Khublai Khans introduces the fine taste of Mongolian cuisine in the heart of Edinburgh’s famous Leith area. Starters include Kangaroo Haggis, Zebra Stroganoff and soup of the day, whilst the mains are all selected from the diner from a cold selection of salads and rices and grilled meats: they are also side orders such as garlic bread and hand-cut chips. Located at 43 Assembly Street, Khubali Khans is a spcacious restaurant beloved by diners. Edinburgh Castle is an eighteen minute journey by car and the Palace of Holyroodhouse ten minutes.

Always love eating here, quirky and different. All I would say maybe more choice of vegetables and different selection of noodles and rice.

waiter very friendly and nice.. excelty service. great food something different. would recommend it to everyone. unique food different to your regular restaurant so if u fancy something different i would definitely try khublai khan .. really enjoyed eating here and would go back again.

Khubli Khan offers a dynamic, fun way of having a large communal meal among friends. The "Mongolian Barbeque" allows you to try out some exotic meats, like Llama, Buffalo and Kangaroo, and make your own dishes from an huge array of spices and sauces. The chef cooks it on a giant metal disc (reminiscent of the Mongols shields perhaps?). The only menu option at the time of day we went, was the "Full Banquet", which gives you a starter, dessert and as many trips to the barbeque as you can handle. It's okay, and I've been a few times, but each time it gets more expensive and less worth it. Now it's 25 quid without drinks. As most dishes end up similar, going once, maybe twice, in your life is a fun experience, but more is not worth the cost.

The choice of meats available here combined with the way you choose your sauce and then create it yourself makes the restaurant a great and slightly different night out.

Excellent tasty food with a bit of a twist. If you enjoy being creative with your food then this the place is for you. There are recipes to follow, or simply throw in what you fancy and see if it works, whilst also trying some new meats that you might not have had on your plate before - zebra, kangaroo, wild boar, to name but a few. A great way to get everybody involved in the whole food experience, and the good atmosphere and friendly staff ensure a great evening will be had.

Firstly greeted by pleasant welcoming staff who explaining dining in Khublai Khan's easily, you area quickly seated and service is faultless. Secondly onto the food, providing you with a taste of exotic foods with your own mix of herbs, spices, oils, veg and rice/noodles, it is Unbelievable! Every recipe tasted different and you can eat what you like! Great to try small portions just a couple of mouthfuls and keep going back to get the best out of your experience. Lastly the surroundings make it an enjoyable place to eat with the authenticity of a Mongolian restaurant that you will not find elsewhere in Edinburgh! Would recommend to everyone to try any day of the week not just on a special occasion!

This was my first time here last Thursday night and we came with a groupon voucher, the service was very good they always asked if everything was ok and were very pleasant in chatting with us. The food was great and being able to watch the chef cook it was great. A great place to go and we will definitely return for the full menu next time. It really was a great experience

There were 4 in our party and we all had a really enjoyable time. We were not rushed and the atmosphere was relaxed. All the staff were attentive and friendly. The decor was lovely and the fireplaces added real warmth. Would definitely go again; it is different and fun.
