The food was amazing. The service was extremely slow and spotty
Wonderful dining experience! Our server, Kyle, was very attentive even though he was busy with a full restaurant last evening. Beautiful views, delicious food and a fantastic experience! Tomato & barrata salad was divine, as were our main entrees. We will be back in future vacations at OBX!!
Our server Kyle was amazing. Incredible food. Awesome sunset. Great experience!
Great service great food!
Terrific experience all around! Food, service, and ambiance were all outstanding.
Has not maintained the same level of overall quality since its days as the Left Bank. Food was ok, not great and service was similar. Hostess disregarded a reservation seating request made over 5 months ago and sat us at the worst table in the dining room.
Disappointing that this dining option has not consistently filled the need for an upscale dining option in Duck/Sanderling since the legendary Elizabeth’s closed years ago. As the Sanderling Resort’s signature restaurant, this should be a better experience.
Excellent service. Excellent food. Convenient for our stay at Sanderling Inn
Unfortunately the quality of the experience at Kimball’s Kitchen is declining. On a recent visit our table of four, was served incorrect drinks, the food was served cold and the table was surrounded by fly’s.
After annually coming for 10 years, I’m not sure our group will returning.
Everything was very good. I thought the steak was high quality but a bit over salted. Sides were good, especially the asparagus which was simply prepared and very fresh.
We were on vacation with family in OBX. It was our date night out away from the family and worth every penny. The view of the sound was brilliant, service was quick, impeccable and the staff overall were beyond friendly. Most of all dinner was an incredible culinary experience. The complimentary amuse bouche was perfect and the most amazing start to our experience. Each course was a magical moment that we will never forget. Thank you Kimball's for the perfect dinner!!!! We would absolutely come back when in OBX next.
Was a wonderful experience
The food and ambiance was very good to outstanding although, unfortunately, we did not experience good service with our waiter. He took forever to get us water and wine. He also failed to clean our table, leaving mushrooms on our table while we had our dinner drinks. Needless to say, it was not very appetizing staring at leftovers on the table while having a nightcap. Lastly, he was the least friendly waiter we ever had at Kimball's.
A Wednesday summer night, restaurant busy but not over crowded. Food was very good (steaks and seafood) but service was slow. Had to remind server about ordered items. Restaurant has an open kitchen, usually fine (we’ve eaten here a number of times in the past) , but this night was so cloudy with smoke that staff was commenting about it. We were happy not to be sitting in the back of the restaurant! The ambiance of the restaurant and its beautiful bay and sunset views suggest a romantic and intimate venue, however the high noise level diminishes that effect. We will still go back for the food and sunsets!
Sommelier was very helpful and friendly.
We had flies swarming our table throughout dinner
One of our favorite vacation eating spots!
Was a super dinner food was great and Robert our server was fantastic
Had to wait 20 minutes after being seated to be waited on for drinks and to hear the specials. Our server didn’t stop by once our drinks were empty to ask if we wanted anything else, I had to stop them after they walked by 3 times to ask for a another drink.
It was pricy for the quality of service received.
The wine was incredible snd the service was awesome the food was so tasty would definitely love to come back
Dinner food was great and cooked perfectly. Great location. Service was good but a little slow. It is expensive. Wine selection is great for OBX. Overall this was perfect for our 38th anniversary dinner. The staff was very gracious and friendly.
Had an 8:00 reservation. Seated us at 8:30. Entrees were served at 9:50. Not worth the time. Won’t be going back.
Quite possibly the best overall experience and meal I have ever had. It was a business meeting dinner. All were very impressed. From the delightful hostess (a twin!), to the service by Paul our waiter, to the meeting of the new chef who came to our table himself, we were overwhelmed with the greatness of the staff. The food was truly a treat and absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We especially loved the cheese platter and even bought some locally made honey on our way out.
This return visit to Kimball's Kitchen was wonderful! I have nothing but accolades about the service, menu selection, food quality and presentation. The room itself is stunning, as is the view of the Sound. I only wish Kimball's were closer to where we lived so we could be frequent guests! Thanks Kaitlyn, Robert, Dino and the Chef for making our evening so special. We are already looking forward to our return to what we consider the gem of the Outer Banks!
Not what it used to be, sadly. The view of the Sound, which set the restaurant apart from others, is almost completely obstructed by over grown shrubs. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was not as locally sourced and creative as it used to be. Overall a pleasant experience but probably not worth the high price tag.
Menu had lots of options for various palettes. Appetizer serving sizes were large. Waiter was very knowledgeable and accommodating to dietary requests.
This was our wedding anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate. The food was excellent, with the filets possibly the best we have ever enjoyed. The chocolate bomb dessert drew the highest praise from my wife, a chocaholic. Our waiter, Kyle was extremely efficient and friendly. The only drawback was a table of about eight who were noisily enjoying themselves, which made conversation difficult. We will go back to Kimball's the next time we are at the Outer Banks.
Everything was great! Filet Mignon is the best anywhere around! Don’t change a thing! My only recommendation is please keep the bushes trimmed down in front of the soundside windows so guests can enjoy the beautiful sunsets while dining! We were seated right next to the window but a tall bush blocked our sunset view and that’s one of the things we love about your restaurant, enjoying the beautiful view from all those windows!
Would also recommend opening for dinner on Sundays so guests staying at The Sanderling through the weekend could have that dinner option across the street. (The Paper Canoe is also closed on Sun)
Spectacular Waygu Tomahawk. Great bartender. Perfect Views. Waiter was funny and engaging.
The food was unbelievable! We had the spadefish and steak and they were incredible.
Great food again, never disappointed! Service was off and slow as I think our waiter was new.
The service was outstanding. Our server, Sara, made sure we had everything we needed before we even knew we needed it.
First time going and it was amazing. The food was great as was the service. It is a higher end restaurant, but well worth the price.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Kimball's - great food and wonderful cocktails. A picky negative was the unironed tablecloth. Press them or choose a different fabric.
Excellent food and service with a great view. The Sanderling was a great find for us all the way around!
The Food and Service are top notch! This a must try!
Excellent food and service. Great view. We will visit again.
Great experience wonderful service and great view. Exceptional food!
Expensive doesn't bother me but for these prices expect better service. Would not make tartar without raw onion and would not split a pasta dish - came in a beautiful bowl but we were given two small bread plates to eat off of. Great fois gras dish but pasta also came out cold. Could tell it would have been great warm and not bad cold. They were apologetic but did/offered nothing to resolve. Was charged 105 for and listed 85 bottle of wine. I checked wine list on way out and they did fix. Took a while waiting to leave but I think they had to rerun and may have had an issue. If I felt the service issue were resolved, I'd definitely go back.
Poor food quality. Poor service.
We had an awesome experience. Lyndsay was great. The food was spot on. The atmosphere was great. We always make a stop here each time we come to the OBX.
