We eat at Kil@wat frequently but this most recent evening we had a new server and he not as organized as our usual experience. We had two hours but were almost late for our show. We will be back as 9 of 10 times service is great.

Beautiful space - someone really cares about ambience and it shows! A+ in this area. Server was friendly but not attentive. Our used plates for apps, bread sat almost piled up on our table long after we were finished. Water glasses empty & finally refilled once. A table of 3 was seated after our table of 2 - and they received their entrees first. Only when our entrees finally arrived were we checked on or offered 2nd cocktails which we declined because by that point we weren't too thrilled with the experience. The salmon was excellent. We really wanted to like Kilowat but unfortunately won't be back. The bar Clear in the lobby was a much better service experience so we'd probably go back there for drinks.

We were very impressed with the whole evening. The server was excellent he asked if we were going to a show and what time we need to leave. He made sure we were not rush and made it to the show with plenty of time. Food was excellent we had the mussels of an appetizer and would go back for them.

Made reservations prior to attending the Milwaukee Ballet. I gave us 1.5 hours which wasn't nearly enough time. After 45 minutes we still had not received our appetizer. I asked the waitress letting her know we were on a schedule. She was very polite, and the food followed, however the appetizer came at the same time as the food. I like a leisurely dinner, but by the time we got our food we had to rush through it. We got the pear flatbread which was awful. The flatbread was rock hard. However, our meals, the chicken breast and the short rib made up for it - both were fantastic. Enjoyed the atmosphere, trendy and cozy, perfect for conversation.

Had reservation through Open Table but when we arrived we were seated at a small table in the bar for our dinner. One of our dinners was delivered wrong. It was a disappointing evening and we won’t be returning.

The menu is one of the best in town for satisfying everyone tastes. Comfortable room, Not too noisey. For a good dining experience pre/post Pabst Theater, Milwaukee Rep or Marcus Center event , Kil@wat can't be beat.

We dined there on a Saturday night before a show downtown. Our timing was somewhat tight due to the number of diners there and we let our waiter Oliver know. In the hour we had he made sure that our dishes arrived promptly and we felt like everything was normal - unrushed. Kudos to him and the kitchen staff.

We had the salmon, the dry aged steak, and the pork chop. All agreed that their choices were very good and the food amount was just right. The steak comes with a rich brown sauce covering the filet and some of the purple potatoes that accompany it. A wild rice “hash brown” served as the bed for the salmon which was tender and flaky. The pork chop was sweet and moist with a unique flavor.

Well done for dinner.

So... we stopped back after the show to have the dessert we did not have time for and had a very different experience. The waiter at that time clearly did not want to be there. The desserts are frankly not worth ordering. The brûlée is perhaps half the size one is normally served (@9$) and seemed to have more of a flan consistency. The cheesecake was tasty but dry. The chocolate fondant was ok. The americano coffee was served in a small coffee cup and was lukewarm - suspiciously similar to a regular coffee from a pot. Clearly was not a correct americano.

Go for the dinner as it is very good but consider having dessert somewhere else.

a nice menu for brunch or lunch. Salmon hash with poached eggs, with hollandaise sauce was a treat. My granddaughter enjoyed pancakes and the restaurant accommodated our timing so we could get to the theater by 1PM

Great food and service. Very convenient before attending the theater , symphony, ballet and so on. Several of us think that the menu has been the same for a while and could use an update with some new meals.

We were a little early for our reservation, and were told we would have to wait when there was clearly enough empty tables available. As I found out later the reason was because there was no
one to clear and set tables. The food was very good but the waitstaff could not get it together, too slow to take our order, food order, drink order, pick something! It is such a shame to have such a beautiful facility with such good food, staffed by such inept people. As we were leaving to get to our show at Uihlein Hall, the staff was standing around the front desk....with at least 12 plus dirty tables to be taken care! No management around?? Too bad, I will have to find another restaurant to go to next time!

We had an early reservation before a show, and were taking our time enjoying talking. Server started out attentive, was knowledgeable about the food. She brought us a dessert menu so we could plan ahead for the end of the meal. Food was well prepared Hanger Steak done perfectly, Bucatini with sausage and broccolini very good as well. A bit salty for my taste, but still enjoyed it. As the restaurant got busier, service lagged and became less attentive, no one checked back after our entrees were delivered. Not bad, but not great. Overall, a nice place to go before a show, we would return!

The service was fast and friendly. I had a problem with the bright light from the large windows shining in my eyes so that I could not see my companion across the table from me. They could use some light-controlling shades for this issue. The food was very good with a nice selection for brunch.

We arrived at Kil@Wat at our scheduled reservation time @ 6:45pm

Upon arriving, we were taken to our table which already had someone sitting at it. The waitress asked the gentleman to move to the bench side of the table. As my wife looked at me, and me at her, we decided that neither of us really wanted to sit elbows touching with this stranger. We asked for a new table. Our waitress then told us to hold on for a second, so we stood in the middle of the restaurant. She went back to the waitress stand and then proceeded to help the next customer leaving us in the middle of the restaurant.

After waiting for a few more minutes, we returned to the waitress stand, where we again asked for a new table. A different waiter then took us to a newer table where we were seated and then handed a menu. A few minutes later, the waiter arrived and proceeded to tell us that they were really backed up in the kitchen, and most likely we could only get an appetizer if we expected to eat within the next 70 minutes. Basically, he told us don't order anything on the right side (entrees) of the menu.

We decided to pull the plug and just walked out...I will not waste my time here again.

It was a shame, my wife looked absolutely amazing. I was embarassed for choosing this dive.

The server was polite, but not always attentive. The flatbread we ordered was terrible. It was basically a salad on top of a piece of bread. The soup was tasty, but lukewarm. All 3 meals we ordered tasted fine, but were also lukewarm.

By the web photos I was happy that it was more elegant than many casual resturants. But unfortunately that was not the case. No table cloths, very casual. Cosmo cocktail was terrible, so I switched to wine. We were not in a hurry so we were glad that we were not rushed. With that said the waiter did not return to our table to check on how our food was or refill ourbeverages as often as he ight have. Polite as necessary.

The crab cake was stellar, but was listed as crab cakes and there was only one. I ordered the braised short ribs which were very tender. My significant other ordered the skirt steak which was incredibly tough, but had a good sauce with it. For dessert, we ordered the fondant cake and the frosting was good as was the raspberry coulis but the cake was pretty dry. Our service was good, but they didn't have our reservation from Open Table in the system and if it weren't for us getting there early, we may not have gotten a table since they were booked due to a play that night. I would possibly go back one more time but felt underwhelmed for the price.

This is the first time that we have eaten at the Kil@wat. My wife and I both ordered the pan roasted chicken entree. Everything about this entree was good. We are not big eaters and the portion was perfect for us, with an appropriate price of $21. The wine per glass was a little pricey for the small amount of the pour. The service was good, but our waiter was kept very busy with a large number of tables. Fortunately, another server delivered our dinner which was served hot--good team work.

Service was the sore point. The servers mixed up plates, set plates down on top of silverware, served dishes without proper utensils. Then one of our party had a severely over brined pork chop that had to be set back. Her follow up dish was so late in arriving we were all done eating by the time it came. Her salmon was done nicely but her broccoli rob was actually burnt. There was no time to send it back or say anything as half our party had to catch a show. The food was tasty but the service left a bitter taste in our mouths. Not what we expect from one of Milwaukee’s finer restaurants.
