We love Kimi's!!!
The service is beyond outstanding!!!!
We are Salt Lake residents that frequently dine at area restaurants, and all five of us were extremely pleased with our experience at Kimi's. The ambience is unique for Salt Lake and since we were a party of five adults, we enjoyed the bar-designated (kid-free) dining room. The cocktails and oysters were terrific. Our party had scallops, fried chicken and tuna, and each of us found our meal to be delicious and perfectly prepared. This was a special occasion so we didn't mind the bill, which was hefty but worth it.
We have been to Kimi's several times. The food is outstanding, the service is outstanding , the place is outstanding. Need we say more!
Always great food and excellent service! It is a great spot for celebrating special occasions! Ambience is so unexpected for Utah!
One word! AMAZING! Just like Kimi!
The Beet carpaccio was well-prepared and plated. It was also flavorful. This was not the case with the portobello mushroom or pasta fra Diavolo dishes. The mushrooms were overcooked and the pasta was flavorless. I salted it twice and asked for some olive oil to give it some body, but that only made it eatable. Tim, our server was awesome. The water runner was utterly unavailable. Tim picked up the slack, but it got to be a bit much by the end of the meal. The wine list is well-selected and fairly priced. We had a tasty Nebbiolo d' Alba. The space is quiet enough and well appointed, but the food just isn't that good.
I think it’s great we have fine dining in SugarHouse. However, for the price (including $42 for the special - fish and chips) I would expect and have had better service and better food. The food was rich and greasy - so much so that I had uncharechyeristic heartburn.
Again - love having fine dining. But for the price, everything should be a level or two higher.
The food was exquisite. We started with Blue Crab lettuce wraps which were a lovely beginning to the meal. Some bread with hummus was also provided, but neither of us are eating a lot of carbs. It did look great, though.
We both got the same dinner entree. It was a sea scallop dish with Brussels sprouts and whipped mash potato. I abstained, but my date said the potatoes were creamy, rich, and properly salted. The scallops were perfectly cooked, tasted fresh, and melted in my mouth. So good.
Ambiance is a bit odd, there are parts that are casual seeming and parts that are more formal seating, but overall it is a very interesting space to eat in and I liked it a lot. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.
The only minor quibble is the price. I think it is a bit overpriced. Delicious, but not $19 appetizer, and $40 entree delicious. Perhaps if there were other bonuses provided I would say yes, but this was pretty basic as far as all of that goes.
I would return once I save up the money.
Overall we loved this restaurant. The food was amazing, the atmosphere great and though it's a bit pricey we felt it was worth the money. The only hickup to the evening was the server couldn't split our check to accommodate how we wanted to pay. She had to split it 4 ways which left us to make up the difference amongst ourselves. Definitely not something we expected at this type of high end establishment.
Our waiter TIM was fantastic and really added to an enjoyable evening.
Everything at the restaurant was amazing. There was a party that came in after we were there that was loud and uncouth. Jeremy did a fantastic job for us. The filet special was outstanding. I would definitely dine there again!
It was nothing special. The appetizer was bland and meal just oK
Amazing for parents and family. A must go!
I will ALWAYS support Kimi's. Not only is the food amazing, the service professional/friendly/timely, but Kimi herself embodies the definition of "good hostess." She is warm and welcoming and this attitude spreads throughout the organization. I love Kimi's and simply do not get to go often enough!!
This visit, I had a delicious halibut dinner. My son had the mac and cheese with shrimp and bacon. We shared a fabulous bottle of premier cru chablis and a lovely dessert. All fantastic!
Food was amazingly innovative. Kimi was present herself which demonstrates her passion for this business and it clearly showed through in the food and service. Have been there before with my wife and then came back with a group from my work. Will be back.
Great food and great service. I look forward to my next cocktail hour/dinner at Kimi's.
The food was very disappointing for the price and ambiance. The service was also a bit disjointed, as only one server was responsible for all the tables being served during lunch
Amazing food and great atmosphere. Perfect place for a date night.
We had a very enjoyable evening. The food was superb and the waitstaff even better. Could night have asked for a more completely wonderful dining experience.
Great food, excellent service, calming decor.
Unique restaurant - interesting interior, nice lounge space and real bar. Food portions are large but good quality. On the pricey end, but worth it.
Waiting area is cold and unwelcoming. It would have been nice to have the option of waiting in the bar with a drink - it wasn’t busy.
Went there for my birthday and had an excellent time with my childhood friend. She had the scallops and I had the fillet with crab. Both were phenomenal!
