About Kiki's Bistro

Kiki's is a French Bistro with regional specialties and has the look and feel of a French country inn.

It has received 3-star reviews from both *The Chicago Tribune* and *The Sun Times*, and now in its eighteenth year, Kiki's Bistro maintains its well-earned reputation of gastronomic excellence and friendly, professional service. A comfortable French country atmosphere attracts an eclectic array of food-lovers, including celebrities, politicians, and acclaimed chefs.

Previous to Kiki's Bistro, Georges "Kiki" Cuisance opened Le Bordeaux at Madison and State in 1969. The restaurant attained a revered status among cosmopolitan Chicagoans, and when "Kiki" moved his kitchen to its current River North digs, his avid following of regulars and Francophiles pursued without hesitation. In an official proclamation the City of Chicago praised Mr. Cuisance for being at the forefront of introducing French cuisine and savoir-vivre to Chicago's developing dining scene.

Once again, we had a great dining experience at Kiki's. In addition to their regular menu items, four specials were offered: bouillabaisse, coq au vin, cassoulet, and beef bourguignon. How's that for bistro food. Both of our entrees were well prepared and were delicious, and the service was attentive. We will be going back soon.

My fiancé and I had an amazing experience at Kiki's. We went there to celebrate his birthday. It wasn't too busy on a Tuesday evening, which I attribute to its slightly out-of-the-way neighborhood location. The restaurant was perfectly lit with hanging candles—such a cool touch—and well-decorated. Very classy. There were a couple regulars at the bar and the atmosphere was jovial yet refined. The service was also excellent. We were greeted with a smile and offered coat check. Our waiter was very nice and because it was a slow night, the food came out extremely promptly, less than ten minutes at most after we ordered. Speaking of the food, it was all amazing. We had three appetizers: the French onion soup, which is one of their signature dishes (so I'm told), the foie gras, and the frog legs (which I was nervous about). We loved them, and we weren't too full to enjoy our entrees, the duck and the lamb shanks. My fiancé said his duck was the best he's ever had, and I felt the same way about my lamb, which was tender and flavorful. For drinks, he had Duvel, a strong Belgian, and I had sparkling rosé (nothing special, but well-priced) and Kiki's martini, which was a martini flavored with white grape juice, which made it sweet, pretty (almost iridescent), and easy to drink. I don't usually drink martinis, so I appreciated the flavor, but a more experienced drinker might have the opposite reaction. Finally, we shared the crême brulée, which again was delicious—crunchy and rich, and came with a candle for the birthday boy. There was some chocolate at the bottom of the dish, which I didn't enjoy as much (I'm not a chocolate fan) but my fiancé loved. I don't usually write these reviews, but I hope I've convinced readers to give Kiki's a try if they haven't already. I expect they'll have just as amazing, relaxed, classy, and delicious experience as we did.

Kiki's is a top notch dining experience, from the excellent service to the fantastic food its one of the best places to have dinner in the city. Stop by, say 'bonjour' to the restaurants namesake, have a glass of wine or 3, and make sure to order dessert!

My second visit in three days. If you like “old school “ French bistro cuisine, with friendly, professional service and affordable wines leaning towards France this is your place to dine. I had the bouillabaisse, and my wife the magret duck breast with leg confit. Both dishes were perfectly prepared and thoroughly enjoyed. This is now one of my “favorites” in Open Table.

Kiki's is a reliable place for a quiet weeknight dinner. The fixe prix is especially a good deal though the food is good not great. It has a terrific wine list and some very reasonably priced wines. Service is excellent. Nothing spectacular but steady and reliable.

Kiki’s is a very consistent French restaurant that never disappoints. Its style is traditional with all the typical dishes on offer. It’s not a bistro and has a very nice interior. We always enjoy dining there.

The service was excellent, and the food delicious from the cocktails to dessert. It was a bit noisy for our tastes, but I doubt that younger people would mind. We would dine there again any time. We highly recommend!

We had a great evening from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Everyone was friendly and nice and took very good care of us. The food was delicious and the car parker was so nice about trying to keep us dry from the torrential rains. We hadn't been there in a long while and we will return in a shorter amount time.
Thanks for a great evening.

On our way to dinner, I described Kiki's to my friend as "reliable French." I've been coming to this cozy spot for – oh, geez, how is this possible? – 20 years. For business lunches, business dinners, dates, birthdays, get-togethers with friends, I know the food will be great and the service will be just right: attentive but never intrusive. This time, I dined with a friend from out of town so I asked to be seated somewhere on the quiet side. Kiki gave us our choice of tables, tucked away from all the other diners. Perfection. And the valet was pulling my car around as we stepped out the door, another nod to the great service. There's a reason Kiki's has been around forever. If you've never been, do give it a try. If you haven't been in a while, it's as good as you remember. And for those who love French onion soup, it's the best in the city.

I have been to Kiki's at least 6 times in the last 3 years. It has gone downhill significantly. The service was poor at best. The filet entrée was awful, particularly at $38 - it may have been the worst steak I have ever had at a high-end expensive restaurant. I will not be going back.

Everything about Kiki's Bistro was excellent. I have been there before and somehow got off my radar. It was my birthday and was thinking about a special place to dine. Kiki's did a mind surf and I made a reservation. It was a beautiful night in the city and we were able to get a table outside. Our waiter was phenomenal in all aspects of taking care of us. We began with an appetizer of pate which was to die for. We both had fish. I had the salmon and my husband had the trout. Both dishes were incredibly good and my husband commented that after a bite of my salmon it was the best he had ever had! We finished with the poached pear on top of phylo surrounded in caramel!! Absolutely incredible!!!
Will go back and back and back!! Kiki's did not disappoint!!!!

We were very disappointed with our 31st anniversary dinner due to being seated in the side dining area next to the restrooms. We were the only people seated in this area during our entire meal and several two tops were seated in the half full main dining room after we had been seated. We enjoyed our two bottles of champagne and left after spending over $400 including tip. We felt needlessly disrespected and singled out. We will never return again.

A little slice of France in Chicago - proper French food, with a good choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. A decent wine list too, which helps!
We had an extravagantly moustachioed waiter, who turned out to be Mexican but responded kindly to our attempts to speak French.
We would definitely go again next time we're in town - makes a nice change from steak and pizza
