again soon!
Was really looking forward to having a meal here, it was our first and last time. It seemed that they were short staffed and scattered. It took a long time to be seated even though we had a reservation, and then after being seated a very long time before the server came to take our order she then realized that we were not given a complete menu . The quality of the food was good but did not make up for the lack of service and organization.
The food that I ordered was not a good as times before It was my birthday my friends kept hinting to the server it was my birthday he didnt catch on the menu changed and you couldnt order what you like eating it was ok after all Not my first pick Anymore I choose to eat there for my birthday because we were attending a show at Yoshi’s
