Food is fine, but the room is totally no-fun. It is basically a cramped corridor with some ungracious seating crammed in there. Extremely ungracious. If you are a single, furthermore, you won't even get a table but will have to sit at the bar, even though you've made a reservation. Sorry folks, one of the main reasons for going out to a restaurant is that the atmosphere ought to be uplifting/cheery/gracious, etc. etc. If you don't get that, you may as well pop a frozen meal into your oven. While the food is okay, it's not anywhere near so great as to make it worthwhile to go to an unpleasant hole-in-the wall. And it of course a full service hole-in-the-wall, so it's not like you're eating $5 tacos at a Mexican quick-food hole-in-the-wall. The economics don't add up: it's not a good deal to pay full-service restaurant prices, when the place is just no fun.
Very pleasant atmosphere and great food and wine. We had the nice table right next to the open canopy to the streets.
Wonderful midtown gem! The food and wine were fabulous and atmosphere is perfection.
It works even on the same day.
Kilo always delivers outstanding food and wine. Kudos to the wonderful Chef, LJ's amazing wine selections and Jake's awesome service.
This place is so charming and has great music and overall vibe. I thought the food would be better given the reviews. It was tasty but I wasn't wowed. Chips with the whitefish were not soft, not crispy. Asparagus did not taste very special to me. Mussels were probably the best dish we ordered. I would go again however due to overall factors and wanting to give it a second try.
Amazing, one of my favorites in this neighborhood. Incredible, interesting wine selection, super helpful and engaging staff to help suggest glasses to try, and the tapas are always delicious to match.
This is possibly the best restaurant in Hell's Kitchen. My husband and I go every few weeks and we've never had a dish that isn't absolutely incredible. The menu changes daily so everything is fresh and innovative. Definitely a must-visit if you're in the area.
Quick, laid back ambiance, tasty food, simple and great spot to relax and have an easy going dining experience.
Would go back!
Decided to try this place out after searching for somewhere new to eat in the neighborhood. After many amazing reviews and photos we decided to just give it a go! Best decision ever. I’d recommend doing two or three small plates and then splitting a large plate if it’s two people going.
They’re always just so gracious here. Fantastic suggestions on pairings from their extensive wine list. It’s in rotation as one of our regular places.
Everything was absolutely above bar. It was an extremely enjoyable experience. I felt taken care of and the food was delicious. Also, and this is rarely said, the food portions were perfect.
Food was so delicious and seasonally-appropriate. Wine is superb, especially since most of them are organic/biodynamic! The people who work there are fun and always play excellent music!
Fabulous wine bar with a great seasonal selection. Tapas are good, but could be amazing. Excellent service and great environment.
Fantastic experience, every time.
Absolutely love their burger and Brussel sprouts. Also like how they give you wine recommendations per your taste.
Excellent dining experience. Loved the wine recommendations, and had probably my favorite burger in NYC. Will definitely return!
Kilo is great fun. A well-curated wine list served by ebullient servers. The food is a bit of an afterthought but it's still a great place to hang out.
This is such a great place tucked away on 9th avenue with really tasty, flavorful plates. Servers are knowledgeable and personable. Also definitely a wine place as well to pair with your tasty plates!
We ate here early before the theater. Restaurant is small and charming. Noise factor was low, which is a plus for anyone trying to have a conversation. The best part was the food -- the burger was perhaps one of the best I've ever had, the cauliflower was perfect and the pork tacos also delicious.
Highly recommend this place, can't wait to come back!
The food is delicious and comes out quickly! It’s an easy place to go before seeing a show- just make sure you have reservation. The baked brie is a must order; don’t just save it for dessert!
We were lucky enough to snag the one 2-person table that was at the window, thus we essentially got to sit “al fresco,” which was amaaaaazing to do on such a beautiful day. The food is delicious and creatively crafted. Pricing and service is good, and you can try a bunch of menu items since its tapas style.
Best burger in nyc
We had reservations almost 2 weeks in advance, but this doesn't mean anything. When we arrived, the only seating available was at the bar because the tables were given on a first come first serve basis even though my friend and I were still a few minutes early to our reservation. Then when I asked for a table for our reservation, the bartender/manager said it was on a first come first serve basis (basically our reservation didn't matter.) The food was strange, not a lot of options, not a large enough portion, and not good tasting. The ambiance seemed pleasant, but the rude service ruined a lot of the evening. I would not recommend this place to anyone--there are plenty of other great options in NYC!
Very decent and creative small plates with good portion sizes. Drink prices should be updated on OpenTable as wines by the glass were priced $3-$5 more than what is listed. They seat every chair in the restaurant through reservations, including the bar, so you are not guaranteed a table. This was odd but fine for us, but seemed to be an unpleasant surprise for a less mobile older patron who arrived after us. Service—at least at the bar—was pretty indifferent. We had one wrong item served that had to be replaced, resulting in a long wait between our first two and second two plates. No one ever checked in to ask how our food was or if we needed anything. The two guys running front of house seemed more interested in bro-omg around together than serving the guests. All that said, I would give it another try, hopefully with table seating. The food and wine were both good.
What a pleasant surprise. I loved my first visit. I really appreciate the unique wine selection and the vibe of Kilo. Can’t say enough good things.
Excellent small plates. Very friendly, was very crowded by 6:30 pm on a Wednesday evening. Small menu, but has flavor to spare. Salad was VG. Mushroom tacos were so rich. The duck confit was great, with remarkable coleslaw. The fingerling potatoes with duck fat and more were super hot and delicious. Wines were paired to the dishes. All was good, no rush,
We were traveling for work and needed an easy place for dinner near our hotel. We found Kilo and it was exactly what we needed after a long day! The service was great, the music was super fun and the food was incredible!
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC!!!
Great, food, wine and service!
Really loved Kilo. It is a simple small (narrow) restaurant wine and beer only which serves small (sharing) plates of really good food.We had the cauliflower, brussels sprouts, burata (served as it should be room temp) and the burger delicious. The two person wait/bar staff were great friendly and helpful. Highly recccomend as an excellent simple restaurant (NOT "fine" dining)
Loved everything about kilo. The owner Brett was lovely.
The mushroom taco was a rare treat. My companion had the duck was also excellent.
Awesome staff, great wine and food. Great vibe in general
My reservation wasn’t honored, I think because my date who had arrived first said we weren’t eating. The host was incredibly rude and threatened to not check me in even though I was standing in front of him. 100% will not be back, will not recommend to all my friends in the neighborhood (I live and work a few blocks from kilo). There are so many great bars and restaurants in this neighborhood that you do not need to put up with rude service, plus $17 for a small pour of wine, horrible
Cute place, but small. Warm and hip host. I was the first to arrive, and was refused seating until all members of my party arrived; host pressured every few minutes to give the status of my remaining party (who was no more than 2 min late). Fast service. Most dishes deliciously savory, but portions were tiny. Because of the demand for tables on a Friday evening, we were (albeit graciously) requested to vacate our table for the next diners. Sharing dishes is the best way to go. Our favorites included pork tacos and duck.
Been here before and will return again - love this place!
Great food. Tight space. Friendly. Second visit was good. I am sure I will be back.
The food is very good, but the portion is small. The venue is very small. We have a party of 6 and we have to cram in a small table in the corner of the restaurant, which is probably the only table which can accommodate more than 4 people. I would only recommend if you are going with 1/2 friends and looking for something very casual.
Always a pleasure eating at Kilo
