Our party of four enjoyed a delicious variety of options on the menu. The meals were hot and tasty. The service staff was most sensitive to little details like refilling water glasses. We had a very enjoyable experience and plan to return again in a few weeks when we are back in town.
We have been to Kil@Wat many times after a play at the Repertory Theater and have always enjoyed it. However, several people in our party did not enjoy their fish. It was dry and tasteless. I don’t know if we just hit a bad night but we will come back but not for a while.
Another great dinner, this time whitefish and pork chop, both fresh and flavorful. Appetizer of cheese platter with excellent marmalades and mustard. Great Malbec and rish creme brulee and chocolate cake desserts.
Kilowat us to have an interesting menu with very tasty food. The last 2 times I have eaten there the food is somewhat bland and the choices not very interesting. I am disappointed since it used to have a different quality of food. The restaurant is convenient for the theater, but I will not go there again.
The one really positive area was the service. Our sever was welcoming, attentive, and helpful.
Flank steak was delicious....Prosecco was very good.
Menu is too limited; recently got even smaller. No specials. Food isn’t impressive enough for the high prices. Some favorites have changed for the worse-Brussels sprouts undercooked and flavorless now.
Good food and convenience to theater, Becky is always a great server.
Delicious meal, great ambiance and located close to the PAC.
Service was weak, food was good. They totally forgot about the birthday celebration. Ordered a house wine and they were out. It was conveniently located but there are too many other places to go so I won't go back.
Decent ambiance with a nice view of the PAC, city hall and adjacent buildings. Food and drinks were good and the service was excellent. Menu was limited but was adequate. We had a good time and would come again. Bernie Tesmer
Delightful brunch and lunch menu. Loved the Smoked Salmon Benedict
Kilowat has gotten to be pretty mediocre. Limp salads, so-so entrees. Kind of feels a little cafeteria-ish. Close to the Marcus Center is good, but otherwise, not really all that good. Needs a thorough rethinking.
Met some friends downtown for brunch. When looking for a good brunch stop, Kil@wat kept popping up so we decided to try it out. I’m glad we did. Great menu and terrific service. The waitress had great suggestions and also asked for our feedback on items we tried. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant.
Great spot to grab brunch before a show! Nice selection and great prices!
Everyone was happy with their meal. We had enough time for dessert before the theater which doesn't always happy. Good job tonight! Thanks
The menu was recently updated and the new vegetarian option was a veggie curry, excellent. The cornmeal crusted trout also was very good with tasty vegetables, mostly colorful cauliflower. Service was excellent despite being very busy on a Saturday night. It would be nice if the non meat-containing soups were made with vegetable stock.
One of our favorite places. Unfortunately due to timing of food prep they decided to change their menu and altered some of our favorite dishes to the point where they were bland and flavorless. Specifically the pork chop. That change really impacted our dinner experience and the overall experience of the time we spent in the city. The meal was one of the anticipated highlights of a planned anniversary trip and it failed to meet our previous experience at this restaurant. Disappointing.
Good good, great service, poor table ! Everything was good except there tables are poorly arranged so privacy is an issue
The food was quite good. The steak was not quite as well done as I like, but it was tender and tasty. The grilled asparagus was perfect--not mushy at all, but fully cooked. The potatoes also were baked well. The restaurant accommodated me and put the sauce at the side. The waiter was sweet and attentive, making sure our special occasion was special. The desserts were delicious, especially the berry one. The restaurant was just a bit noisy and we had someone who was hard-of-hearing so it made it a little challenging.
Our waiter was great. Fun, helpful, and very very nice. Our group all really liked their meal.
Very enjoyable dinner!
Excellent baked White Fish. I was allowed to make a substitution for a side dish and was guided by our Server with a terrific result. Dinner Companion had a craft cocktail that was reported to be delicious. An "A+" experience.
Food was good, waitress came of rude, almost as if to question the amount of food we didn’t eat. Very upsetting service
The food and service was excellent. We ordered the kale salad, it was so delicious. We wanted the big boy burger, tasted as good as we remembered long ago when we were kids. Perfect day.
Kitchen was very noisy. Table was not completely set when we were seated. I had to ask for water. Kitchen did not follow server’s (diner’s) request. I though Kil@Wat was improving but not this trip. It would’ve nice to have a ‘side’ options with prices printed on the menu for those of us with smaller appetites.
Service was very slow. Food was mediocre. Unusual from my past experience with this restaurant.
The food & service was excellent as usual..
The server was wonderful, very attentive and a pleasant man.
