VERY loud! WAY too loud for a business meeting. Had headache by the time we left.
Food was great as always, service - James was outstanding as always.
Just too loud to do business.
This is the second attempt at Killen's, the first in the old 'shed' and now in the newer surroundings which is basically a re-modeled former restaurant. Surely a new restaurant would have been a better option rather than taking the cheaper, compromised option? On entering the door the lighting is too high for a romantic dinner, the tables all lined up in the pit and diners in anything from smart casual to flip flops, shorts and t-shirts. If there is a dress code it is not enforced.
Cocktails at the bar consisted of weak gin & tonics and inattentive bar staff who turned his attention to a fellow diner and disappeared from the area to attend to him before returning without an apology for the delay.
Dinner was what we came for and generally good but not exceptional, partly due to the two items we had selected not being available - shouldn't we be told that with the menu and shouldn't they ensure adequate supplies to have everything available? Killen's did not have anything we couldn't get in several other restaurants in Houston, but we live in Pearland, Killen's is in Pearland and we felt we should try it. We will probably travel further next time and get what we come out for.
High expectations with low returns.
I have dinned at several upscale steak houses throughout the state; Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi. This was the best, even though is was a little noisy. I will definitely return someday.
Service was great and so was the food. Dry aged ribeye was spectacular
Killen's is the best steak house in the Houston area and likely in Texas. The owner is a local who trained as a codon bleu chef in France and returned. The meats are extraordinary and cooked exactly as ordered. the sides are special. The potatoes au gratin are wonderful, and his French Onion soup alone is worth the drive. It is a bit pricey, so you have to pick your spots to enjoy this gem unless you are independently wealthy.
Service was great as always, sides were great and the whiskey nuts and bolts was great like always. This time I tried a New York strip and was t impressed, it wasn't the wagyu but still a little tough for my liking.
James was our waiter, he was very knowledgeable about Killen's Steakhouse and their other restaurants. For appetizers we had Crab Cake and Campechana. We had wedge and spinach salads . We had Chicken Fried Steak, Beef Wellington (special), Snapper and wet aged Filet Mignon for our appetizers. And we had brownie with ice cream and three different types of their homemade ice cream.
We frequent steakhouses all over Houston. Everything we had was very good, there were no complaints. We agreed that Killen's was probably the best food and value of all the steakhouses we have visited (I can't name them here but we have been to most in the Woodlands and Galleria areas). We live in Humble and we would drive to Pearland again to eat here.
We got in the car and made reservation for Killen's STQ after James described the menu to us. Don't miss Killen's!
Party of 9 reserved on open table. Arrived early and seated on time. server was detailed on specials and service. Wine selection is long and they have everything you could think of. The steaks were perfectly done, fish was so so and jumbo fried shrimp was great. Sides are all good Cream Corn, Mac n cheese with crayfish and asparagus. For this occasion they provided us with plates and silverware for birthday cake.
Service was excellent and the food delightful. This was definitely a great place to celebrate our 15th Anniversary.
Good overall... We ordered 'off the menu" and the steaks were very good but pricey. If we go again we'll watch the pricing / bang for the buck.
One of the Killen’s restaurants is generally a part of our family celebrations and this time was our anniversary. We were greeted warmly and seated right away.
Resturant was extremely noisy for Thursday night. Background music and noise so loud it was hard to have a conversation at the table. The food was good but a little over priced for the value.
Great service and amazing food
Great food as always. Bar had some birthday party that was very noisy but food still shined.
Really enjoyed the experience.
We have been wanting to visit here for years. We ordered a $95 and $75 steaks and they were not good. My husband didn't get one bite that he could chew all the way through and swallow. Lots of gristle. My filet was OK...I have had much better.
On the plus side I would go back for the fried Asparagus and their bread ( I know..crazy huh). The service was amazing.
After all of the talk about Killen's we were very much disappointed to say the least. The steaks were too salty, overdone, and overpriced. They also brought our entrees out at different times. We asked for a round table to allow for conversation and they would not seat a party of 7 at a six top. We wrote an email to Killen's and have not received a reply. We will not be going back to Killen's again.
It was our son’s 21st anniversary , so it was very special to us . But they made it special for us too, from the server - very knowledgeable and friendly, to the exceptional tasty meal we had . I asked if they can make a small cake at the end and we were brought a huge carrot cake ( the best I had ) with his name and candles . Thank you for a wonderful evening ! We will definitely come back .
Awesome Kobe beef.
