Killen's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
The waiter was not very attentive for the high prices they have the service should have been impeccable!!! The perception from the waiter was that I don’t think he felt he would be tipped appropriately!!! It was my birthday and my experience was awful and my filet minion was so dry 😡
First of all a reservation was made and met by this establishment which sometimes isn't the case. Second the waiter Randy was on top of his game definitely want him to wait on us again tue next time we visit. And last but not least the food from the appetizers to the desert was absolutely amazing and the beer menu was unique to me but again Randy found me something that went well with my ney york strip.
We have made several trips to Killen's with all of them being better than the last. It is higher priced than most places and once it got packed the noise was there but not like a Joe's Crabshack or even an Olive Garden. Those might be the closest things to a gripe I could make. That being said, you do not go to this kind of place on a budget. It was worth every penny to me between the elevated level of service and world class food. Our steaks were cooked perfectly, seasoned beautifully and complimented by mouth watering sides. The place could stand alone as Killen's Carrot Cake Shoppe. Seriously, try the carrot cake. It can't be touched by anything else in Houston. Come hungry, bring your wallet and enjoy the experience.
Killen's is our go-to spot for special occasions, like birthdays, anniversaries or Christmas Eve. It's a 45-minute drive from our home, so it has to be really great to merit that effort - and it is! This is an expensive steakhouse, and the beef is worth every penny. It's butter tender, seasoned well and cooked perfectly to your order. Great steaks would be enough reason to come here, but the sides are dynamite too. Take the creamed corn (it has a jalapeno kick!), the creamed spinach, the broccoli and cheese. Don't get a baked potato - that's so yesterday and such a waste when fabulous sides are available! For dessert, the carrot cake is sublime. We like the bread pudding too. Great wine list, but an even better beer list - right now, try the seasonal Prairie Bomb, an Oklahoma craft brew that stands up to a good steak and shakes it's hand.
The service at Killen's was impeccable. Patrick and Larry (modern day Abe Lincoln) were great. The steaks were delicious, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The lobster macaroni & cheese was good, but wasn't great. It's flavor profile was somewhat monotonous, as if it was missing something that gave it that mmm mmm delish factor (such as a pungent cheese bite or slight hint of onion). Therefore, it wasn't worth the price. The brussel sprouts were good, as was the asparagus. I would definitely return for the steaks and asparagus. They get five stars by themselves. Hence, the overall five stars. The noise level could have been quieter. We were on a corner in the back room. Intimate enough for a special occasion, not super loud, but loud enough. Dress code is mixed. I saw jeans, jerseys, as well as business casual.
Great place. Steak this time was dry and overcooked. Waiter was helpful. They've changed the menu, and the options -- especially for steaks -- were more limited. Used to have grain-fed vs. grass-fed steak options.
As usual, took out a second mortgage to pay for the meal, but the experience was good.
First class in every way. Food was excellent. Server was very professional and knowledgeable as well as pleasant. Atmosphere was elegant yet comfortable. Meal can be very expensive but items are available that make it very reasonable for the overall quality.
Good experience. Atmosphere was nice, service was good, and food was delicious. The crab cakes and asparagus were fabulous. The Texas wagyu filet was cooked perfectly for my wife and I. Not cheap, but priced as expected. Will definitely go back. Best steak around from and experienced steak eater.
I had dinner with my friend's this past Saturday celebrating one of my guests birthday. Upon arrival, we were early for our reservation and seated immediately; impressive. As soon as our host seat us, we were greeted by Kristopher, our server; in which he was totally professional and ready to serve us. Throughout our dinner, he kept us comfortable and informative about our menu choices. Also, he was knowledgeable about our choices of food and wine. Thank you for making our dinner memorable. Santos.
I had high expectations for Killen's since I had dined at a restaurant in another city which served Allen Bros. steaks. Unfortunately, my wife and I thought the food and service were just average. Considering the restaurant was a long commute from our home, we don't plan on dining there again.
Killen's never disappoints! The steaks at Killen's cannot be beat, and I've never had one there that wasn't cooked to perfection and exactly as I ordered. The waitstaff are very helpful and friendly, without being intrusive - with both the wine and food. Our waiter suggested a great bottle of wine that didn't break the bank. I also can't eat gluten and our waiter happily accommodated me and offered a variety of suggestions on the sides. Unfortunately, there still aren't any desserts that are gluten-free. Our latest visit was with friends for a date night and we had a fabulous time.
Only downside to this restaurant is the very high cost of even the "bottom tier" steaks. We would eat there more often if it were more affordable, but then again, Killen's is not trying to be an everyday steakhouse.
Great food. Incredible crust on the steak. First class. Disappointed on the new appetizers...but crab cakes and scallops great. Don't like to drive outside the Loop to dine since there are plenty of great steakhouses but I will for Killen's. Will be trying STQ soon though
Beautiful interior ..... this restaurant finally fits the beauty of the building. We loved the crab cake appetizer- probably the best I’ve ever eaten! I had the Wet aged filet mignon- medium rare - absolutely perfect! For dessert the creme brûlée bread pudding was fantastic!
