We waited a pretty long time for our meal after ordering & we found it a bit overpriced. Overall, we had a great time & enjoyed the food.
Perfect as usual! Celebrated my brother’s birthday and the food was amazing. Always come to Killens for every occasion!
I ordered the rib eye steak it was ordered medium looked well done no pink, grisly and tough, also not much flavor had to add salt and pepper Randy was our waiter was outstanding.
Incredible food! Amazing evening and fantastic waiter. We will be back!
Steak too dry, ordered medium but arrived medium well. Must order medium rare to get any juicy pink.
40 th birthday
It was our 5 year anniversary and our fourth year in a row celebrating it at Killens. You guys are our favorite restaurant and THE best steakhouse we have ever dined at.
The server and the service was awesome. Awesome place to take your significant other Great!
The only problem we had was getting our table on time. I think the table could have been set up in advance rather than waiting on another party to vacate. The other party didn't vacate so they sat up our table 20 minutes late.
Your beef and pork is ALWAYS so good. It's your thing! But I'm sorry I took a chance: I branched out this time and ordered the snapper. It was overcooked and mushy. Nothing in that plate resembled the lemon butter sauce listed on the menu; the sauce was more similar to cream of mushroom soup. I'm sure there was some crab as the menu described, but I'm not even sure. It probably got lost in the heavy, creamy "sauce." The portion was kind of small and relatively expensive at $36 and I regret giving that fish a chance.
My husband's pork chop and the sides were really, really good as usual - and generous in size. No doubt we'll be back, but I hope you'll consider removing that snapper from the menu. And I'll stick with the stuff you're good at - and there's plenty of that!. It's the first time ever to be disappointed. Been coming for years.
The waiter was great, tho he probably never had that snapper.
The food was really good, but the service was slow. It was over 15 minutes until a waiter came to even ask us if we wanted water. I was not expecting that kind of delay from such a pricey establishment. But, my meal was delicious and there were no other delays after that issue.
Great meal, outstanding service from Randy! One steak overcooked, it was quickly exchanged...the other was perfect as was all the other dishes. Very enjoyable last meal for 2020!
Very nice steakhouse. We went for New Years eve and there was a set price menu. The food was very good and the portions were overflowing. All of the waitstaff were very professional and accommodating.
New Year’s Eve
We requested our ribeye to be cooked rare. It came out medium and somewhat chewy. Scallops were not firm and the bacon encasing them was unevenly cooked
Food was amazing and the atmosphere was great.
Being seated in the wine cellar room was quite pleasant and quieter than the large open space. The food was up to it’s usual quality and our waitress did an excellent job of taking care of us.
Love Patrick our waiter...he always takes great care of us!
Dan was our outstanding server for a 4:15 PM dinner on New Year's Eve. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and especially the filets. Delicious! We will definitely be back. Thank you!
Steak was perfection. Our waiter, Patrick, was great too.
Pricey, small portions and everything A la carte. Poor lighting hard to see the menu. Actually left hungry. Seems like through the years they have been reducing portion size and increase cost. The waiter was not attentive and a bit disheveled! Not going back for sure
Very, very overpriced. $20 for 1 crab cake? Had better in Galveston and Louisiana. Sauce on crab cake was distractingly thick and tart. Artisan greens had no other vegetables and again dressing was thick and distasteful. Better house salad at Chilis has cucumbers, tomatoes and cheese. Service was the best thing. Also hot bread was excellent. Still not worth the money by a mile! Wouldn’t go again.
Wonderful meal and service!
Fabulous food, and service. Waiter Randy was wonderful. Steaks, sides and carrot cake were superb.
Food was hit and miss, service was great, noisy restaurant.
Had a great time! Our waiter Randy was awesome! Thank you!
Steak was a bit overcooked. Well done instead of Medium and not as tender . Maybe all the good cuts were gone after the holidays
Excellent food and service. Randy was a professional on the service side. The food was outstanding as always and it was a fantastic night.
Christmas Eve Dinner out!!
I travel extensively throughout North America and have dined at many 5 star steakhouses and all provide the quality and dining experience I seek, however hands down, without doubt Killen's is the best. My go to is the dry aged ribeye. Never lets me down.
Killens is a very expensive steak house where you pay a minimum of $44 for the cheapest steak and then you still have to pay for your sides which are all $10 and up and generally serve two adults, so not family portions.
The service William provided was incredible and we would request his section again on future visits. He was friendly and quite knowledgeable of the menu.
We dined here Christmas Eve and we’re surprised to find nothing special on the menu in the way of holiday style options. Especially for dessert. It was crowded as expected but the noise volume in the main dining area was excessive. It is located in the same room as the bar and is a large open area so that may be part of the reason. The food itself was delicious and prepared well, but I’m just not sure it is worth the expense.
Everyone knows Killen's is for steak, right? Well they have other things as well. They have a good selection of appetizers and salads as well as entrees that are not "just" steak, such as fish, fried shrimp, pork chops, etc.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there. I had a wedge salad and a crab cake billed as an appetizer for my entree. The crab cake was plenty big enough for that and was filled with crab meat, topped with crab meat, and accompanied by a wonderful mustardy sauce that was a pleasant surprise.
My husband had onion soup and a steak, but no ordinary steak. It was chicken fried steak, for which they used a rib eye that had been pounded thin before breading and frying. The mashed potatoes and green beans that came with it were the perfect accompaniment. The portions were huge, and I never expected him to eat more than half and to bring the rest home. Wrong! He ate every bite of the steak, potatoes, and beans.
Needless to say, we could not hold dessert, but we came home with bread pudding and had it for breakfast the next morning.
Drinks were reasonably priced and generously poured. We did not look at the wine list, so cannot comment.
Our only issue is that the restaurant had a very high noise level. However, we requested a table away from the noisier diners (people were just enjoying themselves for the holidays!), and at our table we could hear each other very well. While more soft, sound absorbing surfaces would help with this issue, it is not a reason to stay away.
We hope to go here again soon.
Had a good meal at Killens. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better tasting steak in Houston. Wonderful food that is perfectly prepared.
The service wasn’t great this visit. Multiple misses and drink glasses that went empty for a while. The ambiance is nice in the dining room, but not high end for a restaurant for this quality. I’ll happily return.
1st time and definitely won't be the last. Had a great meal, and top notch service.
Wife wants to make it a new Christmas tradition for us.
The restaurant was way too loud. We had a round table for 6 and had to yell just to talk. The waiter was inattentive and we had to flag him down any time we needed something and to order dinner. The steak was seasoned well, but not cooked to requested temperature. There are better restaurants with better service around town.
It was our first time visiting Killen's and the food and service were outstanding. We had a wonderful meal and the serving sizes were quite large - so we had some to take home. The only negative about the experience was the noise level in the restaurant. It was quite noisy but you were able to talk over it most of the time. Definitely would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a great dining experience.
One of the best in the area and easier to park and get to versus going downtown....
Everything was fantastic. Brian was great with service. Still a little pricey, but worth the visit. A little loud.
The food was delicious -- especially my fav - the creamed corn. Everyone in our party of 12 expressed how much they love Killen's. It helped to make our gathering special.
Had a charm exchange dinner. Our waiter, Larry, was excellent. Very attentive and friendly. He made sure our first experience at Killen’s was great. Will definitely return.
