Killen's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
I had a small group of friends there for a birthday dinner. We all had the Harris Ranch filets - they were perfectly cooked and tasted fantastic. Both the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake and Wagyu Skewer appetizers were wonderful. We also split side dishes (each was enough for 3 people) of Spinach Spaetlze w/Bacon and Au Gratin Potatoes. The spaetzle was excellent, the au gratin potatoes were fine - nothing too special. Finally we split the carrot cake and the New York cheesecake - both of which were very tasty, also. The carrot cake was HUGE. We stuck to iced tea, so I can't comment on the wine selection - long drive back to Houston!
Much too warm in restaurant.
Food was really good, but way too pricey. We can only afford to go there on VERY special occasions. Bread served up front was quite disappointing for the dollar amount we were spending. Steaks were wonderful... very nicely sized.
Found it much too loud. Difficult to converse, even just across the table.
Son's birthday was occasion and he wasn't offered a free dessert. We spent over $550.00 that night... a free dessert for the honored guest would have been the right thing to do.
Our waiter, Justin, was exceptional. He made wonderful recommendations. I can't recommend the Brussels sprouts enough. DELICIOUS!! Our steaks were perfect! I rated the value only a 4-star because this is not for the frugal. It's expensive, but you are paying the unbeatable service and unforgettable food. GO and enjoy this restaurant!! ALSO have the carrot cake. You'll love it. And we had the crab cake and the scallops as appetizers. Delicious!!
I really enjoyed the New York Strip Flight
4oz Each of Harris Ranch All-Natural Beef, Strube Wagyu Beef, Cabassi Australian Wagyu and
100% Japanese Wagyu from the Kagoshima Prefecture. The steaks were truly the best I have ever had.
I wasn't really impressed with any side item we have. HoweverI would recommend the Smoked Pork and Black Eyed Pea Gumbo and
Blue Crab and Corn Bisque, For starters and if you had to choose a side for something unique I would recommend the Spinach Spaetzle with Bacon.
The desserts could use some improvement we tried the carrot cake and bread pudding both where pretty standard desserts.
Also the new restaurant is certainly and upgrade from the previous restaurant but it really open and well lit so it seems like people are always staring at you.
Derive staff seem to be a bit slow this day and it could be because it was Mother's Day so I can't complain much but based on this day they could use some improvement on being proactive with guest needs and and little more attentive.
Service was slow. Food was horrible. All of our steaks were over cooked. I don't even know how you over cook a black and blue steak. (Literally pan seared pretty much) came out medium. Worst thing to do to a steak is over cook it. Mentioned it to the waiter and he gave us a handful of excuses; "we came on a busy weekend, can't expect everything to be prefect" "can try to cook my steak again as I imagine it to be cooked". Drove an hour for poor service and poor food. Will not return. Even mentioned on my RSVP that we were dining for a birthday. No happy birthday mentions at all. Incredibly disappointed in this establishment.
This was the second time that our foodie group dined at Killen's, first visit to the new location. As usual excellent food, the new facility was wonderful, every table occupied yet not cramped. Surprisingly the service was rather slow with our server vanishing for long lengths of time.
Overall an enjoyable experience.

Food, service and ambiance are impeccable! Our steaks and fish were cooked to perfection. The service is outstanding. Side dishes (brussel sprouts, creamed corn, Mac n cheese, grilled asparagus)...delicious! Steaks were SO TENDER. Desserts (bread pudding, carrot cake, chocolate cheesecake) were TO DIE FOR.
Food was delicious. Pint Noir was awesome. My mom ordered the Harros Ranch Ribeye and was in love. There were dishes for kids. Also they were able to accommodate my child that had a physical disability. This is a must try.
Where to start? The food is more than PERFECT. I had a Filet, medium and it was absolutely mouth melting. Our Waiter was attentive, always available, courteous, went the second mile to make our evening THE BEST. We don't go often, we are from out-of-town, but when we are in the area, we always make a reservation. The Valet parking was very nice, no walking, no hunting for parking. Everything was wonderful. We are looking forward to returning as soon as we are able.
We were looking for a place to celebrate a birthday, however, needed some place that would seat 17 of us after 9:30pm. Even though Killen's kitchen closes at 10pm, they were very accommodating in preparing us delicious food and desserts, even for some guests who arrived much later than 10pm. The restaurant is many seating areas and definitely can handle large parties. Great food, great service, great late night fun!