Outstanding! Service was great. Atmosphere was very nice without being too stuffy. Menu was good. My wife ordered the Chicken Parmesan and she loved it. My bone-in-ribeye was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Very, very nice. We will be back!
Top notch service. Food and drinks are awesome !!!!!
My husband took me there for my birthday dinner and it was amazing. The atmosphere was very romantic and the food was amazing!! Service was excellent always checked our drinks to make sure we were satisfied. We will definitely be back soon!
I have had the privilege to dine at most of Houston’s Top End Steakhouses, and Killen’s was better than all of them. Our waiter, James, was knowledgeable and friendly. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and I couldn’t have picked a better place to spend it. One of the better dining experiences I have ever had. I would recommend Killen’s to anyone, and we will certainly be back!!!
We celebrated a birthday on Friday night. Each appetizer and entree was exquisite and delicious. Very much recommend the food and service.
Super night. All of the food was amazing and Orin, our waiter, was top notch.
I can not think of a better overall experience in the last 10 years than our night at Killen's Steakhouse. We will be back without delay!
We celebrated our daughter’s 13th birthday. Everything was wonderful. The service, the ambiance and of course, the food. This is why we always celebrate special occasions here. They get it right every time and make it even more special. Can’t wait to go back and try the bar service on a date night.
The experience was flawless. I was able to spoil my parents who savored every bite.
Excellent service and excellent food. It’s quite noisy but they sat us on the raised area which was perfect. It was much quieter and we could see them preparing the food. It was my husband’s birthday and they wrote Happy Birthday on his cake plate and put a candle. It was a special evening!
Food was excellent as usual. The crab cake is phenomenal! Our service was a little slow this time. We never received our bread and had to request to have our water glasses filled (our appetizers had arrived by then.
Food was awesome as usual and having 2 waiters assigned to our table allowed them to anticipate all our needs. This was a very nice birthday celebration!
My steak had to be sent back because it was over cooked. My husband’s steak had a lot of fat throughout the steak, I would say at least 2 oz. of fat. Service was spotty and we had to ask for water and tea refills several times. The restaurant was loud and noisy. We will not go back because the cost is too high for what they are offering.
I was surprised to see people coming in wearing blue jeans and casual shirts. I didn't know you could, I guessed there was a dress code, but apparently there isn't one. There were quite a few families with very young kids that came in, running around near our table. In particular, a young girl not able to speak yet was set right next to our table, and yelled and screamed at the top of her lungs for an hour and a half. It completely ruined the night. I don't really see a need to return to Killen's. I can get a good steak at many other places where I am not paying so much, and would expect jean clad folks and babies to be present. The value is just not there for me. I was expecting nicely dressed adults on a Saturday night where that much money is spent...An experience. Something special, not a night out a Denny's. Our bill was almost $300 for the two of us, and that amount seems much to high for the quality of the evening.
Great food! Steaks outstanding!
Snapper with lump crab wonderful!
Creme brûlée to die for!
The food was great and the service was excellent! This was our first visit as we don't live in the area and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We arrived almost on hour before our reservation time and feared we would have to wait and therefore miss out on this dining experience, but Andrew was able to seat us immediately in his section. It all worked out and we were pleased.
We had been very excited to finally try Killen’s for my wife’s birthday. Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing evening with poor service and a variety of problems.
My son and I enjoy great steaks and once agin Killen’s delivered. I had the Wet aged Strip steak and it was excellent. The au gratin potato’s were also outstanding. Service was excellent as usual.
This was our first time to dine at Killen’s. The food was very good and the service was even better. Our waiter was very attentive and nice. Our tea and water glasses never got below half full. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant and it was very nice and quiet. My husband and I enjoyed our special dinner. It’s not a place we would go often because it is pricey, but certainly for special occasions. You pay for a great experience.
The waitor was great He suggested my drink which was great and the meal which was great.
I hadn't been to the restaurant in a few years and the building is much nicer than the previous building.
I really wanted to love this place - the food was good, but honestly not up to the level of the prices. I'd eat here again, so it wasn't bad - I just wasn't as impressed as I really wanted to be. The grilled Asparagus was good, and the lobster mac and cheese was tasty, but overall it was all just overpriced.
Excellent food--filet mignon, creamed spinach, and asparagus & lump crab meat. This latter dish was the best we have ever tasted! Surroundings were very attractive and the dining room allowed pleasant, normal conversation. From the valet parking lady to the receptionist to the wait staff, all were very attentive and competent. Our waiter was Andrew-personable, competent and professional. Andrew was outstanding! Overall we enjoyed our evening!
