Kimo's Restaurant Maui Ratings and Reviews
Our dinners were excellent! We each had a fresh fish..opakapaka and Ono. The prep of Parmesan crusted with a wonderful sauce with capers was delicious. We also had a lovely ocean view table. Our hula pie was the perfect ending to a delightful evening! Kimos is one of our favorites on Maui.
My wife and I have dined at more than a dozen restaurants on the west side of West Maui and Kimo's is definitely the best. It is the one restaurant that we go to multiple times during our one week visits to West Maui. Excellent seafood. Excellent atmosphere. Very reasonable prices compared to other restaurants of similar quality.
Known for their preparation of fishes! I usually get the lobster topped, but I also tried the parmesan crusted and citrus ones which were both delicious because of the type of fish they are prepared with! Service varied with speed each visit, but overall attentive.
The food was delicious especially the sweet potato and Brussel sprout hash. There was a great band with a very talented female vocalist. The only downside was they did not ring our pager as when my husband went to check to see how much longer, they sat us immediately. Even with the table mix-up we would go back again.
Loved the evening. Had filet mignon...perfectly cooked and seasoned, accompanied by a delicious smear of carrot purée, chimichurri, fingerling potatoes, and a medley of roasted veggies. The complimentary rolls and carrot cake muffins were fresh, warms and tasty. Ambience couldn't get any better...subtle lighting and ocean waves rolling in, oceanside. Only complaint was waiter was rushing us near the end of our meal, and throughout the process of paying our bill, which was very awkward. It was near closing time so I understand the waiter's motivation, but he could've made better choices regarding his approach.
This used to be a favorite place to have dinner when in Maui but it has gone way downhill. More popular than ever it now serves overpriced small portions of fresh fish served lukewarm. I think that the fish is now precooked because they are so busy. One lobster topped Mahi dish had a microscopic piece of lobster on top but it was delicious served with the cold uninspired rice and cold undercooked broccoli. What a joke. The service was not the best, our server actually told us that he had used the wrong card for our split bill because he was busy talking! Really?! I remember having a wonderful piece of parmesan crusted A'u years ago served with hot rice and delicious veggies... should have kept the memory and not dined here again. Also, they took away the Mai tai from their happy hour menu but you can still enjoy an overpriced $12 one any time of day! There are wonderful happy hours all over Lahaina even though they stop at 5 or 6 pm they are so worth it.
I can not recommend this place anymore, but it will forever be busy with tourists who think that this is a place to be. We found our best fresh deals in places where the locals go. We hope that more people will be adventurous and do the same.
I have been dining at Kimo’s for decades. It’s always consistent, good food, service, etc. Evan was our waiter and he was outstanding. Be sure to save room for the Hula Pie! I had the calamari appetizer, Caesar salad, teriyaki sirloin with garlic mashed potatoes. My wife had the macadamia crusted ahi. All great! We will definitely be back.
3 of our foursome had the chefs special 3 course with steak and shrimp. 2 ordered the chowder as a first course. Both came out lukewarm. 2 people sent their steaks back, also almost cold. One sent their steak back a second time, still not right and still cold (1 person just ate it even though it was still not right). The third time was a charm and came out better. The steaks are thin and apparently difficult to cook as requested. Very small portions on the 3 course dinner. Very disappointed 😔. Service was okay, not great.
Kimo’s is a must when we visit Maui. Actually it’s become a tradition! From the food, the amazing view of the ocean and the island of Lanai to the amazing service, Kimo’s has never disappointed. Try the sweet potato and Brussels sprout hash (sounds strange but it melts in your mouth) as well as Parmesan crusted catch of the day (I’ve had both Ono and Mahi Mahi). Prices are also on the reasonable side (well, as reasonable as prices can get in Maui). We are already looking forward to our next visit!
This was recommended by a friend and I am so glad I made a reservation! We came to celebrate our anniversary. The view and sunset was gorgeous. The food and drinks were fantastic. I got the tofu and my husband got the fresh catch with lobster top (mahi mahi). Staff was friendly. I highly recommend making a reservation and aiming for about a half hour or more before sunset to appreciate the view! Also, get the hula pie!
heard about Kimo's for years whenever on Maui
Decided to take a couple of friends for dinner and finally tried Kimo's
Great evening, food and service. Thought they were not as expensive as expected and deserved based on other top end Maui restaurants.
Will return and also recommend to friends