We had a reservation and have been to Kimi's several times, My usual complaint is always their slow service but this time was extra slow. We had a reservation and were seated very fast. Once we sat down we waited 10min to get water and a server, I said I wasn't sure what alcohol drink I wanted but my husband ordered a lemonade, We waited an additional 10min for him to come and ask if I had decided on a drink, at this point we had been sitting there for 20min with nothing but water, I told the waiter we had jazz tickets and needed to hurry, We had arrived at 6:45 and left at 8:15, 15 min after our game started. The service was slow, there was a private party in the restaurant so there was NO music on, usually Kimi plays weird music for how sexy and cool her restaurant is but this time it was so boring all we could hear was the people in the private party laughing and talking. Kimi's has such good food and a cool ambience, I really hope she can get it together with her staff and figure out that she needs cool sexy music not 80's,90's or no music to fit her vibe of her restaurant.
The food is outstanding, as delicious as the restaurant is beautiful. Kimi’s is a wonderful host. Best restaurant in Salt Lake.
I believe Kimi lives at the restaurant. Her dogs barked for two hours in the upstairs bedroom, until she finally came up and took them for a walk. The food was good, but overpriced. Kimi didn't schedule enough servers, and our server had way too much going on. We waited 10 mins for a greeting, 20 mins for wine, 40 for apps, and almost an hour and a half for entries. As a comparison, we were at Market Street Oyster Bar two nights before, spent half as much, had much better food, and timely service. We eat out a lot and we've worked in restaurants, so we know what we're talking about. And I almost never post reviews, but this had to be shared.
That said.... I had the best dinner guests a guy could ask for, and would gladly spend time with you guys anywhere anytime.
A unique and beautiful atmosphere! Kimi and the staff are exceptional and accommodating in every way; and the food is simply amazing. A one of a kind experience in the sat lake area for sure!
We had heard a commercial on the radio for Kimi’s Chop and Oyster house and figured why not try it out. The food was delicious. Our waiter was awesome and very tentative to our request. We will definitely be back!
A fantastic experience from start to finish. Everything was very prompt, even thought we tend to be just fine with a very relaxed pace. We just ordered a number of tapas selections and we absolutely thrilled at every single one of them. Plating was gorgeous, food was fresh and expertly prepared. I fell in love with the Sugarhouse 75 and will certainly order this again. This is a venue for an elegant night out and you should plan to spend time there and just savor the experience. The decor is absolutely stunning! We will definitely return when we have another special occasion or just want to really treat ourselves out. This is high end food at a premium, which we were just fine paying based on the value we received. LOVELY!!!
Really enjoyed it
The oysters were spot on, will definitely order again. The filet - mouth watering. Drinks= superb. However, the halibut was sadly overcooked with an oversalted sauce, as well, the smögen toast, while delicious, tasted like a tuna fish dish one could make at home. Overal an experience that satisfied, will return to try the many more scrumptious sounding options on the menu.
Sorry, Kimi's is now off our list. Rude front person who treated us like trash because we had some under 21 in our group. To eat, we had to be led outside and around the back, up a staircase where somewhere a dog was whining. The entrees have gone up in price since we were last there, have gotten smaller, and have not improved in taste. In fact, the Ahi tuna is a disaster: gummy with no flavor. Here's a main point: IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE! And with the expense, you would think the waiter would ask us how the food was since two plates were hardly touched. I think members of our group were stunned by the whole experience. In short, it is just not worth the money. If you want to pay these prices, go to Ruth Chris. Avoid Fleming's and this place at all cost!
We have a big issue because we have a kid with us but Kiimi the owner figured out a solution and after all it was a awesome night
Food is good. A bit pricey for the ambience. Nice for special occasions.
The service and ambience were very good. Some of the things we got were mediocre. The caprese salad was 2 huge tomatoes cut in half with a small slice of mozzarella and a sprinkling of olive oil. Very bland and uninteresting. The halibut was good.
A disappointing way to spend Valentines Day. We made reservations and still had to wait 15 Minutes to be seated. The food was way over priced for what you get. I had the buttermilk fried chicken and it was very dry. My husband ordered the Mac and cheese with jalapeño bacon. It did not taste like jalapeño and the red and yellow bell peppers made the dish sweet. We waited for what seemed like an eternity for our meal to arrive. The restaurant want full, only 2 people at each table so not sure why it took so long.
I had heard and read great things about Kimi’s which is why we went there. We won’t be returning.
This is the second time I have dined at Kimi's. Both times have been a positive experience. This last time I had to wait for a bit to be seated, even though I had made reservations and it didn't seem very busy. But, once seated, the service was stellar and it's a great place. I will continue to go there often.
Loved this place! This was our first time at this restaurant and we would highly recommend it. The interior/ decorating is very cool. Modern, hip, luxurious. Food was absolutely amazing. Great cocktail/ wine list. Fabulous location. We are HUGE foodies and I would choose this place over any of the super high end SLC restaurants. (won't name them but I'm sure you know what I'm referring to....)
The entrees were fantastic, but the desserts were definitely not worth it. They seemed like something you’d make in seventh grade home ec.
The food was not the money and was not very memorable. We had the crab cakes and swedish meatballs to start, but both tasted like frozen heated dishes. We both had two different salmon dishes and they were okay. Service was not great and the servers were talking crap about each other to us.
