Kimi's Chop & Oyster House
What isn't new about this restaurant concept is local restaurateur, Kimi Eklund and her long time Chef, Matt Anderson. With superior quality restaurants under their belts, "Absolute! Restaurant, Dijon Bistro Provencal and Kimi's Mountainside Bistro" this new culinary delight is their best hit ever!
Warm, glowing fire pits welcome their guests as they walk up to the front of the restaurant. Entering the Oyster Bar the stage turns elegant and chic, welcoming you to the most delightful ambiance to devour your chops & oysters!
Fantastic ambiance and food was on point!! We loved it and will continue to come back! Thanks Kimi!!
Great service- our group was very we’ll attended to and the menu selections were great. The appetizers including oysters were very good. Our group of eight was more than satisfied- we highly recommend Kimi’s.
Memorable Thanksgiving meal. Kimi has the room looking spectacular for the holidays. One of our local fine dinning gems. Romantic; delicious!
Wife ordered the surf and turf which was to die for. 5 year old son ordered the coconut balls which we enjoyed as well. I ordered the turkey special which was delectable. Wife ordered 3 oysters which in turn she wished she ordered more. Highly recommend this establishment for a special night out. We will be returning as we live in the Sugarhouse area.
We held a customer lunch at Kimi's and it could not of worked out better, the service, food, and ambience made the customer feel important and appreciated the lunch.
Amazing food and very polite staff who were friendly and helpful with the menu. Will def be coming back
Service, drinks, and food was excellent. Oysters weren’t amazing, but to be somewhat expected in UT - decor and ambience was nice if not slightly out dated. Bartender was great!
Kimi was lovely. The staff and food were perfect. This is a wonderful venue for a special occasion. And free parking to boot!
Loved it. Service and food were excellent! Kimi was clearly highly engaged and making sure all was well!
We had a Saturday 5 PM reservation prompted by a gift card from the Hogle Zoo auction but came at 4 PM after our meeting ended early. A bit quiet as most guests do not arrive until about 6-8 pm. Food is not served until 5 PM but there is a great selection of appetizers. We chose the cheese fondue (haven't had fondue in years) with Brussel sprouts, peppers and bread along with a couple of drinks. Tasted outstanding. At 5 we moved into the dining room for dinner and ordered seared tuna and the halibut special. Again both delicious. Service was prompt and attentive and we had a great conversation with JB, our waiter. Finally, we had to leave as we had eaten all the food, but will definitely be back. Parking is conveniently just outside the restaurant.
It always is discouraging to see the mark up on wine, makes it hard to buy a bottle when it's marked up over 100%. But everything else was lovely.
My husband and I enjoyed a date night at Kimi's. We chose to dine at the bar and the bartender, Kenn, was fantastic. He's a great bartender, but knows the menu well and made great recommendations.
Beautiful space, atrocious food. The menu sounds wonderful but the food was just no good. Portions were large, service was fine but we couldn’t finish any dish. It all tasted horrible. All on the cook, weird herds, bad combinations, heavy, just weird.
I almost never write bad reviews. I normally want to support the many restaurants I’m privileged to visit. Here I am simply perplexed. How could all the food taste that bad. I feel a responsibility to at least post this warning. I’m sorry to do it.
If you do go start small with one dish and a drink. You’ll know what to do from there.
Enjoyed another great dinner at Kimi's with a friend. We shared appetizers-clams, fondue, calamari and wedge salad. I love that they split the salad on two plates. The tables are well spaced and the noise level made it easy to talk.
Good was delicious and service was prompt and lovely. It was very quiet, not a busy night. I hope this business stays in Sugarhouse!!
It is always one of our favorite places. Excellent food, excellent ambiance.
The food was great and the Mixologist makes the best Old Fashion in Salt Lake!
Fantastic! Highly recommend server Michelle and her hilarious personality! Best oysters in Utah!
What a Great evening, my girl friend has said we need to go back at least once a day since we ate here. Very enjoyable from the moment we walked in.
