Kiko Japanese, Thai Restaurant & Sake Bar
Kiko Japanese, Thai Restaurant is located in Plantation. When you walk in, you are instantly transported to Japan by the rich imported Japanese wood and stylish contemporary décor. With tatami-style booths as well as a 20-seat sushi bar, it is easy to feel you have left Florida behind.
The exotic nature of Kiko Japanese, Thai Restaurant extends beyond the décor to the imaginative lunch and dinner menus. Lunch options include sushi bento style, teriyaki and healthy salads. The basil salmon and orange chicken salads are quite popular options. The dinner menu comprises many pages so it is probable that your favorites are represented. Be sure to check out the dessert and sake menu as well for a complete experience at Kiko Japanese, Thai Restaurant.
Tuesday, Thursday----beer night 2 for 1
Saturday ----sakitini night 2 for 1
Once a month sake tasting party (reservation bonsaikiko club member only) we only provide top of line sake
The sushi and sashimi were of poor quality, hard/fibrous toro tuna, dry lobster in the roll, rolls ”disarming” while trying to grab them with the chopsticks. Table was never cleaned after the plates were brought to the table.
We will not be coming back or recommending this place.
Love this place, great selection, must try the Tempora Cheesecake
This food is terrible. The restaurant was mostly empty and the service was bad; but not as bad as the food.
Something changed at this restaurant. Orders didn’t come out properly and service was very slow. The menu also changed from our last visit.....much less choices. We used to love this restaurant, but it’s no longer the same.
I was very put off by the fact that the tea was not brewed, but served in a teabag with hot water. My dining partner had a curry that, while quite tasty, skimped on veggies and had chicken which was roasted and then cut up and tossed into the sauce. My duck, on the other hand, was prepared well and the sauce was very nice. We know of other Japanese and Thai restaurants that we prefer and will go to them in the future.
Delicious food grate Ambience always recommend a smiling Mona roll
The place was empty when we arrived but the food presentation was excellent. People did come in but the restaurant was somewhat empty, thus the noise level was quiet. Food portions are generous. Salad with ginger dressing was the only non-taste food item but the entrees and miso soup more than made up for it.
Their sushi was very good
The food was excelent the price fair.
Food was delicious , very tasty and fresh sushi .
The only complaint is they brought our food before clearing the table with the appetizer plates so we had to call someone to come clear the table .
we waited 15 minutes no one came to take our order
a busser took our drink order
no drinks for 15 minutes
we left because terrible service
Met a group of friends for a Friday evening get together. I made the reservation a couple of weeks in advance and confirmed the day before. They really seemed annoyed that we chose their restaurant. The food was fine. The server never said hi, welcome, anything. She just stood there with her electronic pad. No one said goodbye when we left. Nothing. I felt totally unwelcome. Plus the tip was added to our check and no one alerted us to that. I find that very rude.
Excellent food and great friendly service . Always the place to go to eat great sushi rolls, they also have great weekly drink specials . The atmosphere is casual and pleasant. Favorite date night spot in plantation.
The service was fair. The restroom was beyond filthy.
The food is out of this world!!!
The ambiance is nice with nice seat arrangement and lighting. The service is terrible. We sat for 15 minutes before the little gal with an iPad would come over and take our drink order. Then another 10 minutes for the appetizer order. We therefore paced the entree order at the same time to avoid a long wait. The food was mediocre. Nothing spectacular. The wonton soup and noodle soups were good. We ordered 2 chicken noodle soups and 1 was brought with the win in soup and I had to hail out to the little gal 5 minutes after to ask for the 2nd chicken noodle soup. Water and drinks were repeatedly slow in refilling.
The sushi entrees were okay. The price for value is not good at all. The pad Thai was okay. The Popeyes chicken was not explained as being made with coconut milk but tasted okay as well. Again water and drinks were not refilled without asking.
A different waitress was assigned to our table after I sat there shaking my head about the terrible service. She gave a discount but that does not wipe out the slow service. The iPad gal still has not shown her face.
Possibly the worst service I have ever received. The staff from top to bottom had no idea what was going on. From ordering taking forever, drinks not coming, a bottle of wine was presented and removed for 15 minutes till I got up to ask where it was. Our entree’s were so slow - we left. We were beaten out the door by other parties have similar bad experience. Will never go there again and would recommend to everyone to try somewhere else.
I made our reservation through OpenTable. The day before we were to eat at Kiko, someone from the restaurant called me to confirm, indicating that they were overbooked and going to be very crowded. The person told me to “make sure you are exactly on time” or they might not be able to seat us at all. My SO and I arrived 10 minutes early. We were seated right away because the resatuarant was nearly empty. (Insert eye roll here) We ordered the sushi Boat for 2 and an order of lobster pad Thai to share. 55 minutes after ordering, there was no food in sight. I asked our absentee waitress if it was going to be much longer because we had to leave soon. She said it would be at least another 20 minutes. I don’t mind waiting for good food, but not 75 minutes for average sushi. She rushed our pad thai order, we ate in 10 minutes, paid, and left without any acknowledgement. Poor service, average food, wouldn’t recommend, won’t be back. Ever.