They have earned back a customer in this new location. The ambience and service are on par with a fine dining establishment and you are not seated on top of the person next to you like their old location. We had a great server who made wonderful recommendations...the reason it is not 5 star review are minor things...like waiting for bread, not getting plates (ever) for our appetizer, overcooked steak for my husband and a really bad dessert (but this is my opinion of it). All in all a really lovely evening.
This restaurant has an elegant and romantic ambiance. Our waiter was experienced, helpful and just attentive enough. My husband and I were celebrating my birthday, and I hope we make it a tradition for other special occasions!
Dissappointed in atmosphere, service and food. It was ok but not worth the price. Service was slow and not great on knowledge. The interior finish looked like a home improvements not upscale restaurant. Sat bw a wall and a wine display. Couldn't hear each other. We had the dry aged rib eyes that were supposed to be cooked over flame not griddle. Not very flavorful. Overall not great
We were so disappointed in the food. The sides were very good, but our steaks were over cooked and charred. They were replaced but the next ones were really fat and under seasoned. Very disappointed in the whole experience
We were seated immediately, It took 10 before anyone came to our table to take a drink order. It took 15+ minutes before we were brought water and at least as long before we were brought bread, After that the service was great. Our waiter was exceptional. The food was good but a bit over priced for the size of the portions.
Killen's is known for its awesome food and this time it was no different. Perfection all around. Except water. Tap water must go and be replaced with at least filtered water.
Our server (Jason?) was wonderful, very friendly and efficient, made a few thoughtful suggestions. The hostess on other hand could use some training. A simple apology for guests' table not being ready at the reservation time would suffice and be totally expected at a nice restaurant. Nope, didn't happen. Also, answering "no problem" to a guest's "thank you" sounds impolite, odd. And please, do save chewing gum for your off time!
This was our first time at the restaurant's new location. Much larger space, and therefore noisier. This place is busy, bustling, loud. Bar area was packed, too, though seemed to be mostly occupied by guests awaiting their tables. Perhaps at a later hour it becomes a true bar scene.
Since moving from New York, I have been in search for a good steak house. Well I need not look no more. Killen's Steakhouse, is the tops on my list. The service was excellent! The food was excellent! The staff was on top of everything. It is hard to find good food, and a good staff in one place. In Killen's , you get both. I will be going back again, and again.
We were a bit put off when we started looking at the menu. The sides and salads were ala carte which was unusual for us. We split an au graten potato side at the suggestion of our waitress. I'm glad we did because we would never have finished two sides and the steak. The potatoes were wonderful. The steaks were delicious. I had the lower priced ribeye on the menu. It was cooked perfectly. Before our food arrived we were doubtful about returning. After one bite of the steak we changed our minds. Great steaks and nice atmosphere.
Killen's Steakhouse is a must visit for foodies. The quality of steak served here is top notch. So many options to choose from. The appetizers, sides, and desserts are amazing as well. I spent some time at the bar since I was about at hour early and I was pleasantly surprised. The wine menu was extensive (I didn't drink any wine however). Also, their whisky offerings were quite impressive. They have legit mixologist, not just people who pour drinks. I am usually not a cocktail kind of guy but I was glad I indulged that night. Killens never lets me down. I'll be back.
This was our second time within a month or so to the new location. If you're looking for a fantastic steak this IS the place. Perfectly done to your liking. Scrumptious! The selection of sides are delicious as well. We LOVE going to this place. Well worth the money! Ask for Kris! He's a terrific waiter!
Staff very helpful seating us away from the crowds because we had our grandson and we didn't want to disturb people trying to enjoy their meals - not ideal place for kids but obviously they can accommodate most customers needs
We had a wonderful dining experience. Service was top notch, anything we needed was taken care of promptly. Our waiter was attentive to our needs. The food was delivered in a timely manner, ready to eat and taste was excellent.
Killens Sreakhouse is amazing. You really feel special here. Celebrating an anniversary. Our server went above and beyond to make the evening special. Had the crab cake appetizer to start and it was scrumptious. Our steaks came out as ordered and melt in our mouths. Ended with the bread pudding that had a special message for our anniversary. Very nice touch! Thank you Killen"s for a super night. We even had leftovers to enjoy the next night.
