Kincaid's Bayhouse - Oakland Ratings and Reviews
Food was mediocre- wedge salad was bland and didn’t have fresh bacon bits (which was hard to find/an after thought). Had to remind server -twice- that he had not served my cocktail, and the salmon dish was served with plain steamed squash (mostly zucchini) and a few fingerling potatoes! The best part of the meal was the Key Lime Pie!
Food was good, great views of the bay, but the service was awful. We had to ask for everyy- more iced tea, Splenda, bread, ice, or bill, and it took an inordinate amount of time to get it. Our server was friendly but slow. This is in spite of the fact that the restaurant was not that busy. This used to be one of my favorite dinner spots, but after having bad service three of the last four times that I went here, I am done.
I've been going Kincaid's for many years & enjoy its consistently great menu and cooking. The food is really delicious and they have many specialty dishes that I love, like the artichoke dip appetizer. The service is perfect and I like the open kitchen too. It's always a nice addition to the dining experience to see the food come across the counter to the waiters. The setting, of course, is always beautiful. The restaurant is not pretentious & has a relaxed atmosphere with top-notch food. It's an Oakland gem.
Kincaids - Oakland is loosing it magical dining experience. I was disappointed in the restaurant's new "Tasting Sampler". This used to come and a large 3-tier plate holder with nice sized portion of 3-separate appetizers. It's been reduces to a single plate with a paltry amount of food. For the hefty cost, this was a great disappointment. Usually my martini is filled to the rim of my glass. I had about quarter of an inch of my libation missing.
Some of the dishes are still tasty, but short-cut on the Tasting Sampler is a no go for me.
We normally enjoy Kincaids but tonight’s experience wasn’t the usual. Our dinner came to our table without the salads we ordered. Even though we reminded them that we hadn’t gotten our salad they never arrived. I had prime rib which was the toughest I’ve ever had but good flavor. Go figure. The bill arrived without an offer of coffee or dessert When I mentioned that my prime rib was really tough our server told us that was to be expected because I ordered an end cut. Really?? To add insult the stupid salad was still on our bill. Our intimate dinner didn’t turn out as we planned. Our past experiences have not been like tonight so we will be back but never on a holiday.
This was our second Thanksgiving dinner at Kincaid's/Jack London Square. The Thanksgiving turkey plate (with all the fixings) is as good (if not better) than what we could cook at home -- and there is no clean-up needed! (We even had leftovers for the next day.) Our table overlooked the water/marina and we watched a gorgeous sunset. It was a relaxing holiday experience and we'll be back again!
Shared our family's first restaurant style Thanksgiving dinner at beautiful Kincaid's! The atmosphere was joyous, warm and cheerful. The service was exceptional! Our overall experience was excellent. Kincaid's has been one of our family's favorite places to enjoy each others company and we have celebrated several special occasions here over the years. Kincaid's never disappoints. Special 'thank you' to the chefs and staff for providing a wonderful dining experience.

This was my second Thanksgiving at Kincaid's. It was a lovely time with attentive, good-humored staff. Despite the probably chaos of a holiday seating, we never felt rushed. I don't know how the staff seemed so calm with all of the people there. Your planning was great. I'll be back on another holiday!
Decided to try a restaurant on Thanksgiving for the first time, and really enjoyed the turkey & stuffing special here. Hubby got prime rib, so it was a nice mix of traditional and non-traditional meals for a holiday... kitchen-free! Fantastic service, top-notch. The martinis are amazing, I wanted all of them, so we will likely go back and try dinner with their regular menu, as well. They don't really know how to make an espresso or serve it in the right cup, but that seemed a small detail. Overall had a lovely time :)
The Thanksgiving meal was excellent: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables, gravy and cranberry relish. The portions were so generous we had to take half of it home to have for another meal. The scallops were to-die-for and they were served with yummy corn grits and vegetables. Our server was outstanding. He was very friendly and efficient in spite of the fact that the restaurant was packed for lunch and he was busy every minute with many tables. We love the ambiance of Kincaid's since it looks out on the Oakland Estuary.
Our first time at this restaurant and we were very pleasantly impressed. The food was excellent and visually appealing as presented. I opted for the Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf (an old time favorite which you rarely see on a restaurant's menu). It was served with gravy, mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables and it was very good, indeed! My wife chose a Wild Mushroom Ravioli With Braised Shortribs; beautifully presented and so delicious - Hey, it's my wife and we share! We came away wishing we lived closer so we could visit more often. We highly recommend this restaurant. Bon Appetite!
We traveled to Oakland for an event and wanted to eat somewhere on the water, what a great find! Excellent wine selection, great food, wonderful service...we were impressed! We loved it so much we went back for lunch the next day. There's a great little wine bar, Lungomare (sp?) a few doors down for a predinner app and wine. Great location, lots of fun! We'll definitely go back if/when we are in Oakland.
Immediately seated at a great table by the window. Slight, damp, musty smell, but not overwhelming. Started with a Stone Ruination Double IPA--most excellent. We had bowls of New England clam chowder and French onion soup--delish, ample serving, not too salty. Main dishes: Columbia River Steelhead trout with two potatato cakes and some veggies; breaded chicken Dijon with mashed potatoes, and spinach with bacon. Both main dishes were very well prepared and were done just right--compliments to the Chef! Most outstanding meal. Service was good. Definitely recommend! IMO, more like $$$ instead of $$.
The food is always good but for some reason this night the service was just ok. The service is always friendly... however our soups were delivered without spoons and our prime ribs were delivered with out proper steak knives. We had to ask for certain items twice. This is not typically our experience. Although the issues were resolved... when you are waiting as your soups and entries are getting cold you wonder how these simple details are missed i.e. why would you serve soup w/o a spoon. Anyhow, oping it was just an off night and not anything more.
This was my third time dining at Kincaid's, so I have a bit of a track record. The seasonal menu offered this time included a creative (and filling!) blackened catfish/jambalya dish as well as an excellent salad with bleu cheese. If skies are clear and you're here at sunset, the view of the waterfront is quite nice.