Food came out cold. The service was slow and disorganized.Goid not as good as it use to be same with the customer service.
Sushi was expensive for the quality.
We found the food was amazing and moderately priced , service was also very good my wife and I really enjoyed the experience! this restaurant is definitely worth checking out!! Were looking forward to coming back!
Made a reservation and when we got to the restaurant, couldn’t find the hostess to tell her we were all there.By the time we got to tell the hostess we had arrived, she suddenly went behind the bar to make drinks. It took over a half hour to finally get seated. The food was average at best and the waitress would constantly disappear. I would definitely not recommend Kiko
Sadly, the quality of the food just keeps declining. When it first opened, it was incredible, we went often. This was our last "second chance" visit. The food is just not good, the portions are skimpy. You get a plate of rice with a sliver of fish. Not worth it anymore.
It was our daughters birthday. We love it here, the food is great and we like the ambiance. Service was not great tonight. The restaurant was pretty full and we saw 2 servers. Drinks were not kept full and dirty plates were not removed. Off night I guess.
THE FISHE IS FRESH FROZEN.....REALLY!!!!!!!! EVERYONE RECEIVED THEIR FOOD AT DIFFERENT TIMES. THEY ARE ALL OVER YOU TO ORDER AND THEN CANNOT SERVE YOU TOGETHER. I ASKED WHAT WAS FRESH AND SHE TOLD ME ALL OF THE SEAFOOD IS FRESH FROZEN. THE EVENING WAS ABOUT THE COMPANY CERTAINLY NOT ABOUT THE FOOD
Heard very mixed reviews on Kiko's service, so was a bit apprehensive, but no issues at all during our visit - a very nice experience. We were right on time for our reservation and our table was ready immediately. Service was attentive, prompt and cordial; sushi was fresh, the booth was roomy and comfortable. We made a reservation...I'd recommend doing so, as I was surprised to see the restaurant busy even on a Thursday night (in May after season) and we would have been waiting, had we just walked in. It can get a bit loud...but we were seated near a large, very boisterous group, so the noise level was particularly "energetic" that night.
If you love japanese and thai food this is a restaurant you should visit. Our appetizers and main course were very good. We tried three pepper spice and it was very spicy, Perfect for me! Loved it! The service could not have been better. The abience is very pleasant. Everyone was very friendly and wanted to make us happy. We will definately go again and we will recommend it to friends.
I had a dinner party for my dirty thirty with 25 people ..... the drinks, food, service, accommodation was amazing .Everyone was happy. My dinner was a success .
If you want great food, this is the place. If you want unprofessional, sub-par, inexperienced wait staff , this is also the place.
It looks like the hostess is also the bartender , who is also a server, who is also a menu-gatherer and order taker.
Everyone is running around doing a little bit of everything, but nothing done well.
Been there twice and when I checked in with the hostess it was as if it were her first night- and it wasn't the same girl.
The sushi is outstanding, so if you're tolerant of really bad service it's worth going
A great evening filled with laughter, fun, sake and excellent food! Outstanding sushi... lobster lava, smiling Mona Lisa with generous portions and beautiful presentation. J. Lohrs red wine which is excellent is available at a reasonable price. Young inexperienced waitress was the only downside. She got help from Annie, the Manager who is outgoing and very efficient. One of our family's favorite restaurant in Florida.
Nothing really special, but you won't be disaapointed. Comfortable and upscale atmosphere with a full sushi menu.
No bar, terrible wine selection, but adequate beer and awesome sake selections.
Best restaurant in Plantation, FL!
we showed up for a birthday dinner for four people at 7:15 and were promptly seated. By 7:45 we still had not ordered and by 8:15 we left, having received water and ice tea only. we asked for the manager to come to our table at 7:45 but she never came by (and was on the phone when we walked out). yes, we told them why we were leaving; no one seemed to care. (we overheard two other tables asking for the manager, too). an off night? Maybe, but a good manager should have followed us out to apologize, at the very least!
This is our favourite place to dine and we just can't get enough of it!
Love this joint. Servers check on you but not over intrusive. Sushi is alway fresh. Curry is great
Discovered this restaurant only a few months before moving away from Plantation. Expect a long wait for table, even with reservation. The food is excellent, but you will wait a long time for it to arrive, so the wait is worth it as long as you are not in a hurry. Open Table reservations often are not registered, acknowledged, or mishandled, so points earned are not added to your account total without dogged follow up directly with restaurant. After needing to follow up this way after two dining experiences, and failing to follow up on two subsequent dining experiences, I just stopped using Open Table to make the reservation (Open Table take note).
Great discovery! I have lived within walking distance of this restaurant for almost 8 months and finally had an opportunity to try it out w/ family visiting from out of town. Excellent selection of sushi and sashimi beautifully presented & fantastic Thai curries as well.
Food was good. I'll be back for sure.
The service was rude for the closing