I liked the new menu items. The waiter was excellent. The last few times I have been to Kil@wat, the kitchen has been slow. Once dinners arrived 50 minutes after ordering, this time about 30 minutes. The wait could be filled with another glass of wine, but at 12-15/glass is a bit steep.
Great food! Tried items from their newest meal and enjoyed everything. Great service too.
Our brunch choices were very good. Our waiter was efficient and friendly. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the proximity to the theatre. It was a bit chilly in the dining area buy very comfortable in the hallway...not sure why that was.
The Chef Special White Fish with Parmesan Grits and Broccolini was outstanding.
The presentation was exquisite and appetizing. We loved the experience and helpful advice from Mario our waiter.
We came for the ambiance and MARCS BIG BOY...what a taste thrill.
This was dinner before a show at the Rep, and had come recommended. The waiter was only mildly attentive. My girlfriend ordered the trout, and it was excellent. I ordered the Seafood Cavatappi, and it was more like a soup than a pasta dish. I mentioned this to our server, and he didn't offer another solution. The manager stopped by to check on us, and I stated that it was very different than what I expected, and that I wasn't expecting a soup-like dish as the main entree. He didn't offer another option or even acknowledge that I was dissatisfied.
It was an odd experience, and from this experience I sadly can't recommend the restaurant. The decor, location and ambiance is very nice, but the service and customer satisfaction need some work.
The lentil hash with oyster mushrooms and Brussels sprouts topped with eggs was outstanding and extremely reasonably priced. I was most pleased with the fact that the staff was able to accommodate me when not only was I 10 minutes late for my reservation but my party doubled from 2 to 4 at the last minute. Many thanks!
We arrived with an extra guest and were readily accommodated. We all enjoyed the food. The atmosphere is relaxing.
Our experience on 1/28/18 for brunch was awful. The service was incredibly slow (they appear to have been understaffed), it was 30 minutes from when we sat down until we even received our beverages.
While we sat there waiting some sort of service, we watched the hostess several times go over to the table next to us (a group she clearly knew) and eat food off their plates with her fingers. Then as she walked away (past our table) she was licking her fingers. EW!
On the plus side, the food itself tasted great....although we didn't get all of it at the same time. (And we had to go up to the bar and ask for some ketchup because our server never came and checked on us.)
In a nutshell, if you have a few hours to kill and don't mind being incredibly frustrated at the speed, join them for brunch!
Gathered with 2 friends for Sunday lunch. Great service, excellent breakfast, pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. We all commented afterwards how much we enjoyed the restaurant and would return again soon. Have also used this restaurant on evenings where we attended the ballet.
We had a flank steak and it was delicious and a Prosecco with it.
I really enjoy this restaurant - service is great with greetings from the host/hostess and very attentive wait staff. Great value for the money and definitely worth driving downtown for a good meal. This was dinner but I have also had brunch here numerous times and love the omelet and French Toast. The night view of downtown is very nice.
Overall it was just average. It's a nice space, though. It seemed strange they walked my friend and I over to a back corner table and also that I couldn't make a reservation at the specific time that I wanted on open table (5:30 was the time that I wanted) when it was clearly not busy at all that night.
I had the rushing waters trout. It was underseasoned and overall the dish was on the oily side, maybe it was the kale that was oily. I didn't really think I needed bacon with the fish dish, it didn't work for me. The server was very nice but for example when she dropped off the dessert menu she quickly left the table and there was a "seasonal" fruit mousse which I wouldn't have known what that was until she told me. It's not like it was busy that night so she could have spent a little more time at our table. I think she could hear our conversation at the corner table they put us at from their stations. Soon after I said to my friend how it wasn't helpful to drop off the dessert menu and not tell us what the seasonal flavors are, she came around the corner and answered that question, so I felt some eavesdropping going on, not really what you want to feel at the dinner table. I also asked her a question about one of the buildings outside, she didn't know and was going to ask others and I realized later she never came back to me about that, either. It's not like she was a "bad" server but she wasn't really doing all the things she could to provide a nice service.
My friend said her hanger steak was just "ok", as well. So, unfortunately, neither of us were impressed.
The pretzel buns were really good, warm, and gooey. Of course, so dense that I couldn't then finish my meal, lol.
I see shows often downtown and next time, it's highly unlikely that I'll choose Kil@wat in the future. They honestly just didn't give me any reason to come back or to choose this over the many other restaurants downtown.
(does anyone else think they should ditch the @ symbol in the name?)
Great food and nice venue.