We went to Kimi’s ‘s for our anniversary dinner after Reading reviews. We were not disappointed! We loved the atmosphere, our service was great, and the food was delicious we will definitely be going back!
Absolutely love this place - the only complaint was that the weather was not nice enough to sit on the patio ;)
One of my new favorites when I come into town! Kimi was so sweet! She has done an amazing job!!!
Kimi’s always has great food and outstanding service. My favorite SLC restaurant.
Absolutely amazing!! Kimi knows how to make things perfect!
Kimi's was a fantastic experience. My girlfriend and I were seated next to each other on a very comfortable love seat at a large table perfect for a romantic dinner. We started with a delicious fish and bread plate and cocktails, and then had a pork chop and salmon for the main course. Our server did a great job of timing our courses and keeping our drinks full.
BY FAR THE BEST FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE IN UTAH!
Brought my Mom here for her birthday. Wonderful food and service. Cozy seating made it easy to chat. Will definitely be recommending Kimi's to friends!
Excellent service and delicious food! The fondue was amazing. Our first visit and will definitely be back!
Wonderful service and good food.
We had a delicious meal. Erica was appropriately attentive, she checked in on us at just the right time. It was calm and quiet at the time of our reservation.
We love going to Kimis!! It’s a great space in a trendy part of SLC! Love the food and the service! Our favorite place to take guests!
What a delightful venue for a romantic night out! We sat on a soft shade couch with soft light coming in through the window. Our food was exquisite and the service was amazing. Can't go wrong with this restaurant. Worth the price!
It was great
Top notch service (thank you dimitri)
This is an absolute gem in sugarhouse. Can’t wait to come
Excellent as always
Wonderful service and the food was excellent!
Amazing food and great service. I highly recommend.
DISAPPOINTING! Will not be back! Clicked on Eventbrite advertised as Bourbon & Jazz. Pre paid at 50 dollars each. Arrived to restaurant, waiter really was not informed and did not know too much about the event. He was unskilled in fine dining as well. He stated he had no menu to offer us for viewing Bourbon selection as well as there are no food pairings as well. At that point we should have asked for a reversal to our credit card and left since there were no advance preparations. However, we decided to give it a try. Upon 3rd time asking waiter for options for Bourbon which were scribbled on a piece of paper, he hastily finally opted to let my husband snap a pic of options. He was also not sure of each of their prices. He spoke too fast, walked fast and hopped over a few chairs. This was anything but RELAXING! It was as if you were at morning rush counter behind McDonald's. We ordered baked brie as appetizer. It arrived as a 1-1/2 in square of rind covered up with sprouts including several slices of dry stale bread. Naturally we sent it back and opted for fondue. It was good but at the end of the plate there was the same bread as before only cut up to bite size pieces. Then ordered a berry salad and salmon entree. Berry salad, overdressed with sour vinaigrette and fruit soggy. Entree included shrimp, which were slightly over cooked which makes shrimp rubbery. Salmon slightly overcooked as well. Jazz music was good, if you call a person singing into a harsh environment with zero acoustics. Every wall is surrounded with oversized paintings which do not create any ambiance. Table size awkward and gray chairs are wore out. Foam is shot! Kimi or whoever went around and pulled up a chair and sat with a few guests while blocking navigation for waiters around tables. Overall super disappointing. Do not wast your time at a loud, clanky, uncomfortable, unprofessional, restaurant.
Rosemary Dodds, I would like to inform you that as owner of Kimi's I have the right to offer or deny service to any person I deem unfitting of joining me at Kimi's. You may voice your opinion about how you viewed your dining experience; it's disappointing that you didn't mention it to me when I visited your table. The PRIVATE comments you left me on OT express bigotry which I will NOT tolerate from anyone! I believe in freedom of expression and identity, I LOVE LGTBQ! You're unwelcome at Kimi's!
First time to sit at the bar and have a lite dinner and drinks (we have always sat at a table). It was great fun talking to the bar tender. The food is always great every time we have gone there and this was no exception.
Amazing place but on the pricier side, however that's to be expected with such high quality food service and ambiance. The live music band was a nice touch! We'll be back for sure!
