About Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant
Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant, located in the quiet village of Volcano, sits on 5 acres of gardens and gazebos and native forest. This hotel restaurant features a large fireplace, local art, koa tables, and is open nightly. Chef/owner Albert Jeyte blends flavors from his European background with farm, ranch and seafood products from Hawaii, the surrounding Pacific and elsewhere.
Volcano Village is at 3700 feet elevation and evenings are often cool and misty. The historic fireplace welcomes guests with it's cheery fire. Home made soups and breads tease the appetite. Albert specializes in unusual game... antelope, rabbit, duck. The biggest sellers are local fish dishes; ahi, ono, mahimahi and the exotic Tristan lobster. A large wine list complements the eclectic menu.

Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
For the last seven years we have escaped mainland winter by spending part of it on the Big Island. Kilauea Lodge has always been a favorite and our last visit Valentines Day for dinner was no exception. Food was outstanding and believe our server Debbie gave the best service we have ever received here! There were two seafood specials on the menu that night and my wife and I ordered one of each. They were spectacular! I would highly recommend dinner or lunch here!
My only suggestion to the Lodge, is keep the gift shop open later. You have some very nice things in there. I was going to buy my wife a necklace she saw before dinner, but the shop was closed before we finished dinner. Your hostess said that they couldn't sell anything from the shop once it closed. Too bad, you lost a nice sale!
Food was not up to normal expectations. Alsatian soup and Lobster salad were both excellent, however entrees (Prawns and Risotto, the Prawns were great, the Risotto seemed just like a scoop of rice), the Pauettes of Beef was kind of like shaved beef, stuffed then deep fried, not a fan). The veggies were flavorless and overdone.
Server was above par, Excellent!
The fireplace didn't have a fire. It would add so much. I came to Kilauea Lodge for dinner for the first time on a chilly, rainy, February, Saturday evening. It would have been really nice to have had a fire. Everything else was delightful and we had a great time. I'm sure we'll be back.
We loved our wait for table in front of the fire place. The staff were excellent and very friendly; our waitress (Mary) explained the venue clearly, knowledgeably, slowly. The breads and deserts were special. I would recommend this place to friends visiting volcano in a heartbeat.
btw, there was a jellyfish aquarium at the hostess counter....who produces those?
Very cozy restored older building. We were staying in the lodge so had dinner & the included breakfast. Don’t see schnitzel often & it was very tender & tasty. Great variety. Hard to choose, but think you can’t go wrong with any entree. Breakfast was traditional & quite good. Overall a wonderful experience. Highly recommend.
The restaurant is absolutely charming and redolent of old Hawaii. It is a treat to be there. However, the food is not a "wow." I asked for my fish medium rare and it came blood red -- tasty but a bit too rare for me. Balsamic salad dressing had an odd flavor so I didn't take more than a few bites. Steamed vegetables were fine but extremely plain. Bread was excellent. Breakfast the next morning was far tastier than dinner.
Always feel well come here. Delicious, well prepared food at moderate price. Fresh ahi cooked to exactly as requested. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. I had their lilikoi margarita, which is so very tasty, balanced sweet and tart. Ambience was f the lodge is exceptional with the fireplace on for the chilly Volcano nights, beautiful local artwork. We dine there every visit, usually twice.
The food is tremendous. The specials are really special, i.e. filet of antelope shank. Regular entrees are delicious. The wait staff is interested in serving the guests. The wall above the fireplace has stones from around the world and is quite interesting to examine. The fireplace burns real wood, not gas.
The four of us enjoyed the whole experience....from delicious food to a fun place to be. We will plan to eat there again when in the area. Our server (sorry I forgot her name) was wonderful...great service and fun...as tourists we had questions and she gave good info. The menu had a nice variety, the drinks very good....sorry can't be more detailed but truly a vacation
Truly atmospheric and resembling a cozy mountain lodge. Food is very good and portions are generous. Service is also warm and professional. We liked this visit so much that we returned again the following night and again, were well taken care of. I would recommend this place to round off a visit to the volcano. Well worth it.
For a my wife's 60th Birthday, I took her to the Kilauea Lodge B & B for a two night stay. This included a New Years Eve dinner. The ambiance of the dinning area of the lodge is very cozy with a large brick fire place, a rustic wood decor and nicely decorated for the season. Our food was absolutely delicious from the rack of lamb to the prime rib and topped of with a yummy chocolate desert. The wait help were very attentive and cheerful , which made the night a most memorable night for both of us. Yes even the breakfast, which is included with the stay, was
For Boxing Day in Volcano we wanted to splurge for dinner out and this was a great family pick! Coconut curry mushroom soup, macadamia nut bread, lobster Caesar salad,Ono and Tuna cooked perfectly and apple cheesecake for dessert with a local Volcano wine. Delish! Wonderful ambiance and terrific service.
We actually enjoyed 2 dinners and 2 brunches while staying in Volcano village for a couple of days right before Christmas. We have dined at Kilauea Lodge a couple of years ago and returned. We were not disappointed. The menu provides a nice selection with some specials. The wait staff is very professional, well-trained and managed and the food was terrific. The service was a small bit slow during the holiday season, but now more than we might expect and the staff was so courteous and apologetic about any delays that we were not bothered by this at all. It is so wonderful to find such a fine dining experience located so near a fabulous national park. Thank you for helping us enjoy our vacation on The Big Island!
